Aces - Missed Bet On The Turn?
Ricer98 replied to Money022's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
We're not checking the turn afraid of a set. We are checking because this is a fairly safe board and there are not alot of hands that can continue to give us substantial action. Where as, if we check the turn we will often get called by middle pairs or the guy will blow up with QJ for the rest of his stack after a duece hits the river. We make our hand look like AK, AQ, 88-99, 66 and below, which means the villian will call the river with more speculative hands because our range is wider. -
Aces - Missed Bet On The Turn?
Ricer98 replied to Money022's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
Any stats on the villian? Knowing nothing about his range or what he calls with its hard to know the correct decision. As played I'd bet more on the river. Unless we have 66 that card is a complete blank so our hand should look pretty weak. Your half the pot bet looks like it wants to get called, atleast to an obervant player, I'd bet 3/4 pot or more. I guess I like checking the turn to get action out of the weaker hands in his range on the river. Q9 has us in the worst shape with 8 outs, KQ only has 6, we don't have to worry about a J or 10 making two pair. Checking the turn a lot of han -
Usually a draw or a weak pair testing to see if its good, granted I had no clue if that transfers over to limit. I capped it preflop, if he had a huge hand why would he not check raise, or try to get an extra bet by check raising the turn? The table didn't seem that strong, I doubt the guy is leading out with KJ, KK, JJ hoping I'll raise, its possible but probably doesn't happen very often. I read the guy as weakish and tried to take control of the pot. In which case I think I should have followed up with a turn bet, as was mentioned. Unfortunetly, at these low of limits I'm probably not

This May Sound Pathetic, But I'm Desperate

Okay so I might have been drinking last night while posting and I think I misunderstood the orginal argument.Yes, you don't have to have a bigger bankroll to play to multiple tables. For a lot of players though, it isn't a bad idea. Playing 4 tables your SWINGS will increase so you can win or lose more in a give time frame. This can have great psychological effects on a lot of players when losing or are on a bad run. Its all going to depend on your emotional and psychological balance and control. Saying you need more buy ins playing more tables is incorrect, but so is saying you don't nee -
At the time I thought the raise was rather large but its actually a pot sized raise, which would explain how it came out so fast, he just mashed the bet pot button. This is why I'm so confused I didn't feel this guy was a strong kind of player that's going to make a bet that looks like it doesn't want a call when it really does. But, I could see him as a player that goes OMG I HAVE 3 Q'S I RAISE! The way this guy was playing, calling a ton against me preflop, I actually expected to win a big pot off him by him starting to call me down weak post flop. So when he raised so big so quick it re

Should I just be calling the flop since the pot is fairly large? Then probably folding to a second turn bet? I'm so used to NL just calling seems weak and I'm in the habbit of raising donk leads. Just a difference in approach depending on the game I guess?
-
I didn't say you were, I just really ment to say that with the insta min raise I don't think flop bet size mattered. It ended up just flowing into my reasons for folding just to get them out there.

In a limped pot like this I would never count your two overs as clean outs. Which was exactly the case here, I saw the results before they were edited out. People limp with alot of garbage hands that make a lot of garbage two pair, or bottom/second pair with a K or Q kicker. In which case you really only have 4 clean outs and can never be sure about any others. I've played these limits, I got my start at .01/.02 NL on pokerstars. As I said you don't need to bluff in pots like this. So many people are stacking off top pair no kicker you really need to just wait for hands. Plays like this

This is so so so so so so so so so so so so so so................. BAD! 5 people saw a limped flop and you are raising with a gut shot, wtf? You limped in, have nothing invested, fold to the first bet every single time.Don't ever bluff in the $0.02/0.05NL game on pokerstars.

Against certain villian's his range is so wide to reraise from the button. You yourself are raising from fairly late position so he is very easily making this play with AQ+, 99+. Possible even suited connectors or smaller pairs if he knew you had a tight range to call reraises. On top of that maybe he has a read on you, if you've been raising often from late position he could be adjusting and reraising lighter. His raise is also fairly weak, less than 3x your bet. Make it $10-15 on top of his raise and probably just get it in with no reads. Also trying to check raise after 4 betting preflo

