Speaking of th Da Vinci Code, here is a website you might find interesting.www.rbcdavincicode.orgdidnt he write the da vinci codei see that we have found a topic of interest where we shall agree to disagree.my mom likes it though. :-) -
I came across this article today and thought others might find it interesting to hear what Charles Townes, the physics professor who co-invented the laser, believes about Creation and Christianity. The Real Prizeby John FischerIt has just been reported that Charles Townes, the University of California Berkeley physics professor who shared the 1964 Nobel Prize for his work in quantum electronics and who co-invented the laser has been awarded the $1.5-million Templeton Prize for progress in spiritual knowledge. He is an award-winning scientist who believes in God. A rare combination for many, but Dr. Townes doesn’t think so.“If you look at what religion is all about,” he said in a newspaper interview, “it’s trying to understand the purpose and meaning of our universe. Science tries to understand function and structures. If there is any meaning, structure will have a lot to do with [it]. In the long run they must come together.” Despite his many accomplishments and prestigious awards in the scientific field, Dr. Townes believes there is no greater question facing humankind than discovering the meaning and purpose of life.Charles Townes is 89 and he’s on a mission—a mission that has put him at odds with some of his colleagues over the years. In 1964, while a professor at Columbia University, he wrote an article: “The Convergence of Science and Religion.” When it was later published by MIT, a prominent alumnus threatened to break ties with the institution. But Charles Townes sees no conflict between faith and science. Indeed, he believes that recent discoveries only increase the plausibility of a plan behind the formation of our universe. The Big Bang theory (that the universe had a cataclysmic beginning) has so much evidence supporting it, he says, that most scientists who study the origins of the cosmos take it for granted. “The fact that the universe had a beginning is a very striking thing.” Dr. Townes said. “How do you explain that unique event without God?” In other words, mounting scientific evidence is making it harder not to believe in God.What makes this all remarkable is that Charles Townes is a great scientist. Someone else could make these statements and not many people would care. The excellence with which he has pursued his work has lent credibility to his beliefs, making them harder to dismiss by those who do not share them. Think of the young students he has affected as a Nobel Prize winning professor. It does not appear that his belief in God is anything he has been quiet about. And now he joins a very illustrious group of those who have received the Templeton Award ahead of him, including Mother Teresa and Billy Graham. And yet all of this comes down to a man who believes that God created us with a purpose, and that’s something you and I can understand. Charles Townes has simply brought that belief to bear on his work and we can do that too. We probably won’t receive the Templeton Prize for it, but that doesn’t make what we do and represent any less significant. Besides, we’ve all got a big prize waiting for us in heaven. For the complete article see “Physicist Wins Spirituality Prize” Los Angeles Times, March 10, 2005, p. A10.

I have no need to be jealous of anyone else. I'm have been blessed with a good family, a comfortable home, and good friends. I am not rich, by any stretch of the imagination, but I have more than I need to be happy and content. Other peoples wealth and success does not affect my outlook on life.

I noticed something, but not sure I want to discuss it. But I did go: "OOOOh look at that!!!"

It is probably because Daniel's dad passed away several years ago. Since most of what he writes about is current, it would make sense.

I try to be a silent observer on the forum, for the most part. however I felt I need to post an answer you questions -- if you were to post something about these problems on the forum and Daniel read them -- yes, I truly believe that he would try to encourage you. He really cares about other people and what they are going through. He would be the first to do what he could to help.Daniel is 'only human', and all humans need to be encouraged at times. People in high profile seem to go through even bigger ups and downs than most people, just because of the type of situations they find themselve facing each day. However Daniel is also blessed to have a good group of friends (close personal and not so close forum), and he also has his faith to help him through the troubling times. As with any friend, we can let him know that he is in our thoughts and prayers.but tell me this--when my kids are having trouble in school and im depressed about it----is daniel gonna help me out?????----when im struggling with a relationship with a family member who i havent spoken to in 6 years, am i gonna get a blog entry telling me to keep my head up? -
The idea is, people can bring up topics for discussion. There is no problem with stating you view of that topic as long as you do not resort to name calling and/or 'bashing' the others who post. No one agrees with another person 100% of the time, so disagreeing, in a civilized manner should be acceptable. Pointing out someone's spelling errors is not a big deal if it is done in a nice way. (However some spelling errors are really just typo's)If religion is not a suitable subject for a poker forum, why can music, movies, etc be discussed? Most are also unrelated to poker. Isn't that what is meant by "Off Topic" .

Luck or skill?March 08, 2005Phil Hellmuth went into a hand with a great local player Andy Gamboa. Phil had QQ, Andy had AA. The flop was no help to either player.A Queen came on the turn to give Phil the pot and knock out Andy Gamboa. At the time Phil had $25 left.We made the comment that that is how you win major championships. Phil has said that he never gets lucky. He got very lucky on this hand.
