Raise or fold this preflop, playing 6 handed I don't mind raising this UTG from time to time to either build an image or loosen up a tight table. I just wouldn't make a habbit of it. I'm not sure I like the flop lead into 4 people with 2nd pair no kicker either. We don't really want to get called so we're pretty much turning our made hand into a bluff. I would like it better if MP was not in the hand thus guaranteeing us position on the turn, or if we had raised coming in preflop. Limping in I probably try to play this like a small pair and hit a "set", actually two pair, straight, big dr

With two limpers and poor position on following streets I'd raise this to more like $0.50-0.60 preflop. Also, lead stonger on the flop, 2/3-3/4 pot. As played the flop reraise is fine, UTG is most likey a draw or weak top pair. If the Button flopped a set I don't see how you get away from this for 35 big blinds.

Tp 2nd Kicker, Raised On Turn
Ricer98 replied to Ricer98's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
Playing LAG on UB I've been 3 bet by 77+, AK a ton, even as bad as AQ, AJ a few times. Granted with the range I raise with these plays are usually correct most of the time. -
Tp 2nd Kicker, Raised On Turn
Ricer98 replied to Ricer98's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
I don't know about other sites but there is usually a fair amount of reraising in the games on ultimate bet, coming from more than just the top few hands. Either way I'd expect to hear from AK preflop or on the flop so it is almost never in his range on the turn. -
Tp 2nd Kicker, Raised On Turn
Ricer98 replied to Ricer98's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
Any thoughts on betting the turn? Since this guy is some what tight aggressive I think he'd be reraising AK preflop, especially if he noticed my LAG style of play. Two pair hands don't make sense from a tightish player so I'm really only behind 22 or 99. No draws make sense, atleast not any significant ones, he could have peeled the flop with J10 or QJ. So if I'm ahead I'm looking at dodging 7 outs at worst, most likely 2-5. The only hands I can expect to call a significant turn bet are KJ or K10. With all this I think I should check the turn and try to make my hand look like a missed co -

Effective stacks are 280bb's, this is not the spot I want to play a big pot. If guy only has a 100bb I'd be more inclinded to try and get it all in since I probably have him beat most of the time.
-
Problem with this is if I bet and get raised he could be doing it with an ace or a draw. He had already pushed the flop with a straight draw on one hand and a flush draw on the other. So if he raises I still might have the best hand but have a very tough decision to make. Where as if I check to him I'm pretty sure hes going to fire out with just about any two cards.
-
This guy was calling with way more than an ace. He would probably call down with any pair, on the board or pocket, as well as any draw including gut shots. The more I think about this hand I think giving it up on the flop is the correct play because I am out of position. I called expecting the villian the bet the turn with a range my hand has crushed, but he checked. On the river I contemplated value betting but thought again given this guys history he will fire a pot sized bet with a range I am way ahead of. Changing the hand with me having postion it is so much easier to get value out of

I didn't mean it like that, like oh we can fold and we still have an average stack. It was supposed to point out that its not like we already put $20 of the $30 we started with in and only have to call of $10 getting 5-1 odds. We have a tough decision because its such a big raise.
-
We called the raise on the flop because he had been raising our continuation bets on a regular basis, so this doesn't necessarily mean a big hand. The flop call was not wasted money just because we are considering folding, we had a reason to call the flop based on past hands. On the turn we are given more information about the villians hand there for our decision can change. Just because we thought on the flop our hand might be good doesn't mean its automatically good now that we improved. We only have 35% of our chips in the middle, we still have plenty left and plenty reason to fold if w

Wow, this is an ugly spot. Any clue the range villian is check raising the flop with? It sounds like hes raising you light but how light, K high, any pair? Also how often have you been calling his raises? Not knowing much about the villian or the table dynamics, I really don't see him doing this with a hand you beat. Unless Q8 or lower is in his range to call preflop. If he had us beat on the flop why does he check raise the turn. If he was bluffing the flop, why give up the lead, hope we bet, and then shove in. I don't think our turn bet really shows weakness that he would shove again

Underfull Against Passive Player

I guess what I'm wondering is if anyone else comes to the same conclusion I did with this information and even thinks about laying this down. Obviously from the responses that answer is no. -
Underfull Against Passive Player
Ricer98 replied to Ricer98's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
I know I need a good read and I really felt I had it this time. I am so good at doing the "wow he has to have to me beat, okay I call, raise, ect." I'm trying to really start following my reads because more often than not they are right. This guy had been at the table for 2 hours, in that time he played 1 big pot, AA vs KK all in preflop. Another time he raised preflop with AA, the flop came very coordinated, he check called down very weak bets. I had not seen him show up with less than 2 pair after putting a raise in after the flop. When he makes a pot sized raise on the flop I rule out -
All of your examples are completely irrelevant to the situation of this hand. In the first hand 22 and 55 are a TINY portion of the villians range. People limp with very wierd holdings, of which pairs are only a small portion. KK, QQ, and AJ are definetly in the range of the first hand as well, its all player dependent. Either way, no one is arguing that open raising small pairs, or raising after limpers, is a bad play. The problem I have here is that we are trying to build a pot out of position against two players who have ranges a mile wide. Ignoring or saying position does not matter her

Not being at the table or knowing anything about the play of the CO and BUTTON, yes. Maybe horrible is the wrong word but I definetly don't like the idea not knowing anything about the situation.Every now and then I could see throwing a raise out here if for no other reason than to open up our range in future hands. Also they showed weakness by limping in from late position. I see the reasons for raising here but I'm still not sure I'd make this play against unknowns.

You hate getting to see the flop getting 3.5-1 odds with a small pair? Obviously raising would be horrible, but are you seriouly advicating folding this preflop?

One Card Straight Facing Overbet
Ricer98 replied to No_Neck's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
Am I the only one who hates preflop? Raising in general is questional and I hate only making it 4x the BB when 4 people have already limped in in front of us. All this raise is ever going to do is bloat the pot with us being out of postion. If your going to raise here I'd slightly overbet the pot and just hope to take it down. Something like $3.5-4, that way we alteast have some fold equity. As played on the river, I call it. -
I just got a 30 day trail of poker tracker today, unfortunetly I didn't have in game stats running at the time. Looking back over my session I saw the guy had an agression factor of 8, voluntarily put money in 40% of the time, raised preflop 15% over 139 hands. That aggression factor is extremely hight right? So, hes probably raising a flush draw on the flop. I don't know, I'm running so bad its starting to mess with my head.

With the multitude of draw I guess I proabably should have just gotten it in the flop.
