  1. The overcall on the flop only works if the Button follows the Hero's action with a call. The New Guy only has an additional 130 behind, so against him we really aren't getting great implied odds. Based on his actions, check raising on the flop and then open pushing the turn he could very well be representing middle or bottom set. KK is less likely, but based on his play we certainly have to include those hands in his holdings. So if the button folds we're left heads up against someone who has displayed clear strength and doesn't have a deep enough stack to merit a huge payoff for us.If the b
  2. Ha - it took 17 posts for someone to ask you why on earth you were limping with QJs only to fold when you flopped a flush. I was going to scream it otherwise.Calmly, the odds of flopping a flush are very small, and for that reason most people rarely give their opponents credit for having flopped a flush, assuming instead that their opponent is just on a draw. If your opponent holds two cards of the same suit that you do, the odds of you both flopping a flush are even smaller. When you have the third nuts the odds his flopped flush is higher than yours is even smaller than that. Will it eve
  3. Not really relevant in light of... OP is a live one, sorry to say. Switch to online where you can play a higher volume and improve quickly. I suppose if you have money from some other source you could try playing your style at a higher limit, but in all likelihood you'll get crushed there, too. Look, if you enjoy the game, keep playing and trying to learn, but right now you must come to terms with the fact that you're a losing player. (And again, nothing wrong with admitting that.)
  4. I am probably putting all my chips into this pot here, too. This smells like Adxd, and there are a ton of hands we beat that he could conceivably be playing this way. If he has you, oh well, on to the next hand. Since someone chastised you for posting results earlier I'm assuming you called. What did he end up having?
  5. Hero's action does not complete action on this street. You are discounting the possibility that the Button will reraise of which there is a definite chance. If the Button repops to 200-300, the EP calls, Hero is going to have to fold. It's always tempting to draw at flushes when there is a possibility that you can win a big pot, but there are certain situations in which is it very easy to get stuck in the middle of raising war with just a naked draw if you aren't careful. This is one of them.
  6. Do you play anywhere in the city? Perhaps we have played together.

  8. Okay. My April goal was just to make money. Mission accomplished. I went back to the beginning, playing nothing but $10NL and $25NL. Got in almost 3100 hands which is a good volume month for me and ran at 7.8ptbb/100. Net Profit: $99.45.As part of my preparations for the WSOP I'm trying to play a lot of STT. I got in 16 10 person $3.40 turbos on Stars and ran 3/1/1/11 for a net ROI of +10.29%.Fooled around with a few MTT, cashed in a couple micro 5CD, did not do much else.May Goals50 STT, same limit with a positive ROI.3500 micro NL cash hands with a solid winrate. My WSOP trip details ar

  10. I'll post some actual stuff later, right now I just feel like reserving this parking spot.April was a pretty good month.
  11. Check the fine print at the book you bet with. Should this situation not be covered, send them an email.
  12. Somebody google earth it and post pics from space.
  13. I had not considered that MP's lagginess could widen SB's range significantly. For some reason my initial read was that he must have a very strong hand. This hand continues to bother me, because I can't think of any way to play it other than pushing, which means a certain percentage of the time I'm going to get my money in as a dog.
  14. I am 1/1 all time in these myself. ( )Although I did stop playing in them once I realized that, yeah, they're just top heavy MTT's.
  15. I was really concerned about the SB's bet here. His numbers were tight, and even a monkey could have known that MP was going to raise his bet. And he led out anyway. What kind of hand range can I reasonably give him?
  16. Wrinkle here is that MP is a total lagtard - running at 70/35/3 over about a hundred hands and not playing well (got his big stack on multiple suckouts). I'm in total trap and stack mode on him. I'm not sure what to make of his over raise, nor what of the SB's bet. SB has been patiently waiting for a hand not doing much. Not sure if this situation is an autopush or not. 17. It is. I had that one stretch where I was getting clobbered by the deck and then a long stretch of building up small gains immediately followed by getting stacked. 3K+ hands is a high volume month for me and it's feeling grind-y. I don't know how some of you guys produce the kind of output that you do.
  18. 5 wins in a row and I'm giving this thread an honorary bump. Cole Hamels on the mound today going for six. It is now 2007.
  19. Haven't been able to get anything going over the last couple thousand hands. Can someone give me an idea of what kinds of numbers are normal for shorthanded NL?EDIT: I'm running at like 24 / 14 / 1.75 for reference.
  20. Jesse I'll ship you the money when I get home tonight. Any updates on when the bracket will be set?
  21. Blah. I hate gossip and rumors. The story is Phil Laak was involved in an armed robbery of a poker club in New York at some point in the late 90's. Because of this, Phil was forced to leave New York under threats of death. When he went off and became famous, he was approached by the people he may or may not have robbed, and restitution was paid, dropping the issue. I have no knowledge that this is true, but I've heard it from a few different people and it's always struck me as an interesting story.
  22. It's a call. Scott, you heading to the WSOP at all this year?
