  1. When you say he's passive, does that mean he's a calldown monkey with top pair, but goes apeshit with draws and better than top pair hands? Cause I'm trying to figure out where his 3.0 AF jives with passive, and what it means for his range here?
  2. In a nutshell, because you look like you were drawing and missed, UTG should raise a flush or bigger straight for value against the well defined hand of BB and not worry about you. When UTG doesn't raise he figures he's drawn out on (does he have AA with A ) by BB at least some of the time, and would rather you overcall if you have something like a pair and a busted draw?
  3. BB pretty much has to have KK, probably with the K UTG has something like A with a T,8,7, or JJ/QQ/TT/88/77, maybe 99.
  4. Just asking cause it got skimmed thus far. In Tucker's KK hand, is there any value to capping this flop 3-way?
  5. How do you get value here? I laughed.5 playersConverterPre-flop: (5 players) Hero is UTG with 9 9 Hero raises, CO calls, Button folds, SB calls, BB folds.Flop: A Q 7 (7SB, 3 players)SB checks, Hero bets, CO calls, SB calls.Turn: K (5BB, 3 players)SB checks, Hero checks, CO checks.River: T (5BB, 3 players)SB checks, Hero checks, CO checks.Results:Final pot: 5BBHero showed 9s 9cSB showed 6c 6sCO mucks 5s 7s
  6. Did you call the flop planning to raise a non-diamond turn? When they check to me on that river I'm betting. With the second player coming along for the ride, I think I prefer just to cap the flop as well. He's already called 2 cold, he'll probably do it again, and you're either way ahead or have some outs.edit: Plus capping the flop may buy you a cheap showdown (if you want one).
  7. Anyone doing anything differently here? BB is a 68/2/1.75 after 40 hands. My notes on him are:-appears to donk turn or river when he hits his draw? (haven't actually seen him show down this line yet)-3bet flop and turn w top pair oop - overplays top pair hard4 playersConverterPre-flop: (4 players) Hero is UTG with A K Hero raises, 2 folds, BB calls.Flop: 2 Q A (4.4SB, 2 players)BB bets, Hero raises, BB 3-bets, Hero caps, BB calls.Turn: 9 (6.2BB, 2 players)BB bets, Hero raises, BB 3-bets, Hero calls.River: K (12.2BB, 2 players)BB bets, Hero raises, BB 3-bets, Hero calls. Results:Final pot:
  8. It seems like it, although I've had a lot of luck on Friday and Saturday nights, too. Here's a thought: the best day for cash games is any day you can give them your full attention and focus.
  9. Re: yesterday. I sat down with the intent to play a certain number of hands, but got assraped for 20BB in the first 50 or so and just want to quit the game, like, permanently. Instead, I focused hard on the action, took about forty notes in the next 350 hands, and booked a small 7BB win. It's just tilt control. My typical reaction to the same occurrences recently has been to open more tables and end up autopiloting my hands. My determined and concentrated reaction yesterday was a much beter thing than my emotional reaction. This morning I booked a great session where I took about 40 notes
  10. My goals for January are:-Play 10k hands of 6max LHE-Focus whenever I'm at the table. If I'm not focused and taking notes, take a break. I'm pretty sure autopiloting is my tilt.-Stick to BR management-Analyze every session I play and work through trouble hands. Discuss as needed with better players.-Profit.
  11. Pretty much broke even today over 518 hands. I'm starting to feel like I can figure out what they're doing again after a few days back on the horse, but I'm having serious trouble not wanting to quit for life when I start out badly.
  12. CO is a complete calling station. Button has been at the table for ten hands and this is the first he's played. I think I've been playing way too tight when raised on the turn, and I'm trying to remedy it. 5 playersConverterPre-flop: (5 players) Hero is SB with Q Q UTG folds, CO calls, Button calls, Hero raises, BB calls, CO calls, Button calls.Flop: 9 3 8 (8SB, 4 players)Hero bets, BB folds, CO calls, Button calls.Turn: 9 (5.5BB, 3 players)Hero bets, CO calls, Button raises, Hero calls, CO calls.River: K (11.5BB, 3 players)Hero checks, CO checks, Button bets, Hero calls, CO calls.Re
  13. UTG is a 50/6/1.7 after 30 hands. He has raised the flop with draws and mid pairs before. 14. This is exactly what I'm working on right now. I think one of the keys to being able to act in the moment, though, is to spend more time than I currently do seriously analyzing different hands against various types of opponents, sort of a, "What would I do here against a TAG? How about a LAG? How about a complete retard?," to get an idea of what the correct play is against the various kinds of players. Then, when I'm in the moment and have to make a decision, if I can just force myself to take those two full seconds Checky talked about, and have been paying attention to the table, some of
  15. Are you raising the turn with draws here for a free showdown, to fold out bluffs, or to give yourself some bluff equity on the river? All of the above? Or something I'm missing?
  16. FWIW I only reply when I think I have something new to add, or when something strikes me and just demads I respond. I spend way more time reading and thinking about what is said here than I do posting. I need to get in the habit of posting more, but first I need to get in the habit of thinking about the game in a meaningful and productive way when Im not playing.
  17. Pretty much what BigD said. I'm calling with anything that can make a straight, even 3 gappers, any two suited, any two cards bigger than 7. Only folding like 72-Q2, 83-Q3, 94-Q4, T5-Q5 all offsuit.
  18. I think you're my smarter younger brother, except I dropped the facade a long time ago, and I'm old enough for my arrogance to be fading and my worry to be showing. Where once I felt like the smartest person in most rooms, I now feel like a blithering idiot, particularly in this room. You and the other regs here have helped me learn more about the game in the last year than I'd learned in the previous four. The biggest problem I'm having is getting out of old habits and learning how not to autopilot SSHE, and instead apply the concepts I'm learning/remembering well. When all I wanted to do was
  19. Heh, I forgot there was a shorthanded forum.I am thinking his range is pretty narrow after he 3bet pre and b/c the flop, like I'm expecting a c/r on the turn. I didn't think about the spades or getting called down by pocket pairs.
  20. BB is a 30/20/3 after 150 hands. Button is a 25/0/1.5 after 40 hands and has cold called multiple times. 21. I've never smoked, but I'm seriously considering it. Stress is killing me, and I doubt it's helping my poker game either.
