  1. Last week I was playing in a club tournament. A player called another players river bet. The original bettor showed one of his hole cards (4s that gave him a pair), which was obviously enough to beat the caller as he mucked his cards. The original bettor then went to muck his cards. As this guy had raised a significant amount preflop I wondered what his other card was and asked him to show it. He claimed that since his one card on its own was enough to win the pot he was not obligated to show the other. I claimed that his bet had been called and the table was entitled to see his hole cards.Resp
  2. I don't know about that. I went from the high 300's to the top 100 in one event.I'm still sucking wind but at least my score isn't embarrasing anymore HA! 1222!( I have way too much time on my hands today )PS
  3. If the $50K H.O.R.S.E. event is the true test of poker prowess then I'm feeling better about my results so far in the WSOP pool. . .I scored 1798 on the event. Anyone do better?

  6. We've dropped 150 players in 15 minutes. Guessing lots of people have Father's Day stuff to go to.
  7. Congrats. Poker is just like life - never give up! As long as you're in there fighting you never know what might happen.
  8. Great write up Rich. You really captured the time well.On a related topic I have some photos to send to the Snapfish site - anyone know how you get them to append to the existing album?
  9. Height 5'9"Weight 205BMI 30.3Woo Hoo - just snuck into the obese club!
  10. Hey Ozium,Just my two cents but I have to agree with the OP that you are a total looser! And to the OP - get a freakin' life! Perhaps someone with your meagre grasp of English language and a propensity for venting your frustrations through anonymous internet posts doesn’t realize that talented people have the inherent ability to do more than one thing at a time. Then again I could be completely wrong and you are a poker genius who just happens to write at the grade level of a highly educated head of broccoli. If that’s the case I’d be happy to lay some money on the line and bet that Daniel f
  11. We're going to stay at Caesar's Friday night but we don't get in until midnight Friday.Anyone up for some cards on Saturday morning - I think the wife is going to do some shopping or the spa and I'm hitting the tables around 7 am.
  12. If you already have a cell phone then you can transfer the number to the Blackberry. That way you can carry one device instead of two
  13. Since you are working for a major company get the IT department to hook you up with whatever platform they support. Most likely it will be a Blackberry. You can't do as much in the third party apps area with Blackberries as a Treo or HP platform but in terms of doing what you want it excels. Get the 8700 model with EDGE (if you have that network available) and you will be happy. Email - fantasticInternet - OKPhone - all in one - also includes speakerphoneCalendar - easily synchs realtime with your desktop calendarTo do/etc - no one ever really uses these but it's there if you wantMemory - who
  14. Flemish flag = Mine is the scottish lion - and I'm using it 'cause it's tattooed on my butt.
  15. My wife is a poker newbie too. Talk about diving straight into the deep end of the pool!
  16. My goal this year is to build my BR enough to take a shot at 2/5NL - up from 1/2 where I currently reside. The next session should (hopefully) see me crack the $5K barrier - halfway to the $10K I want to have. Part of me is thinking of just topping up the BR to $10K rather than spending another 160 hours or so building it organically. It's all a moot point though if I can't find a game to play. Does anyone have any thoughts on where to find a good, relatively safe 2-5NL game in Ottawa?
  17. It's a blessing in disguise that there were two all ins in front of me. The blessing is I got to see how my hand would have fared without being a donk and spinning the cards meaninglessly. The disguise part is the fact that a heart fell on the river - making me the winner should I have played. But as one of the regulars is wont to say. "You can't look up a dead horse's a$$!"Thanks for all the advice.
  18. I have to agree with you. Normally I would call in a heartbeat but in this case it was the last hand of the night so any result would be final. I had booked a solid win on the night - up $420 - and that had moved my win rate above the $30/hr mark which has been my goal for a while. I debated a long time before laying down my hand. I realize that mathematically a call was the right move but psychologically I would have been crushed had the cards not fallen my way.So was I playing with scared money - yes - at that particular moment in time. Is that a bad thing? I am still up in the air on this o
  19. The game is breaking - we've all agreed it is the last hand and I am dealing.I find Kh7h, and because I am dealing the last hand of the night I call a small raise. Of course the flop comes Qh9hJc. UTG immediately goes all-in for $191, maniac calls ($108), two folds, and I am left with a decision. If figure UTG, a young guy who won big early but gave most of it back - he's probably bought in for $200 - was looking to just end it. He had gone in with two pair a couple of times earlier. I had no idea what the maniac was calling on - other than it was probably not the A high flush draw as he had li

  21. I realized that I have been a member of this Forum now for more than a year but haven't contributed that much in terms of posts. I recently re-read one of my first ever posts and it hit me just how far my game has come in a relatively short period of time. Much of my progress is directly attributed to the insight and encouragement I get from reading the forums on FCP so here is a global thank you to all you dedicated posters. I have gone from being totally clueless to knowing just enough to be dangerous to myself - perhaps even a bit better than that.In future I will try to make more of an eff
  22. We're arriving at midnight on Friday - leaving at midnight on Sunday. I have a feeling we'll just crash and then get up early Saturday morning. I might hit the tables early on Saturday morning looking to take advantage of people who have been playing/drinking all night Friday - the wife might not be too happy 'bout that but it is a poker weekend after all . . .
  23. The hockey pool weekend - just bought my tickets
