War sucks no doubt about it and no one knows more than the soldier putting his/her life on the line and see first hand the scenario you've described. However sometimes war is a necessity. Number 1, Red Nichols and his Five Pennies, this is a classic movie made in 1959 with Danny Kaye building and playing in a dixieland band. One of the best musicals ever, "Sachmo" Louie Armstrong is showcased in this film at his best and there's a great scene with Sach and Danny Kaye scat singing.
