  1. Daniel, just curious but how are all three of the games you mentioned 'goofy?' I really enjoyed the triple draw chapter you wrote for SS2. Have you changed your mind since the book came out?
  2. for hand #2, he did have the best starting hand and most probablly did look at his cards, but regardless he did hit a second consecutive 1-outer on the turn here. But the biggest bad beat of all was that the first hand didnt qualify for the bad beat jackpot, bc we were playing higher than 15/30.
  3. This was my first 20/40 game, I usually play 10/20 and 15/30. Both of these hands happenned during my first 4 hands at the table. We were playing 6 handed.Hand 1:UTG raises, a middle player calls, I look at 2 black aces and make it 3 bets, the blinds fold and the other two players call. The flop comes Qd Jh Ah; utg checks, middle player bets, I call. The turn is the Qh; utg checks, middle player bets, i call, utg raises, middle player calls, i re-raise to 3bets, utg makes it 4 bets, middle player folds, I make it 5 bets, utg calls. The river is insignificant; utg bets, i raise, utg re-raises,
  4. affleck won a big buy-in tournament in california a few months back. i think it was something like the "california championship of poker"
  5. Its a phenomenon called going bad. It eventually happens to all regular players. There is know way to fight it. Just take a break, that's all there is to it. Don't play for a couple of weeks, and take some time to reflect on your game. Fix your weak spots; I know you're getting drawn out on, but even world-class players work on leaks in their games. The important thing is to stay positive. Do not play again until you are CERTAIN that you will win and promise yourself that you will play the Best poker that you know how to play.I had a similar bad run in late March. I was playing 10/20 an
  6. Expected win rate?......There is no magic and precise formula to determine your expected value for low buy-in no limit games. Everyone on this forum who has a couple poker books thinks they're a winning player, that they are experts and everyone else is a "fish". The reality is, almost noone on this forum is a great player. Anybody with a calculator and some rudimentary understanding of pot odds can grind out a few big bets per/100 hands on the low limit tables online.WTF about 'consistent earnings'; does everyone on here think that, because they have been playing the low limits for a coupl
  7. What in God's name are you guys talking about? Are y'all really that ignorant. Sorry to seem harsh, but tipping poker dealers in casinos is standard, customary, frequent and common- get a clue. Over 95% of players in all B&M cardrooms tip their dealers. Its how the dealers make a living. Tipping is just part of the game.Yes, pros are trying to make a living, but so are the dealers. Both sides understand this. Toking the dealers is just an equitable way of doing business.Get a clue, really.
  8. Just bc a players "best" play is to do something doesn't mean he did or would make the "best" play available. Figuring a players hand based on how you would play it is a mistake. You have to try to figure it based on how he played it, not how he "should have" played it. But, obviously this player is unpredictable, so trying to predict what he is doing is foolish.
  9. sorry, got the quote backwards...but y'all can see what I was going for
  10. Knowing when to quit winners is an important part of playing good poker. I dunno about this. If it is a "fishy" table, I'm not crazy about leaving. And I think knowing when to quit as a loser is more important than learning to quit as a winner.
  11. I never keep playing in games like this when I have significantly more money than the rest of the table. The risk/reward ratio is simply not right. I have the chance to lose a lot of money to players if they get lucky, but zero chance to make anymore real money. That is, in many of these low buy-in NL games, once players get short stacked, they simply go all in and try to get lucky on you. This is great if you are a casino or have an infinite bankroll and can afford to risk a huge chunk of your chips with only a marginal edge... These all-in preflop fests equate to more of a mutual gambling
  12. hi guys im a frequent visitor to the site, but seldom post. im going to paris for a month this summer and was wondering about public cardrooms in and around paris. if anyone could share any info i'd really appreciate it. thanks
  13. I just read the book and it is awesome. It has some great info on game theory, tactics, etc. ... But, it is also teaching me to think about the nuances of poker in a much more in-depth manner. As for it being up there with supersystem - it is absolutely equal to or better than it. Words of caution though --- it is not an easy read and you must really focus if you want to absorb all of the info contained in it.Actually, I finished it last Tuesday and played in my highest limit game yet ($10-$20) and I was the big winner... 82 big bets!... I was catching cards, but I was also making my decisi
  14. Thanks for you honest reply Rich. His strategy probably is the best bet for a newbie...Please let us know how the intermediate section works out for you.
