Dinner's alright, but no movie on the first date. Drinks is optimal, especially at a nice chill lounge, so you can sit and talk and get her trashed. I always invite girls back to watch the Will Ferrell Best of SNL DVD (1st volume- 2nd not so good). It's never failed... and if the girl won't watch it, or worse yet doesn't like it you ditch her, because she either A has no sense of humour, or B is unafraid to try new things.Regardless have a good time.

I'm a little late to the thread but I'll toss in my two cents... to put it bluntly, I love American people, can't stand the US administration and politics. Most of the world realizes this as well but unfortunately there's the odd foreigner that associates all US travellers with their latest image of Bush, which is not too good. I've recently returned from Australia, (played some poker in the Melbourne casino with AFL players) and only one local Aussie told me I was lucky to be Canadian and not American... so that's a good sign ( I think). All the Americans I met on my travels were really cool people, although it seemed they had to try extra hard to fight the 'ignorant-American' stereotype. And really the fault is not their own - just the fact that the USA has a very "USA-centric" culture and education system... Anyways, that's my bit on that... shoutouts to Allie and Hidden, go Flames Go!! (And booo to the Argos). ANd yes I live in Toronto, and lately I've been profiting on the Leafs missing the playoffs!My family and I travel a lot around the world and when we do so we tell people we are Canadian sometimes because like it or not Americans are hated pretty widely around the world. Some people hate us to the point that they will do us harm simply for being American. I know there are many people that do this. I am not happy with American politics right now either. One great part about this country is the fact that you can say "Bush ****ing sucks and this country is pretty much being run by a complete moron" without getting shot. Daniel or any other Canadian is free to voice their opinion about the USA as well, regardless of whether they live here or not. with a 36% approval rating for bush, this mean 64% of Americans are unhappy about the way things are in this country right now too. UsCitizen it's time to let your patriotism cool down a little and realize that one of the things that makes this country great is freedom of speech. You may not like what people may have to say, but you can't ever stop them from saying it.

Heh, yeah I was gonna say learn to play Pai Gow, 200$ at a 10$ min table will last a hell of a lot longer than it will at a blackjack table.thanks for the comments, guys.yeah, i need to start playing Pai Gow again. Any game where the ultimate goal is to break even and get comped steak and eggs. Good times... -
Yeah I got lazy this week and haven't gone down yet... but 1.5 hour wait at 5 pm? Damn that's ridiculous, i'll have to start showing up at 3-4 o'clock or so, try to beat the rush.The casino opens way before the actual exhibition. I think the Ex opens the 18th or so (maybe earlier?), but the casino has been open since the last week of July. -

Yeah I'm excited for the CNE poker too, although it won't get really juicy until the rest of the Ex opens up. I played a bunch last year and turned a small profit, and am hoping to do better this year as I have no job this year, and will hopefully stay off the 3 card poker tables that line the poker room.Play is usually pretty bad, although so are the chairs, lineups, dealers, rake, etc. They only spread 5-10 and 10-20, and if you go during peak after dinner hours, the wait was sometimes as long as 2-3 hours. Make sure you sign up with the poker 'comp' team, as you'll get a free entry pass for the duration of the ex, and free parking as well. I think you have to play for like 5 hours to get it. I'm definitely open to meeting up with fellow FCPers, although I'm not really in to playing you guys! Much better opposition will be there... will probably go once or twice this week, then a bunch later in August. (I live close by as well - 10 minute walk or so).ChrisSo, who's going to be around for some of this? I'd love to hook up with some FCP folks and see what's cooking. In any case, I live pretty close the the grounds, so I'm going to make full effort to get over on a regular basis.Has anyone done the casino/poker there before? If so, got any insider info? -
You can get around the rake by hitting a Royal... dealer was kind enough to drop the rake on a hand i won with a royal last year, and believe me, it will be juicy enough to make up for the high rake. Although bring a cushion the chairs are TERRIBLE. Not sure about playing there until the rest of the CNE opens up however.I know...my buddy is a pit boss there.I don't know if I can play there though...the rake is ridiculous. I'm going to have my buddy stake out the games to tell me when it's good enough to make up for the rape...er, I mean rake. -
