KK there are two features i like about these forums that can help you. One is the recent posts board on the main screen. The second is my posts. You can find any thread you have posted to there. And the 2+2 limit breakdown is one of the reasons us RGPers dont like it. Thats all 'poker theory'. If they want to break it down, why do they keep the theory section? PS can anyone understand what the frick they are talking about over there? "If my VP$IP is 30.2, and i have aggression factor 6, playing Ax-aT style on a type 6 table, how can i reduce my P/xyz levels?" HUH? -
First, I would like to apologize for any "fishermen's tales" that have been told. I know you are aware of the concern we have always had about discussing our game with anyone. I think you are aware of the way the media can distort anything they write about.Doyle isnt necessarily apologizing for spreading rumours, but rather for failing to correct their inaccuracies and allowing them to perpetuate. And SS2 is scheduled for release on Feb 1st, so retailers could have them and just be ignoring the release restrictions.

LOL smash clearly you have a better poker intellect than 99% of the posters here, but i can see why you spark insult-filled debates. Your style, for whatever reason, comes off as, um, self-assured. Care to prove, mathematically, why it's 'not close'? Or shall we just assume that you are right... -
Just thought id let you know this guy has very little idea what hes talking about. This article is basically a bunch of quotes from other articles, which themselves are the 'fisherman's tales' which Andy is so mad about and which doyle has apologized for spreading.
-
Good point. However, we are not talking about 99% of the population. We are talking about Andy Beal, a billionaire, and Howard Lederer, who was playing on the bankroll of 'the corporation', a multi million dollar entity. In relation to the stakes being played, $20 million was not a lot of money.

Oops, smash, didnt see your post. By getting the money in before the flop, you GAIN money from players who are folding if they don't fit on the flop to any bet. How are you getting more money out of them by not getting a second bet AT ALL when you could get it in pre-flopwell, one example would be that you might lose money from anyone who hits something like middle pair, or top pair weak kicker, especially if that TP is an ace. They will be much more cautious now that you've raised, and much less likely to reraise you at any point without improving. People who would have continued that you get -

Ok now this loops back into my original thought which was is this the best way to get maximum money into the pot... you still havent addressed that. So the new question is, at a mid limit table, playing fairly loose, do you think betting AK from the bb into a field of 5-7 limpers will gain you bets or lose you bets by the river? if gain, please refute the argument that you will lose action on further streets. Dang, im gonna have to run a few sims on this one now. PS im not saying you are wrong, i would just like to discuss some poker, and you seem like my best chance to get a comprehendable re -
not ur fault, someone started a second thread bout the same topic. check the forums for "the big game at bellagio..."

Holy Toledo, Batman, an intelligent response! What a rare treat from FCP. All kidding aside though, an interesting take. Point 3 was debated at great length on RGP. Would your view change depending on the # of limpers? I can see the fold equity argument with 2 maybe 3 limpers, but what about a table where 5-7 limp? You likely wont be able to buy that pot without a showdown, no matter what the stakes. And you are out of position to 4 or 5 hands now at least. Im not debating the equity edge, im just wondering how to extract max value from it. -
Yea thanks that letter has already been posted....and FYI Andy is NOT a regular, and the big game is not a regular thing. You are thinking of the 4k 8k game at the B, which Andy doesnt waste his time with, precisely because of the fact that the money doesnt matter to him.
-
Ok, there is absolutely no sentence that could follow this that would make me agree. Are you Andy's PR rep or something? You were defending him tooth and nail in the other thread too.My view is this: I don't know anything about Andy Beal. I don't know Doyle Brunson personally, but I have read alot that he has written, and a lot that has been written about him. From everything that I have seen, he is a truthful and honorable man. Why would he lie? He has nothing to gain and everything to lose if he is pegged as dishonest. How about this sentence: THE STAKES WERE 100K 200K. And to say that

Yes, Beal is "the banker". and gates has also been spotted playing 3-6 holdem, and politely refusing offers from just about every high limit player to sit down with them. -

"There was no hostility in my post"i refer you to your post which reads "are you his poker coach?". Either that question was rhetorical and extremely sarcastic, which would be fairly hostile, or you asked that question honestly, which is a whole other story."I dont have time to read all his threads"You didnt have to, you just had to read more than the title."Online poker is a sh*t trap for anyone and everyone"I will assume you are insinuating that online poker is rigged. This is an argument made primarily by players who have lost money online. There is little logic or proof to it, but there ar -

lol dont you know anything? Charlie is a high roller, who deposits 50k on a whim, plays all the big games, and has already secured a job at a hedge fund guaranteeing him earnings of $1m + not to mention the 250k per yr. he will definitely be making on the side from "poker crap". stop bragging about your lousy 80k, you cheapskate. Oh wait, those were all lies. Nevermind...

$20 million is not a lot, that is what you need to understand. It is 100BB, which is well within acceptable variance for heads up limit play. those kinds of swings likely happen every few hours in that kind of game, Todd likely just quit Beal at an opportune moment.

hes not his poker coach, but smash has answered your stupid question already in about 3 or 4 threads. I will do it for him one last time. HE DOESNT NEED THE MONEY. HE DOESNT CARE ABOUT 1000$. HE IS FINANCIALLY SECURE AND A WINNING MID LIMIT PLAYER. HE IS DOING THIS AS AN EXPERIMENT, AND AS A LESSON TO MORONS LIKE YOU WHO THINK YOU WONT GO BROKE PLAYING 1-2 NL WITH A 60$ BANKROLL. HE IS ATTEMPTING TO DEMONSTRATE PROPER BANKROLL MANAGEMENT. as for your other comments, they have all been answered as well. Maybe you should read the posts you are replying to. I'de like to hear it. I was going to give you the equity answer...that you should punish all the limpers with your superior hand. I think this may be only for low limits, though. Enlighten me, please.I guess it may make sense for micro limits where no one is thinking too much, but heres my theory with regards to mid limit poker:with a couple of limpers and no raisers, you figure to have good equity in the pot with AK. therefore, you would think that getting as much money in the pot as possible would be advisable. I would agree, except that raising preflop from the blinds is probably not the be -

Smash, this is not a criticism, so dont take it as one. However, i would like to discuss something with you. You comment that you should raise AK out of the bb. I would like to hear your reasoning for this if you dont mind. I play mid limits (5-10 to 15-30) so im not sure if you intend this advice to apply only to micro or not, but i have what i believe to be sound reasoning for why this is NOT a good play. Just interested to see the other side of the coin... I have a feeling you are going to tell me about how my equity figures to be higher than any limper, etc... right? If you have another re -

Texas billionaire and noted whale Andy Beal. The pros fall all over themselves to get into a game with him because he's not very good and has tons of money to burn.Card Player had a back and forth exchange between Beal and Doyle a couple of months back. Seems Beal wasn't happy about being disparaged in print by the pros, and challenged them to a game in Texas for super-high stakes.Well, in the interest of good information, Andy is not a 'noted whale'. Pros do not fall over themselves to get into his game. They struggle to raise the money required to even sit down with him. Andy showed up in
