    Im looking for the cheapest possible options to get to Vegas on Friday 13th .. worryfreevacations.com used to depart from denver and they dont anymore. I realize its only a few days notice, but does anyone have any hidden secrets like who gives the cheapest flight deals or what not? So far , 2 people leaving friday , staying at the stratosphere is like 857 dollars .. any help would be appreciated lol .

    I could understand them not quitting after 18 holes have been played. Ego's get in the way and figured Phil just shot above his skill level that day and on the second day they would break even.Losing after 36 holes though , something should have told them they were getting outclassed and to pay up then and walk away.

    SnG Live - I feel confident. Will play ABC poker til headup.Ring Live - I play scared too often. Holes in my game : Can't seem to grasp pot odds, implied pot odds versus outs and what it all means.MTT - If I dont bust in the first level, Ill FT it. Overall : Need to develop a bankroll so im not playing with scared money ever.

    I saw a clip of the Ultimate Blackjack Tour the other night, was filled with big name pro's. One of the clips showed Freddy Deeb , yelling at the floorman and then throwing his chips onto the ground. Anyone have any information as to what happened?

    Well , for those that read my original thread .. http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-foru...showtopic=94585 I wanted to give a bit of an update. I did alot of revamping to my resume, made it look really nice and began blasting it out that evening on craigslist.com . Let me tell you, craigslist has alot more potential 'real' jobs than monster or careerbuilder. Whoever suggested it to me, I owe you alot. Ive been busy with closing down my position at my current job, and getting alot of interviews. My current employer (the job Im losing) has been real leniant with me, giving me plenty of time throughout the day to attend these interviews (while getting paid).I just cashed out my vacation as well, and that adds somewhat of a comfort zone too. I have some real strong offers on the table from a few medium sized companies here in Denver, and am now weighing my options.I wanted to thank the guys who took the time to write encouraging PM's and thread replies in the previous topic. Going thru this transition isnt as bad as I thought it was going to be.Ill keep all of you informed when I actually accept an offer. BTW , most of these offers are what I currently make, and 1 of them is actually a little more money. Wish me luck, Im off to my next interview. -- TAGjim

    LoL , I love my lady . I may have painted a picture not in the best light , but she means well . She's a senior fiancial anaylst for a major brewery here in Colorado , and has a BS in Accounting . Plus shes a poker player to boot , and damn good at rattling off pot odds and such , lol.     It's not about making the most money at a job, it's about a long term commitment doing what you like most. Find that passion and pursue it.Out of all of the responsibilites that you've done at your job there must be one or two that you enjoy the most. You should look at those seriously and see what options can come from them. Then do what everyone else has said, network network network to get an interview.Also, when you apply for a job (Lets say a web developer position) don't list about your political responsibilites you did at your current job. As a business owner in the web industry I assure you we don't care. We care that you have the knowledge & skillset to get a job done and putting more emphasis on that in your resume will help you get the job. If you do plan to pursue a web development position you can PM me for any help in cleaning up your portfolio/resume.Best of luck.

    Again , thanks for the replies .. I did alot of thinking / talking with the fiance last night about it all ... and I feel good about where I might land at. I realize that wherever I start I probably wont be making the same money I am now , but with how i did things here and progressed, I feel within a year I could be back to normal. And kurt, thanks for the headup on craigslist , I didnt even think to take a look at that. I noticed all monster is good for , is pretty much getting in touch with a recruiting office , which I may pursue that avenue but have generally had bad luck.Someone asked my skills .. well , Im an expert in excel / access / and word (arent we all tho) .. I learn proprietary systems pretty fast , and they dont give me much trouble (the one I use here at work is called TITAN) . I built our website with dreamweavermx and photoshop , along with some pretty decent knowledge of PHP. I know the guy who originally helped create PHP (he works for google now) . Now , the last year during the governor races , I was promoted to the Political Coordinator for my union here in Colorado. I was in charge getting 50+ volunteers to door knock, make phone calls , and distribute fliers about who our union was endorsing. I brought on around 50 volunteers myself , I created all of the advertisements on TV and radio (with 0 knowledge of how to produce a 30 second tv commercial) , I did alot of lobbying at capitol hill , and finally (please dont hold it against me) Colorado became an all democratic state (mayor , governor , house , senate) and for the last 3 weeks Im at it again working on the City Council elections. When I started this job , I didnt know anything about politics , and to 100% honest, I hate politics . But I must admit , rather than doing alot of office/databasing/website stuff .. it's refreshing to do something different. I still do all my previous tasks associated with the job , but I just take on other things because it makes my job less boring I suppose. And the meat and potato's of my job is , when Im not doing all those other things , I act as a Business Agent for this union. I talk to my stewards , I represent employee's throughout the grievance or termination hearings , blah blah .... Funny thing is , as a union rep , Ive always promoted to join our union for job security , yet Im at at will employee for the union with no contract , pretty ironic . LoL I have alot of stuff that I could throw on my resume ... but its so damn diverse. I just now have to find an employer that needs someone like me , lol . Guys again, I got to work today and I was totally suprised to see this at page 4, I really appreciated the comments and encouragement, Ill continue to check this thread all day and answer as best as I can. and I might just have to change my name to TAGJim