Acid is 100% correct here. It's correct that playing multiple tables will lower variance if you are constantly making correct decisions. You can play 4x as many hands and therefore make 4x as many correct decision which will level out your variance. What people are over looking is that if you are playing 4 tables and not making correct decisions, or are on tilt, YOU WILL LOSE MONEY 4X AS FAST. I have had this happen to my self, take a couple beats at one table, then my play starts to deteriorate on the other 3. Playing multiple tables reduces variance if you are getting your money is an a 7 -
I think you misread the hand history, villian actually did cold call 12BB's from the big blind.I agree with everything you said, that just because I'm playing LAG doesn't mean he isn't waiting for a big hand to come after me with. It just really complicates the matter not knowing what is going on.Honestly the villian had called my raises from the SB and BB so many times I really didn't give him much credit for a hand even though he did call 12BB's cold. Maybe this was a mistake and I gave a Q to heavy of a weight for his range, I don't know? Good point about having the Ad killing alot of fl

I don't think flop bet matters here. I was insta reraised which tells me the villian probably planned on raising before he checked. I think if I bet $2 or $14 I get the same results. Also, 1/2 - 3/4 would be my standard bet size here so anything else would stand out from the 10 other times I played pots against him and coninuation bet with or without a hand.I chose the smaller end of that range for a reason that I really didn't like my hand if I got raised and the only reason I bet is because of the combo straight and flush draw. Had one of the two not been present I would have checked this

This hand took place on a mixed game table. The convertor says 8 handed but its really only 5; UTG, UTG+1, and MP1 had not played a hold'em round yet and elected not to post out of position to be dealt in. I havn't played limit hold'em in like 6 months, on a regular basis in over a year, so I'm pretty rusty. The only exposure I've had to limit hands in the last few months was reading them in blogs, in which case it was high stakes and short handed. I'm not sure if I was too aggressive with this hand preflop and on the flop since the only hands I've seen lately are from some of the most agg

Given our table image I probably push in here. The fact that he allready called us out once thinking we were bluffing increases the chances he's raising us light here.

If your going to make this play with some sort of draw I like to raise the flop instead of flat call. When raising the flop we are expected to get checked to on the turn where we can take a free card off and see the river for the cost of the flop raise. Raising is also great the times we make our hand and get "caught" after making a play on the flop. This should help to open up yur range and get you more action in future hands. That being said if you do show down a hand after raising the flop with nothing your going to have to gauge how the table reacts to it. Your bets and raises will ge

At lower limits don't waste your time trying to float and take pots away on later streets. If you think the villian is making a continuation bet with a weak hand just go ahead and raise the flop and hope to take it down. Waiting til other streets gives the villian's weak hand a chance to make a pair or pick up a draw in which case he won't be folding when you do try to take the pot away.

Bick Slick W/nut Flush Draw
Ricer98 replied to Money022's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
I would bet the turn here just about 100% of the time, it makes the river easier to play. If we miss the river we still have the betting lead so we are almost never going to get bluffed on the river after making two strong leads. Taking this line we put the same amount of money in as checking the turn and bluffing the river, but we have the chance of getting another bet paid off if we hit. -
Aqs Turn Fd+gutshot Straight Draw
Ricer98 replied to SCS's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
Fire again, a lot of players are calling the flop light then pitching on the turn to continued aggression. Even if we get called we have outs. -
Check the river and hope he bluffs off his remaining $6 at which point were getting 4-1. If he called off over 1/2 his stack with a 7 or Q in his hand pay him off.

Big Draw With Lots Of Action Ahead
Ricer98 replied to AimHigher's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
As played on the turn you have to fold, your likely up against atleast two pair or a set from one of the players. If thats the case you have about 23% equity when the pot is about $21 and you have to call off $10. Even if the SB calls all in as well your still slightly -EV getting 2.7-1 as a 3-1 dog.Calling isn't terrible but I probably raise the flop the first time the action is to you. MP is easily continuation betting or betting a one pair hand which we are the favorite against. Wtih just calling MP's bet I'm really tempted to shove over the top of SB's min raise and MP's call. 2nd Nuts Against River Aggressor
Ricer98 replied to Ricer98's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
On the flop $1.00-1.50 is going to be my standard bet size here, I chose the smaller end because I wanted to keep this pot small. I was really only betting to keep the lead so I didn't have to deal with getting lead into on the turn when I would have no clue what he holds as his range is about ATC. I'm probably way ahead of his range but if a J didn't hit I didn't want to play a big pot with a marginal hand since I know this guy will pay off later. As for checking the turn, I'm starting to question that now. My thinking at the time was if I bet the turn, probably 75% of the time I'm going -
Any caller has us beat every single time, were not getting called by pocket 4's or 65 for a chop, which would be the best we could hope for.
