Agreed, on both accounts. Talk about a guy doing whatever the team needed. He switched positions multiple times. Kinda sucks they couldn't beat the White Sox in '05.

I had to give props to this man...hilarious.

Is Race Really A Factor When It Comes To Barry Bonds Homerun Chase?
Solodell replied to aadams_22's topic in Sports- Baseball
So, because baseball looked the other way, it's ok to cheat? Sorry, I can't agree with that. Also, I didn't say he wasn't a great player. But can you honestly tell me he's approaching this record w/o steroids? Not a chance. -
I find it unbelievable that at any point he snookered someone into giving him a contract that would pay him 13.4 million at one point. Wow. I dont really see why the Cubs would want this guy, but oh well.

No. I don't want him to break the record cause he's kind of a jerk, and he's a big cheater. I could care less whether he was black, white, yellow, purple, or as blue as a smurf. -
It's Only Been 25 Years....(official Brewers Thread)
Solodell replied to bmtphs05's topic in Sports- Baseball
touch break w/ Sheets going out. Gotta hope the Brewers take it (I CAN'T be happy if the Cubs win the division, and I KNOW the Cards aren't). -
Well, that whole Pujols not playing thing and mad at Larussa about the ASG was pretty overblown. Nevertheless, you gotta play Pujols in that situation. C'mon, he's one of the best hitters in the league, and one of the most clutch as well. Good thing the Cards have little to no shot of being impacted by the HFA in the WS this year.

I don't really like it. First thing I said when they did that was that they need to take away the fan vote. If you're going to have the game be meaningful, you really can't let the fans get in there and screw up the rosters like they usually do. I would be fine if they did it best record, alternating, or some kind of record vs. common opponent (now that we have interleague play). Any of those would be better than this contrived "let's figure out how to make up for screwing up the AllStar game tie"

I Just Went To A Mlb Game Or Have Been To Stadiums

generally agree, unless for some reason you have a couple guys sitting behind you who decide they want to come to a baseball game and discuss Stem Cell Research for at least 3 innings. That was an annoying experience. -
If Sosa is in, McGwire is in. McGwire was a lot skinnier and hit 49 HRs his rookie year. Sosa started off as a leadoff guy, and took several years to become a HR hitter. McGwire's HR rate is one of the best ever. One could argue steroids did not contribute that greatly to his HR totals, as he hit so many that were so far over the wall he didn't need the steroids. I don't know how you evaluate the era really. I personally feel a bit cheated, because the great HR race is now tainted. One could consider that the playing field WAS somewhat level, if nearly everyone was using. As far as Mc

That's what I'm afraid of.

sad day. Classy move by Vince to drop the Dead Mr. McMahon angle tonight for this.

out of options, so if he struggles, you're stuck with him taking up a roster spot, cause you can't send him back down w/o exposing him. Plus, he needs to play everyday in the minors to get ABs in.

Good thing there's an offday today. Otherwise, there'd be no one left to pitch. Nice win last night though.Ankiel WILL be a September callup at least this year, unless something goes really south for him the rest of the way. Be nice if he can replicate that power at the major league level next year.

If Ozzie played today (i.e. his career began after 1990) would he be a hall of famer? I'm not convinced he would. Not saying he wouldn't deserve it, but don't think he would've received quite the accolades he did. I suppose Vizquel might be the litmus test for that.

Was just thinking about Koop after getting pasted by the Royals...he still around?

know what I care about, losing 17-8 to a crappy team like the Royals...that's embarrassing. What royals fans call rivalry, I call the normal beatings.

WoW, only $17...awesome. My roommate bought it a while back, then lent it out...haven't seen it for months. Actually just found them about a week ago on the stage6.divx site TW was referring to. Good thing to, cause the withdrawal was getting to be too much to deal with. Firefly is probably my favorite show of all time (sadly, I didn't see a single episode until less than a year ago, double sadly because there's not nearly enough of them). Interestingly enough, I saw the movie before the show (it doesn't take a lot to get me to go see a Sci Fi movie).

I'm heading down to the game next friday...certainly hope it's not as crappy as that. Meanwhile, Reyes continues to pitch well down in the minors... that whole situation is becoming frustrating.
-
hit 102 on the gun to the last batter he faced....absolutely sick. He's the kinda guy you expect to throw one in his career, because they can strike so many people out and thus avoid the bloop fluke hit.

I fail at life for not mentioning Major League...my apologies to all. I remember an old one, something like The Kid from Left Field or something to that effect that I saw when I was young that wasn't bad (although it's possible I just don't remember it well enough to know if it sucked or not).

Field of Dreams is great. Loved the Sandlot and BNB when I was growing up. I actually don't mind a League of Their Own (thought Tom Hanks was pretty good in that). 61* seems pretty good, but I'm trying to think, I don't believe I've ever sat down and watched the whole thing at once. Probably have seen most of it in bits and pieces when is was showing on HBO. Obviously the greatest ever is Rookie of the Year LOLj/k

Pujols and Edmonds both heating up. Now if we could only find anyone with a pulse to replace Kip Wells in the rotation...

amazing how much better the offense seems to be doing w/ our tablesetter (Eckstein) ACTUALLY getting on base. Good move by Tony to drop him down to #8 for a bit. Either lit a fire under him, or allowed him to regain his confidence. Now even when they lose, it's not by scores of 13-2 or 8-1. I can't stand those games as consistently as they seemed to be happening a couple weeks ago.
