  1. Yes, possibly, except you can't get a mortgage as a poker player. I'm staying in my same industry (sales) so my job history doesn't change. Poker is helping us build a BIG downpayment for in about 1.5 years when we buy a house. THEN, we may consider playing for a living. Plus I'm on track to make well over $100k at my job so my hourly rate ($40/hour @ 60 hours a week) is about the same as poker.BELIEVE ME, if I could play poker for a living I would!
  2. My wife and I are KILLING IT in Vegas. As many of you know we moved here in mid January. Now I'm working 60 hours/week and she is staying home with the kids so we don't get to play much... BUT we have been out only 4 times (we call this 8 sessions since we are both playing and we play separate tables). My first session, playing $8/16 Limit at Venetian I took home +$1250, my wife took home $580 playing $1/2/NL.Next session at Venetian, I was +$500 (same game), she was +$400 (same game). We played at Binions, both of us played $1/2/NL... me +$500, her +$800I played a tourney at Binions, $130 buyin
  3. Kinda funny you'd mention this... I know things have changed but my first ever tournament I played in a casino was at Mandalay Bay, their 11am (maybe it's noon?) tourney. This was like 5 or 6 years ago I guess.I was going to take notes but mainly I had a list of the best 20 starting hands, in order (AA, KK, QQ, AK, etc.) and a note next to it what to do in what position (this was limit poker). On the 2nd hand someone complained and I wasn't able to take notes.Ahh the memories, didn't even know what starting hand to play... and I took 5th out of 40.
  4. Let's see... rooms are renting all over Vegas for $250/night for New years Eve. The going rate for a room to rent LONG TERM is $500-600/month. Short term $800-900. cheaper than an apartment. $1500/mo on a short-term rental and a high-traffic month for a niche market is about right.I've actually already been contacted by 2 people who are considering renting it for the entire month. Our house has a separate "casita" which is totally separate from the house, separate bathroom, entry door, etc. so it's similar to a hotel. So it's not like they are STAYING with me.Yeah it's 20-25 mins from Rio but t
  5. Since we have a big 4br house in Vegas we are considering renting out the 4th room for during the WSOP. We would only want big poker players, like maybe a pro or someone who would stay during the entire event. We don't want anyone just for a couple nights. We were even considering trading the room if they buy us into one of the smaller events or something, as a backer (they'd also get a percentage of our wins). The only problem is the house is a solid 20-25 minutes from the Rio... which may not even be a problem, since I know a lot of big players like to get WAY away from the tourneys to chill.
  6. Suggestion:Re-edit to around 24 minutes with obvious places for commercials. Send to networks like Game Show, Reality TV, Travel Channel, Bravo, A&E. See where it gets you. Can't hurt!BUt take out the copyright infringing music before you send!I own a "buyout" licensed music collection that is cleared for TV, contact me if interested in using some music. I would provide it up-front, but would want an agreement to get some of the money that a network would pay you.BTW there are also companies that will "shop" your show to networks. Google for "syndication" companies. They will give you exact
  7. Your girlfriend needs to learn to control her tells, though.I was reading in this book called "Read 'em and Reap" that puking while bluffing is a BIG tell. ;)Good thing the dyke didn't read it!
  8. LOL that may not be such a weird request. our house has a "casita" which is bascialy a one-room house with bathroom that is totaly separate from the main house. We are considering renting it out.... BUT we're WAY down in Southern Highlands, 20 minutes or more from Rio.
  9. Completely forgot to write a trip report from my trip a few weeks ago. We mainly went for job interviews and to look at houses but we did have some fun... I'll put a couple hand descriptions in "quote" tags in case you want to skip'em.No crazy stuff, it was more of a business trip...Plane left at 8am Detroit time, arrived 9:30am Vegas time on Saturday. In the rental car by 10:30.First thing we were STARVING. Spent 2 hours looking around, went to Paris first for the buffet but the line was at least an hour long. Ended up at Luxor, not bad, I like the buffet but was bummed they didn't have prim
  10. Don't wanna see hole cards? Watch WSOP coverage from around 95 and prior (maybe 99?), they are on ESPN all the time. Boring as hell.I think the OP is forgetting the REASON that poker is so big... NO OTHER "invention" has caused it except for HOLE CARD CAMS. Without them, watching poker is BOOOORING. Without them, we wouldn't be where we are now.So, stupid idea... already been done, didn't work.NOW... if there was just a way to have the OPTION... sort of like Closed Captioning or something.... so you can see 1 or several people's cards. That would be pretty cool.
  11. I've had a similar situation except I was the one with variance...$100 buyin, up to $800 on great play, get top set busted by a flush for all the money. Rebought $150 ($200 max buyin), cashed out almost $1900.But, difference is, I was not drinking, I am not a total donk, and I was just playing VERY well. Oh, and I didn't walk away broke!
