my game is not much different than yours. were have a $50 min buy-in but its very normal for more than one player to by in for more than around $200+. its a 1-2 NL game, and yes sometimes its hard to get players off marginal hands but the bigger the pot the better it is for me ("the house"... that should sort of answer your questions about rake too)

like you said... you read TOP, and in THEORY OF POKER there is a quote from bobby baldwin. it says...."i've heard good players complain to me about how they get drawn out on all the time, but if they want to better their game and emotional state while playing, they should realize it's a mirage. if your an excellent player, people are going to draw out on you a lot more than you're going to draw out on them because they're simply going to have the worst hand against you a lot more times than you have the wost hand against them." anyway, this is something i remind myself a lot. especially -
im a big david williams fan but he just lost a huge chuck of his stack and is now at about $85K. its not looking too good for david as the blinds are increasing yet again. we'll keep our fingers crossed for him.

how would you play daniel in a heads up situation?
chach2046 replied to Saint Joel's topic in General Poker Forum
i would tell him that ive already got him beat no matter what, and then ask him if he just wants to split the prize money 50/50. hopefully he goes for it. -
so i have a weekly game at my house, its only a $20 buy-in. my problem is of 9 or 10 rotating players about 6 of them have no idea what they're doing. i mean honestly no idea. i saw two of them going at it big bets on the flop turn and eventually and all-in and a call on the river. the guy that went all-in turned over ace high, the caller showed ace high with a higer kicker. WHAT???!!!! now i know this would have been a brilliant play (calling), had he been an experienced player, but thats not the case here by any means. now that doesnt leave much room for a player to make moves and ive trie

i think the show blows. i was super excited to hear about a show about poker, even more excited to hear mike madsen was in it, and majorly dissapointed when i saw it. i dont think it does much to compliment the actual skill involved in the game.

im not sure if im really qualified for the job. i currently do tech support for earthlink internet, and to be quite honest, it kinda blows. sure the moneys good but id rather take a pay cut and make about as much as mushu does just to be part of the poker world......(day dreams for about an hour at his desk)...........anyway. thats all. this place sucks. hire me daniel! -
weirdest thing seeing this post..... i dreamt the other night that im at a table in a tourney and im doing fairly well when we have to consolidate tables and now im sitting infront of danny (i think it has alot to with with reading this forum everyday at work) across from lederer, annie duke and helmuth. and i remember thinking to myself, "crap! i guess that makes me dead money." and i remember turning to danny and saying, "your the last person i want to be acting before today." then i remember the pros kinda poking fun at me. joking but still being very nice and i eventually bust out and am

i was just wondering if anyone has any advise on "heads up" play. ive read all sorts of books dealing with short handed, but nothing that deals specifically with this topic. i find its where my game is most lacking. help!
