OK, what if villian pairs his kicker on the river. You can't save the stack if a J hits and villian tables KJ or whatever the non-4 kicker could be, it's just a bad beat just like the 4 hitting the river. I don't understand why we are saving our stack for a non-4 when any card could just as easily ruin the hand for us. I know you are a far better player than I, which is why I'm trying to understand this concept for this particular hand.

Trouble on the turn..the river is a fairly standard fold. We should never be flatting this turn, get it in on the turn and cry when the 4 hits the river.

QFTThis reminded me of a tournament I played the other day where I got my aces cracked at the final table. I was a little tilted, but I remembered how lucky I had gotten earlier to even be at the final table. Just remember you have to take the good with the bad, and these beats happen at ALL LEVELS. Here are the hands I'm talking about, first one I'm short and got lucky as hell to survive and then the beat I took at the final table.
