Umm, no the general population does that by shelling out the outrageous $$ for tickets. No one is worth 26 million per year. A majority of the households in this country are about one paycheck from going broke. The average credit card debt in this country is circling the $10K mark and growing. As larger salary employment leaves this country, over time, will have a major impact on discretionary income and in turn and sports entertainment. They better count their blessings now, because the next generation will not have the $$'s to spend on the over-priced tickets.About the MLB unions. Umm, they help major league baseball players earn a lot of money. -
I agree, it is a circle! But, how long before the circle comes around to us again and how long will it stay, Remember Made in Japan ? El Guapo is correct as well with supermarkets. I worked for 11 years in a supermarket in NY and margins did run around 1-3 % but if salary expense was to decrease I would like to think that the savings would be passed on to the consumer rather than an increase in company profit. I now own an Ace Hardware store and Ace corporate, as I am sure are many other large corporations, are dumping a boatload of money into overseas expansion. It's a circle -
OK, from what I have read about the motion picture industry boom in Canada has little to do with the exchange rate but rather the high cost of doing business with the unions. Kevin Costner and Robert Duvall filmed the movie Open Range in Alberta but the set was to look like Montana. Watch the extras on the DVD and Costner will explain why he took the movie to Alberta, and how he cut his overhead by more than one half.Living in Michigan, the automotive capital, I have watched all the tool and die business leave one after the other. Why?, The union wage with benefits. The companies will either relocate to Mexico, Canada or another state that is not run by unions (Ex Tennesee). The previous and current union generation will leave no manufacturing jobs for their children. The children of the current union generation will be forced to work at significantly lower wage retail positions and have to work considerably later in life than their parents have. And yes, the unemployment rate is decreasing, but why? is the question. You are no longer considered unemployed if you reached your limit that you can draw (and your still unemployed) or if you took a job at walmart because nothing else was available. I am no economic wizard, but I dont think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out that you can't look at the unemployment rate by itself, but rather compare it to the decrease in wages as well. I don't agree with how the war has progressed but I don't know why it is always blamed on the war. We all agreed on 9/12/01. The United States worries too much about collateral damage, humanitarian relief and rebuilding a democratic society. You will never win a war against an enemy on their terrain who can hide, wear civilian clothing to blend with civilian population and most importantly, it is a reward to die, if you worry about civilian casualties. Why do we worry about collateral damage in our enemies country so much when everyone that fell on 9/11/01 were civillian casualties. What ever happened to shock and awe?

this should answer the basics http://www.autism.com/autism/index.htmis autism something your born with or you develope it erly in your life ? what are symptoms and signs ? -
Please Moderator do not move this post. It is a prediction that this is what DN's next blog will cover. It is my understanding that Daniel had attended a fundraiser in LA for Autism last week. My Godchild (girl) was diagnosed with Autism within the past year and I do not think people realize how common Autism is in today's society and the numbers are growing. As of this year, 1 out of 150 children born in the US will be diagnosed with Autism. Males outnumber females 4-1. I never even gave it a second thought until it hit home and I find these numbers staggering and increasing every year. Daniel, when you get a chance, I would love to hear what you had learned at this Jenny McCarthy fundraiser and the impact it had on you. Let's take a break from global warming and shift here for a while. Now that Daniel has become a member of Pokerstar's elite, I would love to see a Pokerstar's Tournament to benefit the Autism Research Institute. Daniel, motivate the people at Pokerstar's to create an event so that the people of the poker world can leave their mark in helping a disorder that has such staggering odds. I know you are very busy, but hit the blog with this when you can. Greetings from Michigan!! We will try to keep the snow away if you are coming to town for Thanksgiving this year.Peace,Mike

