  1. What hands is UTG+1 going to raise with?A10 - J1099,1010, 88, 44, 77, 66, 55, JJ, QQ, KK, AAmuch smaller chance he'd raise with J9 or 79
  2. The local $1/2 NL game is made up a collection of pretty lose players with few exceptions.I have about $250 in front of me and have been playing pretty tight and several small pots. The table has been playing fast, it's six-handed and almost every pot has been raised pre-flop with heavy betting after the flop. Showdown hands have been very weak, with a lot of suckouts..With five limpers in front, on the button, I find QQ and raise to $15.SB has been playing very tight but seems new to the game and a bit timid. Calls.UTG+1 calls the raise. Pretty tight, but I would not say he's tricky.Playe
  3. After limping in, checking the flop and now betting a re-raising, I'd be hoping to get to showdown here. I'd be expecting to see trip 9s or 3s. Acting weak and then getting strong with a weak-ish minimum raise is suspicious. I guess it depends on your read and the dynamics of the table. As the big stack, I'd give people credit for not wanting to mess with me without having the goods. AK is about the only hand you can reasonably expect to beat here.
  4. heh. no. not a deep stack tourney. slightly better than the typical horrid party structure (+ a few extra starting chips).start with 1000 blinds double every 15 minutes? same as the qualifier?
  5. I like the quote.... I got in through a $30+3 190-person qualifier. Quality of play in it was pretty good once half the field was out. It took 4 hours, and I think there will be 2,000 people in this tournament. are you sure it will only take 8 hours to get to final table? I was thining more like 14
  6. anyone ever play/cash in this tournament? i'm playing it on Sunday.. a few questions..How long will it take to complete? How would you rate the overall strength of the field?Do most people play tight early and at what point will play open up typically? Thanks,Tim (portcityplyr on Party) if anyone else is playing this tourney.
  7. Interesting topic. I play $1/2 NL online a lot. If your opponents keep checking to you and then raising your continuation bets, I would take a note of it and start to vary my play. If you only lost $60 after those 5 hands, maybe your continuation bets or raises were too small and your opponents sensed weakness and took pots away from you sometimes? If you have KK or QQ and an over card hits the board in a raised pot. Raise to $9One caller and a $12 continuation bet with AK, KK and QQ if it's checked to me. If I just get called, i"ll probably fire again on the turn if it's checked to me, bu
  8. You're probably going to end up all-in anyway, but I might've called the re-raise and pushed on a safe flop. If he pushes all-in in front of me for $4000, at this level, I'd have to take it seriously... I don't know what I'd do, I've never been faced with a $4000 bet with KK. I'd probably swallow my tounge. Tough break, I think most people go broke here. You did say the BB was a tough solid player. Do you think he'd push all-in pre-flop with QQ-22 or AK? He might given your table image.
  9. I like to bet 1/2 - 2/3 of the pot almost all the time. I might've bet anywhere between $50-70 here, you should try and bet the same with a draw as you would with trip Ks here. Is this a 10-handed game? Playing AQ is risky, just be willing to drop it if you face heavy pressure.Your opponents checking the turn would seem to indicate they are on a draw or have a hand like KQ. I doubt trips would check the turn, but stranger things have happened, and I like the play on the river. I check/call a lot on the river, I don't think there is anything wrong with it in a pot this size.
  10. cardplayer has a new "Poker Analyst" that can track your P&L. It's pretty cool, just make sure you use it.
  11. This is also a good example of how people play differently in low stakes games. You raised pre-flop with Ac10c and everyone called. What's the point? You bet the pot on a 789board and got a raise and an all-in behind you. Who know what they have. Now you're out of position, it seems to me the best play is to re-raise all-in or fold, but you call, hoping to win the pot while risking as little as possible, completely ignoring fold equity since there is none really, since villain 1 is pot committed. I'd fold.
  12. Pot: ($46)Turn: AsHero is all-in, Villian 1 calls...Evaluate OK...please evaluate the hand...I think my pre-flop raise is fine, it's the standard raise at the table and it is 6-handed. I'd like to hear opinions on the flop and turn. Thanks
  13. not an option. short handed game. huge implied odds. :-)Ok, then I choose fold after the BB bets $12. Then again, I don't like to draw at gut shots. That's fine, but that's not the freaking problem. Go away if this is all you can offer. You are the tighest player here, congratulations. I'm talking about playing in the real world not in TOP.The player has $178 in front of him and you are pretty sure he'll put it all in if you make the straight. The point of the post, is never forget that your opponent has something.. what should you be afraid of on the river and how do you handle a scare