  12. Who is to prove? A poker court?I run one of the largest tourney series in our area, with 100+ unique players and 30+ players at most of our events. I also have banned 2 people from my home game but I personnally saw them cheating (long story).I was accused of it at a bar game, I was OUT of the tourney and took chips out of the extra chip tray in order to "chip up" the tables (which is common at this game, and there's NO chip security), someone started talking to me and I absentmindely put the chips in my pocket. Someone saw me, and next thing I know half the bar wants to kick my butt.My wife w
  13. Reasons number 13954 and 13955I dont' play online anymore.13954: preflop raiser in OMAHA hits a set (OF TWOS!!) , then QUADS. 13955: preflop raiser with 7 4 sooooted, another player flops a set and the soooted flushes on the turnBTW reason #1 is I'm a HUGE winner in "real life", like $15k this year (which is huge considering I play mostly home games and maybe 5 times at a casino), but yet I lose $8k online in less than a month playing LESS stakes!Online isn't poker. I'm sure I"ll get flamed but flame on I guess.
  14. LOL yeah I'm from a small town BUT knowing that Marriot only puts their hotels in areas where there's "Stuff" I just figured maybe there is a poker room nearby!40 minutes... hmm... cant' Taxi there, would eat up all my profits!I may PM you tho, if you really are willing to drive my butt over to a poker room and back!I may even buy you some drinks!Probably would be the weekend, like the 20th of January (Saturday) or Sunday. Wonder what else is in Irvine... ?
  15. I will be out there for 2 weeks training, but that's only from 9a-4p and not on the weekends... SO I have lots of poker time.Is there anything near the Marriott in Irvine? Like, walking-near? Or if not, how far?
  16. I guess I just assumed people would know the bridge sized are the narrower ones. My point stands and is 100% correct.
  17. This house is just north of actual "Summerlin" (just north of Cheyenne near Hualapai) and before we rented it, it was on the market at $589k.For crime stats we usedhttp://www.lvmpd.com/crimeviewcommunity/I think most big cities have something similar.
  18. Our 3yo LOVES to play poker but of course he has no idea what's going on. We just deal him his cards, then put out the board and then discuss who wins (he has to look for pairs and "same color" and if they are same color, are they the same picture (suit). It HAS taught him his numbers (by sight, not only by count). He also can identify the face cards and laughs hysterically when he sees a King in his hand because he thinks it's the best card in the deck. One time I dealt him 2 Kings and his eyes got SO big and I thought he was going to fall out of his chair. Our 12yo isn't quite as excited abou
  19. Print size means nothing compared to the size of the cards. Bridge/Poker sized relates to the width of the cards.I prefer BY FAR the bridge sized. MUCH easier to shuffle and handle. I'd also say that MOST casinos use them, every casino we've played at over the last year or 2 uses bridge sized. But, to agree with Zeatrix, I do prefer the bigger print, which is also available on the bridge sized cards (at least on Copag, they are).
  20. I think that's not many arrests for a 1 mile radius in 2 months. I did some searches in other areas and in some there were HUNDREDS within a mile. Of the 6 or so in this area, it was like 1 stolen car, 2 breakins (both were in an apartment complex about .75 mile away), a domestic disturbance and a juvenile disturbance.buttons: I dunno... 550sq for $1000? You must be on the strip! You can easily find a good sized (1800+) house for $1200. We're all about the space!Someone asked who is moving in.. just my family (wife and 2 kids), 2 dogs, and 2 cats. We have a bunch of friends who are coming out
  21. Renting for about a year, jsut to be sure everything works out out there. The housing market is HORRIBLE right now, nobody can sell and houses are on the market for 3+ months to rent. We got this one CHEAP ($1700/mo!) when the mortgage would be $3500+. At that rate, we may rent even longer
  22. Double-door entry to the masterMasterBackyardBackyardWe have pics of the bedrooms but they aren't anything special, just rooms, but they are bigger than our bedrooms at our current house. It's going to be interesting going from 1800sq/ft to nearly 3800... Oh, the BEST thing... we got a great deal, I'll just say it's less than half of what the mortgage would be if we were to buy it (it's a $600,000 house).

  24. Just signed the lease today... highlights:3780 sq feetGated Community near Summerlin (NW side)4BR/4 full baths3 car garagecommunity has pool/spa/saunaSummerlin is up near the mountains so it's higher than the Strip, so we have a clear view of the Strip from our master BR (5-6 miles away)Traffic out there is GREAT... the Summerlin area is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. We ran crime stats and there has only been 3 arrests within 1 mile of this house in the past 60 days. The public schools are the best in town (although the boys will still probably go to Catholic school)... there's EIGHT private schools wi