    well , i work for a prominent labor union. seriously. I do the book keeping / web design , administration /database and politcal work. As god as my witness, I rarely ever put in a 40 hour work week, but thats because when I had the work, I did it as fast and as best as I could do. So it free'd up alot of time . I was kinda ... a "jack of all trades , master of none .. " As i was able to handle different things, I got different job titles and more pay .. so yea .. If you truely wanna be a slacker, go work as a hotel night auditor. Best job at 20 I ever had .. i think things are going to be ok. tomorrow, im going to my office .. gonna let my boss know im there, and proceed to take my resume and tailor it to 4 different job types , and then begin to post like a madman on careerbuilder and monster. wish me luck , and again I appreciate all of everyones comments. I will be posting here as soon as I land another job ..

    I wouldn't start a card room. Haven't you heard of the local games getting busted lately? There was one in Denver that got busted last year, a room in either Larkspur or Monument before that, Kafeneo got busted also last fall.Like others have said, network your *** off these next 25 days and hope for the best.I have a couple of contacts in the finance industry (Mass Mutual, Lincoln Financial), you can PM me for details if you would like, but I'm in employee benefits, not finance, so I may be of limited assistance.     College has crossed my mind . I have about 2 years completed of General studies from a community college that I could transfer. My whole thing with college is .. Looking at the national studies of what college graduates with a 4 year degree right into the business world .. with what they initially start out at , and how much debt theyve accumulated from school ... makes me stray from that option , as Im making more than the national average (well .. was ) and without all the debt of school loans. Ive toyed with the idea of going back to school ..

    wow man I found your story pretty interesting especially the last part how you said you're in DENVER. I am too! Where abouts are you????? What company do u work for?Man whatever you do dont put all your eggs in one basket and risk that money in poker, that would be the worst thing to do if anything play a little bit of 2/5 NL and grind it out if thats what your implying?The thing about Colorado is the POKER HERE SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS all the underground clubs got raided and Blackhawk is a joke but has decent amount of donkaments with some decent money.You ever goto Blackhawk and play?
    I would never put the remaining money I have , in poker. Im not good enough. And yea, Colorado gaming sucks **** .. I usually am up at the Gilpin playing in the psycho rebuys or thier shitty 5 5 dealer choice . I hate life right now.I just wanted to thank everyone for the nice comments left. Im suprised that I didnt get any flaming , guess thats why I love this community and have called it home for so long.

    It could be a lot worse. Keep your fiance by treating this as a temporary setback, being positive, and attack the problem. She'll admire you for it. Keep the house by doing the same things. A missed vacation is minor in the whole scheme of things.
    That is my plan of attack , but its extremely easy to get .. depressed , where Im at now.

    What sucks is .... Last week , my fiance and I , getting this money we were pretty stoked .. have a nice vacation in vegas , pay off all the credit cards .... and then the next week Im thrown threw this loop .. were all poker players here , and while we talk about maintaining our cool when taking a bad beat .... this bad beat scares the **** out of me . Nothing like uncertainty to **** up your day. Im genuinely nervouss / scared / anxious about whats in store for me next .. I was very comfortable in life , Work , lose at poker , work some more , lost some more at poker ... I had a good thing going. Ive already smoked a pack and a half , and its only 330

    I'm pretty confused. Maybe I just read it too fast, but with 401k$ could you not put that into a high interest bank account to begin with?Seriously if I had that $ i would be pretty chuffed, and not worried about a job. I mean if worst comes to worst, live off the interest or dig into it slightly whilst your studying or something. There are loads of good jobs that people have without degrees the only problem is that they have been with companies for years and worked thier way up or just learned the skills on the job. Your best option in my opinion is work out what you want to be, look at it as a fresh start and either join a company doing that and expect to be earning less but getting experience, or go learn the degree you need for it.or... just go find the same dam job as you were doing! nobody's job is unique :club:
    Not 401 thousand dollars ... a 401k .... my 401 k was implemented the second my pension was refunded to me ... only has like 4 grand in it . Id I had half a million I wouldnt be complaining or contemplating taking alot of pills.
