I think you missed my post (or didn't care to read it) about the Illinois gov't that is as f'd up as the federal one. They raised our state taxes 2% at the same time they reduced the payroll tax so no one received the benefit. Lucky for us they give us 1.5% of it back in 2015 (except they will override that late 2014 I'm sure). I do a lot of work with defense contractors today, and they no longer get a lot of funding for new programs. It has turned into an actual business like situation where they have to develop the product themselves and compete for orders. 5 years ago the government

Isn't the $1000 a tax? Didn't think that had any effect on taxable income so everyone would be affected by the full 2%. But I'm just an engineer guy, not a fancy money man like (most of) the rest of ya's.

The crappy part about the payroll tax in Illinois is that the state used the reduction in 2011 as an opportunity to increase state taxes by the same 2%. Thanks Obama!
