So I am flying out to CA on Thursday. I hope to spend the first weekend in the Napa Valley. Then I am apparently flying to Phoenix for several days before flying back for my brothers wedding. He is getting married in La Honda on a friends ranch. Should be a fun time. We are staying at a B & B in Pescadero. Should be a very relaxing time.
Nice, have fun. I have a few friends that were just in Napa or somewhere close.

I assume that's good, otherwise you would have made a more sad post?
A little good and bad. I failed audit, but thought I had done OK on multiple choice and not as good on simulations. But I actually did pretty good on sims and not so good on MC. I really wasn't expecting to pass it first try but when I was done I felt ok about it and thought I had a decent chance of passing.
I passed Business Environments & Concepts (Economics type stuff mostly). I thought at best I might barely pass with 75, but I got an 80, no idea how. I had to have made some correct guesses on the MC taht were 50/50 at best.
Overall I'm happy I passed at least one of them so I can just focus on one test next quarter and hopefully finish up first quarter of 2013.

Halfway done with the CPA exam. The last two sections I've taken have gone the exact opposite of what I thought walking out of the exam.

So Vegas in June??? Also, how does everyone feel about renting a cabin in the early Spring somewhere and hanging out?

So for an army trip next year I'm proposing a few options:
Baseball game and other shenanigans in some major US city
Comic Con in San Diego
Washington DC tourism and shenanigans with the Shavers (though, we can't do the White House with Normy, but that's okay, we can skip that landmark).
New York City tourism appeals to me, too. Though September tennis doesn't really work out for me in terms of timing, but a Broadway show and New York shenanigans and tourism sounds fun.
I like the last two options best. I've never been to NY or DC, and we could catch a baseball game and shenanigans in either place. Is Norm banned from the WH?

I just found out after our last tropical storm that mine does too. Luckily I have a condo so I don't have to fix it, but we were having so much rain for about a month that is still isn't fixed yet. It only leaked the day we had something like half a foot of rain in one day.Well my roof leaks. I knew that it did but I didn't realize it leaked as bad as it actually does. I foresee some acrobatics in my future as I try and not kill myself on top of the roof fixing stuff. Luckily I have a bunch of climibing gear that I can break out of storage and put to use. The roof is exceptionally steep so it should be fun. I figure I'll tie off on the uphill side and rappel down to where I suspect the leaks are coming from. -
I like Asheville, but I don't think I'd want to live there full time. It would be a great place to be during the summer though, I just need to find a way to get rich first.Maybe look somewhere in Asheville? -
Yeah, same company. My old boss left in Jan and we didn't re-hire the position until now. Probably mostly to save money.Dustin, you are with the same company, right? Why did you have no boss and now you have one? -
Good looking dogs. I'd like to get one but probably won't as long as I am in a condo. It would also have to be under 30 lbs if I got one now.Not a bad view either, I miss the mountains.
Here are the dogs. They are above the house. We have a 1 acre lot. From the left we have Kaliko, Napa, Berlin. -
Good so far, it seems like he'll be much easier to get along with than the last one. It's been a couple hours now, how's the new boss working out Dustin?
I'm mostly done with school, I'm working on my CPA right now. Once I'm done with that I will probably have to take between 1 and 4 more classes just to satisfy some state requirements. Hopefully I'll only have to take 1 because it will just be a waste of money, I only need hours in business classes, they serve no other purpose.Based on the resume of the guy we just hired I won't ever be the controller here. I think the best I can hope for here is that we grow enough that a new position has to be created that would be a promotion. Our accounting manager has been here since the company started so I doubt she will be leaving anytime soon. I may have to look around once I pass the CPA.Once you get finished with school, can you be the boss? -
I have a boss for the first time in 7 months, this one seems a lot better so far than the previous.

Never had them but Kale chips sound like they would just suck.Either I suck at making kale chips or kale chips just suck.
You're already getting screwed, so shouldn't be anything new.I go back to work tomorrow. As usual, I am filled with trepidation about the changes that will almost certainly be in store, but it's worse this year because we have new administration. I am a peon and therefore powerless to change the changes. They usually screw the staff the worst. I'm sure it will be fine once I get used to it, but ugh. -
TP/MHIt's like you're a fly on the wall. I did hit an exacta box for $220 on my $2 bet.-

