  1. I dont think you can argue with the reasoning for the lawsuit, to try and get more recognition and rights for the players. But if it turns into a public bashing of each side, then it does more harm than good for poker, an already touchy subject in the public eye.

  2. just looking for a little advice: im normally a hold em player but trying to expand my repitoire into being a solid stud player. Im wondering two things: 1. does anyone have any stud books to recommend. and 2. what is proper buy-in into a stud game (lets say $1/$2). Thanks a lot
If you have the Super System already, I would recommend reading the sections on Stud. I assume you are playing Stud Hi? Not Razz or Hi/Lo? Or all around stud player? Doesn't really matter, just curious. Super System was the only book I read for my stud game and it helped it quite a bit.Usually the proper buy in to a stud game is anywhere from 15 - 30x the max bet which is $2. So 20x, $40 in this case, is pretty safe. Some will buy in for a lot less than that, some for a lot more, but if you buy in for $40 you'll probably be right around average.
  3. I really hope that Phil Gordon didn't make those comments. I know that they are probably true, but I have lost all respect for Gordon, and I wont support his poker play anymore. And the remark that DN is gay is way out of line. Not once in this whole mess that I've seen on a blog or a post from Daniel insulting ANY of them. This is getting out of line and they should show more respect. Thumbs down to you Phil Gordon. :club:
hukt un fonix wurkt fer meh!
  4. From Full Tilt's chat....talking about Daniel and his views on the WPT lawsuitPhil Gordon: but, as a friend, I really wish he'd stop and think before posting what appears to be an influential blog. He has my number, he could call, but he didn't bother.79DTFBALl (Observer): Phil do you watch Daniels Blogs?Phil Gordon: yes, occasionally79DTFBALl (Observer): you watch the one todayPhil Gordon: yesPhil Gordon: and it did not make me at all happy79 DTFBALI is not me first off, but maybe DN and some of the "Seven" should all get together sometime and have a talk about the issue? Rather than having all this public trash talking, just settle it in private? I mean the last thing Poker needs is bad press, so why not settle it in private rather than publically lashing out at one another? Just a thought.By the way, so some of you don't get the wrong impression, Phil Gordon didnt slam DN in any way or call him any names.

  5. 59th United States David 'Chip' Reese $ 2,543,344?
I was quite suprised by that too. **************SPOILER for all you "i only wanna see it on espn people"**********************He won $1.7 mill in the HORSE event did he not? I have a hard time believing he's only made $800k and change outside of the HORSE event, but I could be wrong.
  6. Out of 10,000 hands I've gotten KK 41 times and won the pot 35 times at different points in the hand (PF, AF, Turn, Riv). Perhaps I'm doing something wrong? I should be losing every time right? :club: Play KK aggressively. Don't let weak ace's see cheap flops. If you run into Ace's, you run into Ace's. Whachyou gonna do? ...Act a fool?

  7. Folding was the correct play. You wanted to practice your Heads Up game anyway and gambling with K6 clubs is not a good way to start. Unless you want to learn how to deal with a blown chip leader and make a comeback.Yeah, you had him beat at the time, but it's about a coin flip. It was the correct lay down as the only hands you could really beat were QJ and lower, and even then its about even money. So, how'd you end up doing?

  8. If your whole table tightens up, you can either do 1 of 2 things.1) Tighten up yourself.Play similar to them and wait for someone to get shortstacked and make a bad play and get out. The safe play.or2) Loosen up.Raise when you're in position with stuff like J10 or 78 or the like. If he/she just calls you still got a decent drawing hand to catch the flop and if he/she checks, bet the flop.Recently, I had about 4050 chips going into 4 handed and second had around 3300. I started raising a lot of hands when the blinds got up there (75/150 and on) and people were folding like madmen. I would pump it up to 450 and it would get folded around. If someone goes all in when you do this, just fold. By that time, people will have given you enough blinds to cover your 450 loss. However, I would recommend a more tighter image before you start do this.I built it up to 7K by doing this and I was fortunate enough to pick up AK on the button and made my standard 450 raise and someone pushed all in with KJ. I called and won. Ended up going onto win the tournament.Dont raise it when you've got something like 2-7 or 3-9 or something like that. Give yourself some outs to hit the flop if you do get called. You put yourself much more at risk but you're also putting yourself in a much better spot to win the thing.Try both and see how it works out and do what's ever most comfortable for you and your game. The absolute worst thing you can do is begin calling with inside straight draws like you are doing in an attempt to catch and bust someone.

  9. Thanks guys, I thought it was an instant fold too but my friend was saying I was an idiot for instant folding. I was going to call the first all in because the guy's a maniac. Second I was going to be in a tough decision but after the third it was an instant fold. If I lost the hand I'd be shortstacked. The hands were like this:1st All in: Q92nd All in: AK3rd All in: JJFlop came down A-10d-9d and I woulda turned the nut diamond flush. My friend flipped out and said I was stupid for folding it. guy with AK took down the pot and went on to win the tourney. I got 2nd.

  10. Well, it's 6 handed on the Final Table of a 413 person MTT. I'm chip leader at the moment with 150k and blinds are 2k/4k.UTG with AdQd I raise to 10K.Next to act raises all in for 19K more.Someone folds.Button raises allin for 52K more on top of my 10K.SB folds.BB (second in chips)moves all in for 88K on top of my 10K.The only "maniac" was the shortstack who was the first to go all in who lucked his way onto the final table. Everyone else wasn't really making random moves and the BB is a very tight player. What do you do? If you call and win you have 80% of the chips in play. If you call and lose you are down to 52K.

  11. how about we tape your life and put it on a website that gets thousands upon thousands of visitors a day. then have a forum about it where people are critiquing everything and anything that you do just because they can without any consequences. then see how you like it.kick some *** negreanu. win one for the pros.

  13. As for last night's PPT, does anyone else think that it's a bad play for Corkins to push the AK there? Harman raises, Bigler calls, and Juanda pushes in...I'd seriously have to consider laying the hand down. The only thing that I can think is that Corkins figured Juanda might be pulling a squeeze play...but even then...it's pretty risky.
Yeah, I don't think Hoyt analyzed the hand very much as he pushed rather quickly, or at least, that's how it was shown on TV. Did you see Juanda's reaction to when Hoyt flipped his hand up? He looked pretty disgusted and thought for sure he had to have AA to push all in there. You gotta put Juanda on at least 1010 or JJ and so you're in a coinflip at best. With Bigler and Harman in the hand, they almost have to have at least one of your outs. I think if Corkins had analyzed the hand a bit more he could've/would've laid it down.
