I was able to beat it quickly using the mouse, but couldn't get it done with the arrow keys. What are people using?

On average, what, like, 200 of them are actually meaningful?

I win a ton of chips in tournaments coming over the top of people who raise 2.5X the blind late. Counter-intuitively, these are the guys who have spent time studying tournament theory, making them more likely to throw the cards away. If I know someone is going to overthink a situation, I'm more than happy to put him to a decision right then and there whether he wants to put all his chips in before the flop. More often than not the thinking player will wisely wait for a better spot. This is a great way to bully people with a big stack.

4-handed? If he folds he has 70K with an M <3. He's already put half his chips into the pot, commiting himself, and the big stack could literally be raising with anything. This looks like a call.

Barry Greenstein Article In Jewish Journal
rgold79 replied to delphi12's topic in General Poker Forum
Actually, he is. A close confidante (let's call him MG for confidentiality purposes) told me he heard Barry claim responsibility for starting all the wars in the world the other day while scooping a 30K pot in Stud8. -
I left my tickets at work so I couldn't check them until this morning. Ten Tickets... one mega ball match = $2. Oh well, news is saying two people hit the jackpot. Better luck next time all.

Can you tell him to bypass the filter? I want to know what "****-***" is so I can call my Mom and find out if she is one.By the way, someone with better math skills than I have can show you why this is +EV, but this article does a pretty good job of explaining. Edit: Actually this is the link: http://www.slate.com/id/114577/

This is because a competent investor should be able to generate a higher return than the annuity offers. Most people are not competent investors, and most people do not have the foresight/intelligence to contact an investment professional when they win. That kind of money should provide more than enough for a person to safeguard his family for the next 200 years. It's sad to see what happens to some of these people. My guess is you won the lottery and lost the ticket somehow. Bitter much? We're dealing with big numbers here, but the expectation is positive.
-
This is true if you take the lump sum, as the annuity takes 26 years. By the way, WAY too many people take the lump sum when, in fact, they really should take the annuity. If you take the lump sum and invest it well you will very likely give yourself a higher return than if you had simply taken the return offered by the annuity. Unfortunately, most people who take the lump sum blow it and wind up miserable, broke and buried in debt.

What name do you play under on Bodog? I'll be happy to come on the next time you're playing PLO and donate a little to get you back on your way. I obliged a couple of very nice guys last night at a 3-6 5-Stud table. Did you ever post a trip report? I didn't know you got slaughtered. I also got crushed my first time in Vegas, since I thought my "counting system" could beat single deck blackjack.

If you live in a state that participates, do yourself a favor and buy a ticket. With the jackpot at at least $370 million, each $1 ticket is actually +EV even accounting for the possibility of a split and for taxes, making it a good bet. Still, you probably won't win.

Eh... it was early in the tournament... I'll get it over it. -
Bear with me, as I'm just now getting back to stud after a long hiatus to learn Hold Em. Specifically, the title of this thread refers to when I have a made 2 pair and know that I am ahead going to the last card against an opponent who is clearly drawing to either a straight or a flush. For example:Me: (Ac, Js) Jc, 6d, Ad, 2sOpponent: (X, X) 8h, Qh, 3c, 5sGenerally with a strong hand like this I'm inclined to bet the river every time, and then call if raised, but I'm wondering if I can save bets over the long term by figuring out when it might be appropriate to check the river. Let's say in m

If you imagine this is what you had to go through in order to be conceived, only you were competing against a billion other sperm at the same time, you'll spend the rest of the day feeling much better about yourself. As it is, right now I just feel creepy.

Look at how well-reported and informative this article is compared to most of the drivel that gets "published" on this subject. The Times is the best.

It's been a couple weeks, maybe it's time for another 20 page thread of people arguing about tipping dealers.