Damn, that sucks. Is it normal for a casino to rebid that often?Sounds almost as disfunctional as my office.Sorry I've been kinda MIA, but life's just been pretty boring lately.Work sucks, it's still really slow so we're not making much money.I go out drinking a few nights a week. Other than that, I stay home in the A/C since it's like 100 degrees every day. They're making us rebid for shifts at work.Again.Pretty sure I'm getting screwed.Again.Yes, at work. Not in a good way. -
Really wish Stars was still around. But after finding out more about Full Tilt I can understand why they just shut everything down.I'll still blame the gov't for not realizing what a huge income stream online poker could have been 6+ years ago and doing something about it then.Too cold in Canada, we need an island. So it's the Federal Govt's fault for shutting down Stars! Damn Govt. We should all move to Canada and build a compound...oh yeah, that idea has been done...except not in Canada. -
Sad to say, but I think it's this. Most of us probably don't even play poker much if at all anymore. I have played live once early this year, and a few sessions last year after Stars shut down.Plus with studying for the CPA, I just haven't had much time for anything else. Hopefully we can get a decent turnout for a Vegas trip next summer. I doubt this thread ever gets back to what it was before though. Is it the weekend? No, it's not. So where is everyone? Oh, that's right, everyone hangs out on FB now. I went to the FB page and saw no recent posts. Does everyone do the chat thing or is the FCPHA singing it's deathknell? I truly do hope to get out sometime and put a live face to the names, faces, and stories of the last few years. Living in the middle of nowhere makes it difficult and expensive to get out, even with lots of advanced notice.I will be traveling to CA in late Oct. early Nov. for my little brothers wedding. We may go to either Las Vegas or Tahoe for a bachelor thing. That is my only planned trip this year. I'm trying to save my money for retirement. That and we are so short handed right now we have been denying all vacations over 2 weeks. With the cost of travelling off island, 2 weeks is the absolute minimum time you want to take off. -
Some of those are great. So, I was just sitting here thinking of something witty or profound to say and was drawing a blank. Work is starting slow for tonight, which after the last couple of nights is ok. Lots of paperwork to catch up on. I'm in charge of the police blotter this last week and I get a small thrill when the Anchorage Daily News picks up some of my entries and reposts them. Here is one of my favorites for the week;Dispatch received a 911 call from a besotted individual reporting that his female friend was having a baby. Dispatch had information that the friend was not in fact pregnant. Officers responded and confirmed that no birth was imminent. The original caller stated he believed his heavily intoxicated friend’s water had broken all over his bedroom floor. Officers pointed out that it was more likely his friend urinated on his floor. People get a kick out of the blotter and we kind of spice up the verbage to try and appear witty, but honestly, you just can't make this shit up. I hope everyone has a wonderful night and day tomorrow. Peace, love, and happiness. -

http://lasvegasblog.harrahs.com/las-vegas-casinos/caesars-palace/the-linq-vegas-strip-gets-an-infusion-of-wow/They are supposed to have a new O'shaes in that place when it's finished though.Where did it go? -
I would say look in the roulette pit at O'Sheas but it's gone.If the dates coincide we'll have to cross paths.

Cancer certainly sucks, sorry :(This thread is becoming impossible for me to load, at least at work. Maybe it'll work better at home.

I don't think many people are worried about being Volved, though unfortunately it is something you have to think about. I think the reason that the TR's sucked last year is because there were only 6-8 people there I think instead of 20+. Hopefully next year it'll be better.Congrats on the promotion. I'm working towards my CPA, so hopefully I'll be getting one too when that is all finished up. It's so hard to spend my weekends studying though. So lets see, I was gone on my weekend for 2 days and there were 2 posts in 2 days? Wow, just wow!I've never been to KC and really wouldn't know what the attraction is. I heard they have awesome BBQ. Is there gambling in KC? I would guess yes as there are casinos pretty much everywhere nowadays. (except Alaska of course)You know something I noticed while reading the last couple hundred pages spanning 2.5 years? The trip updates suck. I mean you used feel like you were in Vegas with the group when everyone got back. Last summer's Vegas trip had ZERO updates or recaps. Nothing was said about where everyone went, what was done, what was eaten, how the gambling was. I was very disappointed in the whole catchup. I am wondering if that is one of the problems? Is everyone afraid of being Volded? I can definately understand it if that was the case but I would love someone who has been around more's thoughts.Lets see, I got promoted. Given my affinity to voicing my opinion this is actually a surprise to most people who know me. I have made a career of pissing off and alienating people who have a direct bearing on my career advancement. Example- stood up in City Council meeting and told them they needed to fire the City Manager (my bosse's boss) and vote out the current mayor.
It's slow for me too, it seems a lot slower since the "upgrade" for the forum. I hope it doesn't get as painful and slow to load as the original thread.Hate to say it, but I think it might be the size of our thread.I do sometimes open threads in OT General or Entertainment and they seem to move a lot quicker.Have fun in KC! I wish I could've joined you guys. My work schedule is just so screwy these days, taking little weekend trips is like impossible having only 2 days off. I miss working 4 10hr days a week. -
Hi Roger, good to see you back. It sucks about Vegas. I didn't go last year so I was looking forward to this year, but it would have been bad timing anyway.A lot of us are still around, just not as often.

TPIWWPThe meetup last night with Shaver was big fun. There were homeless banjo shenanigans and crushing camels to make smoking mintier. That's a cool invention. Her hair looks really cool. I'm surprised I noticed her hair cause I stared at her boobs an awful lot. So did everyone else at the Tilted Kilt. They had some nice mams, but Shaver's were much more glorious than anything those short skirt waitresses had to offer, adorable as they were.