Umm, It's his employment and career. Also, playing intense poker for a month can wear anyone down. Do anything over and over dampens spirits, we are creatures that crave diversity. -
Well, if I was to make that statement it would be a foolish one, but not for yourself. Your instincts are top notch and you have proven that over and over again (sometimes scary). My only observation and concern was you don't seem the same. You started out awesome this year, bought a new home, new dog (always a plus) and you did not have to travel for a month. With all of those factors considered, I thought your reports would be upbeat and positive. When I didn't see that, something wasn't right. It seems you realize that something is wrong and I hope whatever it is, it works out for you. It should work out, because you have made many moves in positive directions. Peace my friend! As for the main event, I'm super excited to draw day four and FULLY expect to be there in the end. I know that if I play my game and avoid any real disasters, I'll be in the hint for it all. As stupid and as foolish as this is going to sound, I seriously think I'm going to win it. -
I would prefer to consider this a constructive comment but many would probably think not. I have noticed such an attitude change in DN over the 6 months. With such positives as a great start to 2007, the purchase of a new home, and the optimistic approach to all of the WSOP events, DN's attitude is really weird. Late nights, partying, showing up late and no shows will create poor performances in anyone's career (whether it be poker of bagging groceries at Walmart). In his last video it looks like his eyes are going to fall right out of his head.I never really cared for Hellmuth but respected his excellent playing ability. I never realized that he is not only a great poker player but a great sales and business man. When PH is on camera for a blog, he is standing, pumped up and full of positive energy. He is not laying down or slumped in a chair and is well prepared to talk. I dont know exactly when DN's metamorphisis took place, but it seems to me that when FullContactPoker was removed from US players the first time, the blogs took a different direction and they became more infrequent. Many nights during the week you could play at a table or in the same tourney as DN, chat in the main lobby chat room with him, but when FCP came back online, you had to wait 10 minutes just to play someone heads up. This isn't a bash or a negative post, but rather an observation of a person who has followed him closely. I have read his blogs, articles , books, played on FCP and watched him on TV and have noticed that over the past year or so a rather large change in him that is not necesarily good at all. I no longer frequent the website because I know there will probably be nothing there and when there is, it is now someone who looks they are burning the candle at both ends and not a real caring attitude.Does anyone else notice this or is it just me?

how much time were you spending on line? 2 hours a day over the course of a year is exactly 1 month solid on the computer surfing.

ITS A JOKE!! another Imus hater, doesnt know a joke when he sees one. Now I know why DN gets attacked on everything.Maybe you should look up the theory behind global warming before you press the "New Thread" button. That being said: Lock it up! -
and ask them, "how is that global warming doing for ya?". Two days before Uncle Sam's holy day of obligation and I'm plowing baby (I am about 40 miles north of them).Mike

OK, I found the DN's blog amusing, but what pisses me off is that I paid the full dollar amount for 3 autographed copies of his book and he has his wife handing them out at a shelter. After all, I am basically homeless now after reading the book. PH is such a nit wit sometimes.

Who in their right mind would make that wager. With so many opportunities for bracelets, and 18 pages of stats for both players combined (on cardplayer.com), I think either bet would be suicide. I believe that both Hellmuth and Negreanu will both bracelet in 2007. They also have 9 2nd place WSOP finishes combined. I wouldn't bet it even for 5 bucks ( well, maybe for fun, but I would still be cheering them on). I know a lot will break down the math to calculate if the bet will be profitable or not like Daniel did, but with so many bracelet opportunties offered, combined with a solid resume, look out!! No one will make that wager for 100K, unless they are looking just to piss away some cash.

Agreed, its all random and neither is predetermined. In a live game you can only be in one spot at one time. On line, you can be at numerous tables at once (and if you are as talented as Elky, you can play 12+ tables simultaneously), therefore experiencing more suckouts and possibly not your best play because you attention isn't focused on one table. In my opinion, seeing more hands is a shorter period of time will create the illusion of a higher rate of loss. Compare apples to apples and play your same game and a single table online, and I think it would be close to the same. Even though there are no physical tells to be seen, there are online tells (patterns of play) that can be picked up to give you an advantage.Well, Online poker is exactly as random as live poker. See, online poker decks are shuffled by algorithms that rely on random number generators. These generators aren't 100% random in that they are still generated by a computer. It is extremely hard though to forsee what the next number will be. In live poker a dealer shuffels the cards. This is not random since his precise actions produce a shuffled deck. This is still not random, but it is so hard to predict what the next card is that it is considered random. -
Umm, OK...fill me in... what was the hand? Were U2 there? He didn't fold like he should have, when Nick raised him 9000. I would have folded in that spot. -
WUH Happpened? I was following on card player and seen the flush hold up against the trips building you to $36500.00 and then 2 hours later you were out without a hand listed. Watched you on PPT last night and you played amazing. I wish I had 1 iota of the table talk skills you have. Entertaining and friendly, yet at the same time intimidating. I was hoping to be attached to cardplayer for the next 3 days, but I look forward to the next. Keep your spirits up and positive thinking.

