  1. my thoughts are similar to what everyone else is saying with a one excption. I would probably call the initial bet on the flop, see what I get on the turn and then decide where I'm at. of course your oppenet could be raising with AQ or KQ from an early position (the hand most threatening to yours), but could be raising with a large variety of hands as well. I've seen a lot of pros who will call with top pair and a decent kicker, see what his oppenent does then either RAISE him or fold. I personally would raise the flop, especially to a bet half the size of the pot. I'll usually consider that
  2. I think that the strategy to straddling is that you get to act last preflop, builds a bigger pot, and if your the only one doing it, it can throw opponents off there usuall game. if your not used to playing a straddled pot then your raises aren't going to be "proper". it has, in my opinion, more advantages then dissadvantages. but yes in the long run its not a +EV.
  3. hey give me a break on the spelling. I'm typing on my telephone at work. and that's cool to hear what everyone does, lets keep them coming!
  4. I was curios as to what most of the people that play here at FCP do for a living. not everyone here is a pro and it could be cool to get an insite into the everyday lifes of the "normal" players.I probably have one of the worse jobs. I a a petroleum transfer enginer..... (trying to glorify gas station attendent). I make minimum wage in oregon 7.50 an hour. I do supplement my income with poker, but am not confident enough in my game to quit my job.what do you do?
  5. when I go and play in the 1-2 game my standard preflop raises are usually been ten and fourteen dollars. the reasons have been said before, but you want to protect the strength of your hand, and mostly, build a pot. I look at it in that its a one two game, and if I want to feel the session was worth my time then I need to build pots as big as possible. also, just like the guy who cracked the aces, I don't want that happening by letting someone see the flop for cheap.and by the way, why didn't you get some more value for your hand on the river if you knew where he was at and he didn't know what
