  1. This whole weekend has been a bag of ***.-I find out my ex gf, who i just started seeing w/ again, has been screwing my best friend for 2 years now. How did I find out? I walked in on them, IN MY F-ING BED! Just like that damn phil ivey commerical.-Online poker is going to be banned.-In my anger, I hooked up w/ my ex's younger sister, who is 17 (aka illegal).-I got mugged for 1,000.00 in philly.-My brand new car (volvo s60) got rear-ended, and the person who did it doesn't even have f-ing insurance. I am considering checking myself into the local hospital tonight just to be safe.

  3. well looks to me like you are at best a coinflip, you want to flip now or not? a very very tight player likely wouldnt do this with less than KQ am i right?
Basicially I figure I'm either racing or killed. His UTG raising range is AA-JJ, AK AQ, and maybe KQ suited. Out of these possible, I'm up against AK, KK, or KQ. I folded.
  4. What do you do in this hand?Situation: Live 9 man sng. Starting stack of 1,000. 6 remain, 3 payed. Blinds are at 50-100. My stack is 700 (M of a little more than 4). I am UTG+1. UTG, a very very tight player with a stack of 900 accidently exposes a King of spades (I told him earlier that night not to pick up his cards, but he didn't listen). He then raises to 350. I look down at JJ. Rest of table is a mix of loose and tight players. What is your move?

  5. I'm raising here.Based on action, looks like you're facing possibly a low set, two pair, or a small flush. Villian 1 has already called a bet and a raise on the flop, and then bet the turn. Villian 2 has raised on two streets. They both have hands, it makes no sense waiting around.Raise it up (not necessarily all in), and hope you don't get sucked out on.

  6. When the cards slap you in the face there's not a whole lot you can do about it. The best advice I can give you is to try your best to not let it phase you. As hard as that may be, and believe me it IS hard, it's just something you must do in order to save yourself from going crazy. Poker is all about making correct decisions, and as long as you make those correct decisions then you will be a winner. Sometimes you may make correct decisions and the results will not be what you desire (ex, getting drawn out on by a 2 outer on the river), but keep in mind that, because you did make the right decisions, you gained from it and your long-term results will show that. Don't let a bad run of cards kill your confidence, just keep playing smart poker and eventually your variance will turn around. Good luck.
Such a cookie-cutter, text-book, just fresh off of reading Sklansky, broken-record response. Nice first post.
  7. Keeping emotions out of decision making and slowing down.I can't tell you how many times I've seen a player take 20 seconds plus to make a preflop call/fold decision, and then make huge bets or calls deep into a hand w/o the nuts in less than 2 seconds. Use all information and take your time. Easiest skill to learn IMO.

  8. The odds are there. If you are hesitant about calling here and you understand that the odds are in your favor, then you are playing too far above your bankroll. In a tourney, you can argue for this fold because although you are getting odds, you are risking your tournament life with not that huge of an edge.In a cash game, when you can rebuy at will, there is no reason to fold this hand given the math expressed above by our forum math whizzes. :club:
