Given that you were attending school at the same time you're fine just listing school as what you were doing with your time, e.g. concentrating on getting your degree. If you want, list poker as a hobby/interest at the bottom of the resume. If the interviewer is a poker player also he might ask you about it, or if he asks you a question about your analytical/logic skills you can talk about your education and tell him how you also play poker as a hobby and how you think that has helped you further develop analytical skills.

I'll be the overweight Jew-y looking guy with glasses and a baseball hat. Good luck picking me out of the 2000 of us there.

I think a good idea would be to try to do one get together a week. Like every Monday or something. I'll be there from the 7th on.

It's not just a question of tilt. People are subject to any one of a number of factors that affect the way we make decisions. We may be tired, hungry, cold, angry at our girlfiend, angry that we don't have a girlfriend or just plain bored. The are an infinite number of other environmental factors that come into play. When presented with something as dynamic as a hand of poker, which literally can play out in hundreds of millions of ways, is it really believable that a person could make the exact same decisions each and every time without ever deviating? It's hard enough for one person to s

One of the suspected botters is now posting and answering questions in the original thread. Or sort of trying to, to be more accurate.

Don't worry, this will be long after Skynet has taken over.

Well, first of all datamining is not legal on every site and shouldn't be, IMO. But PT and HUD programs, etc., have all been reviewed by the sites and approved under their terms and conditions. So anyone can use them and anyone who chooses to is well within his rights to do so. Bots, on the other hand are against the rules.

Upcoming Poker After Dark Table From Dn Blog.
rgold79 replied to xmykro's topic in General Poker Forum
I will respectfully have to disagree with you on this. -
I'll be in that one. I'm getting in June 7 and have an open ended ticket so we'll see how things go. My total daily overhead is <$100 so as long as I'm continuing to cover that nut I'm not going anywhere.

That's only 2.5 buyins at 300-600. Also, maybe he's playing a bot.
-
I posted this same question on 2+2 - If the owner of the bot can take over at any time, wouldn't there be deviations in his overall statistics? It's definitely an eye-opening post, and I'd like to hear from FTP. But I would not go so far as to call it "conclusive evidence" yet.

Haha - I'm really not passive-aggressive like that, I promise. I was speaking more in general terms in the sense that it can be very difficult for outsiders and new members to get comfortable and feel like they can make a substantive contribution. I like it around here, am fine with saying what I think regardless of who cares, and take little personally, so to me it's not as big a deal as I imagine it can be for others. Thank you, though.

I find it odd but telling that over 75 posts in this thread only one person who has joined in the past 6 months and who has <1000 posts has contributed. Coming from the perspective of someone who has joined more recently and who has tried to make a contribution I can tell you that it can seem daunting to try to compete for attention or at least at times to get some of the more experienced players on here to notice you and engage in discussion with you constructively. For a while, I thought GenStrat was the place I was looking for all along, but lately I've found it disappointing.I have defi

This probably isn't going to help my idea for a Gaza Strip-themed casino resort.

What HUD stats are people keeping up on screen? In addition to the regulars I want Cbet% and Fold to Cbet% but it feels like it's making my screen a little too crowded. Am I being too ambitious? What are you guys using?

Congrats on finishing school. And screw Vegas. Come meet me for the 5-5 no max game at the Bike. I had a shitty day today myself. Within 2 minutes of sitting down AA<88 on XX88A board for stacks. Money all went in on the end. I hate Sundays.

Max bets at tables don't really exist. Like everything else, they are at the house's discretion. So they can post them, and if they don't want your action to be higher than a certain amount they can say no thank you and point to the posted maximum, and if they do want your action high enough they will happily waive the requirement. I won't argue the utility of the martingale system under a condition in which a person has infinite wealth, since that would be like me arguing that I can run a 4 minute mile in a world without friction. As a practical, real world application the Martingale syst

Hahaha. The next time you go to a casino, politely tell the pit boss at your blackjack table that you'd like to bet using the martingale system and would he mind please eliminating the betting limit for you as an accomodation. Here's a hint: He'll say yes immediately.

Yawn. It's a long disguised bad beat post, and it uses lame analogies and cliches. Did the people who are winning at online poker simply materialize out of the ether? Although I'll give you credit for writing a long rant and managing to do so with what looked like correct spelling, syntax and grammar.

How come NLHE in the UK doesn't use all your weird little coin denominations?Cheery, mate, I'll raise you four crowns, three guineas, four shillings and tuppence. Also in my story everyone is suffering from rickets.

So Its Not The Nuts But....
rgold79 replied to tripdeuces's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
Was he splashing chips around a lot? Against someone with a vpip of 68.2 over >100 hands I'm probably calling off unless all he's also been generally passive and this is out of character for him. I hate going broke on the dummy end of a straight though. -
I'm getting in on this late but I'm wondering whether anyone has done studies on gun crime in countries with compulsory military service. For example, what are the rates of gun crimes among Israeli citizens given the fact that nearly the entire population has handled a gun at one time?

Ah, Looney Tunes... they just don't make mildly racist and xenophobic cartoons like they used to.

That rake structure will kill you over the long term.Comparing play chips to money really just doesn't work most of the time. Although I definitely think it can help you learn the game at a basic level if you take the right approach. How many SNG's did you play? Playing micro STT's is a good way to ease into real money play. Have you tried any NLHE cash games? You might find more success playing micro cash online. Or maybe try 1/2NL at your B&M.Nobody is forgetting what it was like to be a beginner, and when people take the time to respond to your posts and tell you that a 300bb downsw
