What time does the 1-2 NL game usually start / finish? Is there a bunch of guys from Brantford in the game? -

Anyways, I was thinking the announcement may not last that long, and if not selected for the poker game, anyone up for some Golden Tee??Or going out to a bar / club?? Then again it is a Tuesday night, and there's not much that busy on a Tuesday. -

Nah, I was just checking Hoops Box Scores, and received the email about 15 minutes ago. I think there's still hope for ya. -

I registered, representing the downtown T.O. crew... I think I'll get picked. Got picked for Degree championshiop, year end bonus was nice, life is on an upswing. If i don't I'll try and crash it anyways!

Wow, almost everyone that survived has Dallas last week (Nov 18-20). I was in Cuba that weekend and came back to see myself knocked out... stupid Detroit losing at home to St Louis. Kinda glad I was on vacation as I woulda been pissed watchign the updates on that game. Anyways, good luck to the 8 of you still going, I'll still be watching to see who wins.

Couldn't.Agree.More.Plus a multiplier factor based on how close to Toronto you are. I'll be heading down on the 6th (if i win) from Brampton. Door to door in a half-hour.I should be a lock than. 2 blocks. 5min walk.Doh! I'm about 6 blocks, but I do workout at Skydome after work!!Oh wait depends on which Hard Rock, Skydome or Yonge & Dundas...
-
Sweet, cool contest to find out about after getting back from vacation. If it's proximity, I might win, living 15 minute walk from Hard Rock, and working out at Skydome after work!

Yup DNP's for everyone not posting in this thread... and I've got the game you can't take. Nice to see Calgary beat them tonight too... they'll be fired up for the homestand.

I got mine picked... glad I haven't used a certain team yet... Next week I am much more unsure about, but I'm not even thinking about that right now. Baby steps, baby steps.

unofficial: what do you "dislike" most about fcp?
gloyner replied to teneight's topic in General Poker Forum
Agree whole-heartedly with both points... although I'm generally a happy person, just feel like Office Space describes my work life. -
Awesome idea, I was hoping something like this was in the works... of course I still plan on winning the first survivor hockey pool! I'd prefer the second pool to wait until the first one is over, as I'd have to hedge my picks against each other!

great example of why to take the free card.....

Not many hands he check raises from SB make sense... any flush draw hit, and CR set hit, so obviously not those hands. It looks like a flopped 2 pair... probably 67, maybe a really poorly played TT. -
1/2 LCP on ParadiseHero is MP dealt A:club: A:heart: 9:spade:2 calls, 1 fold, 2 calls, hero raises. 2 folds, 4 calls, 1 fold.(11.5 SB)Flop is 3:spade: 5:spade: 7:spade:checked to hero, hero bets, 3calls, 1 fold.hero discards 9:spade:(8BB)Turn 4:diamond: 1 check, villain bets, hero folds... comments: dangerous flop, but checking is far too tight. Also, no trying to hit flush with the naked 9 right?

Hero posts Big Blind with 9:spade: 7:spade: 4:club:4 calls, 2 folds, 2 calls, SB completes, hero checks.(8SB) Flop is 9:club: 4:spade: 3:spade:SB bets, hero calls, 2 folds, 2 calls, 1 fold, 1 call.Hero discards 7:spade:Turn is J:diamond:(6.5BB) SB checks, hero bets, 1 call, 1 fold, 2 calls.River is 5:spade:(10.5BB)SB checks, hero checks, villain bets, 2 folds, hero... reluctantly calls.Comments - discarded the flush draw, as thought it wasn't high enough... is that correct to keep a weak top 2 pair?Should I have raised the flop?
-
Actually you had a runner-runner straight-royal flush wrap draw, don't sell yourself short! Yup, play it the same way. It's one of those hands in LCP that are just so 50/50... (with Qd) and I hate those type of hands. Need to learn to play them better, I'll try and post a few more myself. (grumble grumble manual conversion)

I definitely agree the action afterwards has us in bad shape. I also agree that the flop bet has some equity, but I still think there are better spots to apply that equity than leading into a field of 6 without a draw to the nuts. If you were a couple of positions later to act, then I'd probably bet, but in EP I feel we're not strong enough to lead out.
-
I play marginal drawing hands admittedly quite weak in LCP. There are usually better spots to get your money in, but my line on the flop would be to check, then conditional:if bet + callers, I would call but proceed with caution, probably folding if turn doesn't fill the straightif facing 2+ bets back - foldif bet and heads up back to you - raise and re-evaluate turn

Wow, NYR over Pittsburgh, crazy choice... Pittsburgh is hot right now, and THibault is back. I took Ottawa over Buffalo, stayed away from the obvious Carolina pick. Hopefully Ottawa will stay on their roll, and hopefully Hasek will be in net!

It's a decent idea, but is it really warranted? If you spend enough time in strategy, you quickly determine who the learned posters are. Maybe a sticky in general strategy mentioning who has specialties in which games may suffice? Then again, it is a nice honour on posters who have spent many hours helping improve the FCP community's poker games... including mine.I'd be in favour of either type of distinction. My 0.02

Good on ya DNA! Hockey is a great game to watch live, one of the few that is better than it is on TV. If your son likes the game, and you really want to see him enjoy himself, get him some skates and get him on the ice!