Well, I am a no vote for dumping, but you have to do what you have to do. After all, it was good while it lasted, but you don't owe anyone anything. I have always enjoy reading it and this one is exceptional. In fact, I didn't think this was a blog topic but rather a book topic. I truely believe that rather than a strategy book, a book of experiences would be huge. Cops as well as non-cops, love cop stories. Television shows took off like wild fire with random cop stories. I don't see your stories being any different, living on the edge and a half a step from going broke. I love poker and probably play too much, but I would never have the guts to take the risk that you did early on in your career. That is 100% guts. And people love to read about huge risk-takers. Even though you have won millions, I can only imagine a few bad sessions in a very large game would do to that. I would like to know how a player like yourself, who has been fortunate enough to have the success that you have had, secures enough money away, so that you never have to worry about your future and retirement. If you quit this blog, write the book!

I wish you well. You had me glued to cardplayer.com for 3 days the last time. I just prefer the simple things in life I guess, and that is what your blogs were. Maybe, the simple blogs (poker and general life) were boring to others in here but I found them entertaining. Money and being the best in your field didn't stop you from connecting with people who are distant from the goals you have achieved. You can't find that just anywhere. But, controversy, animosity, back-biting, you can get that anywhere.I haven't played poker much lately. I'm on a little break before the LAPC. When I actually play poker, I promise you the blogs will be about poker again. -
My point is why even bring it up. Why do you have to point out someone's race. Is it really an important fact in the story. This blog and forum used to be good, as a matter of fact very good. FCP used to be good and DN's participation made it even better. You never hear about FCP anymore in here or from DN. It was the fact that he had hands on participation within his own online poker community made it superior to other sites. I used to look on here everyday, but now the blog and forum focus has migrated from poker/sports to politics on a consistant basis. Now I look maybe once a week, and its the same (small) group of people posting and reposting all the time. Look back in the archives and you will see how the focus of this blog has changed. Politics and religion didn't bring people in here, poker did and so did one of the greatest players to ever play did. Topics such as global warming that people in here will spend countless hours aguing. Please, how does anyone in here know the truth. I don't know if global warming is effecting the ozone. Do I care about the possible end of civilization? No, I don't want to see civilization come to an end. Will people be responsible for the end of civilization? I don't think so. The forces of nature are a hell of alot more powerful than the little specks we are on the face of this earth. All its is, is 2 sets of scientific data, and each one has a lot of spin on it. One little hiccup from this planet and its all over. If anyone thinks that we here on earth are going to change the course of nature, your nuts. The natural course of nature brought this planet here and it will take it away.Jeez DN, go back to poker, golf and sports.

I find it quite interesting and somewhat amusing that you do a skit in black face, and now there is a disclaimer attached to everything you write. Got the dog from an asian, I like asian people. Named it Marley, don't take offense those of mixed races. You have stated that you associate better with blacks more so than whites in previous blogs. Just the fact race is pointed out, is racism. It is not discrimination or prejudice, but it is racism by definition. By the way, I just named my 3 new fish, that I adopted from a Hispanic friend, The Mouth, Greenstien and Kaplan. I do hope the Jewish Poker League doesn't get after me for that one. I love Jews and Hispanics and not all Jewish poker players are fish.

It's been below zero here all week. Minus 25 last Tuesday. Congrats to Michigan for doing their share in the fight against global warming. Someone send me a parka.

That is an edited quote and never did I say drug user. Speak for yourself, I do not find this humorous and I want it removed.Mike was probably just having a bad day, and as usual with drug users -
Mike was probably just having a bad day, and as usual with most people, things that bother you a little snowball when something is wrong. I wouldn't worry about it. At least he called you to hash it out and tell you how he felt rather than hold a grudge. Happens to the best of friends all the time. Next season, let Gabe give him equal time at the mic. Actually I thought you were a natural at it.

What a shocker for such a young man. I would love to hear DN's experiences with such a great player. His TV persona seemed to be nothing but class.RIP
