  1. ...and your play always gets you in the money and better then 6th right? And what makes you think 6th only pays you your money back? Assume much.My strategy is to avoid the coin flips. I think I am a better player then 70% of the players at the table and can outplay them (make the right pushes and laydowns) and beat them most of the time. However I put myself on even footing with the 70% (I am better then) if I get into coin flips with them. Their chances of knocking me out in regular play <10%...there chances of knocking me out on a coin flip = 50%. No thanks.YES coin flips make much wors
  2. Why do people bother to comment when they do not even read the thread. From my first post...
  3. I don't get responses like this. You play any hand and hope to hit certain flops but that does nto mean that you cannot throw the hands away after, if you read that you are no longer the favorite to win the hand. Most times you hit the Nut straight you will not put someone on trips and the nut flush draw in that same hand. You can even slow play the straight in some of those circumstances. Other times you know you have big draws chasing you and you try to end the hand ASAP. You KNOW your straight is not safe.Let me ask you. If no one goes ALL-In on the flop and I just do a big raise with tho
  4. If I trusted my read, and I did, then I knew I was only about 35% to win. I just knew that these two tight players wopuld not be pushing ALL-In so close to final table when neither of them were short stacked when neither of them was the initial raiser of this hand.I knew they had both caught something and that something had nut potential.I put myself on a best case scenerio of them both chasing the same Flush draw (K and A high) in which case i would definately call but more likely one on trips and one on the A high flush.I keep seeing people quoting the math and I am a math man but I am also
  5. Playing in a live $250 freeze out tourney with 50 people and 20 now left.payout is to top 6.long story short is UTG raises to double the blinds and there are 2 decent players who call (TAG) and me with 8/6h. I am the second biggest stack of those who call.Flop : 7s5s4cUTG bets the pot. (I put him on over cards and continuation bet) Player 2 raises ALL-In (he has board covered)Player 3 thinks and thinks and CallsI fold and show nuts as UTG announces his fold UTg foldsnow I fold thinking that one of them has the Nut flush draw and the other may, MAY have trips.Everyone thinks I am crazy for fo
  6. I plan to attend for social and drinks as that is just a 15 minute subway ride for me. I might stay for poker too. However I play in a cash game on Fridays near Dave and Busters near 400/7 so was hoping things stayed there so I could pop over for my regular game after a few pops.It is a very professional under ground club where they run 3 times per week (Mon, Wed, Friday) and have both $5/$5 and $5/$10 games going after 9pm. I need to build up my cred at this establishment before I start inviting people but if some GTA'ers are looking for good clean games then this is a great place.
  7. Exactly. Make them have real benefit. If you parlay them into bigger stacks the you can use them for more Satellite tourney entries. Is Ultimate Bet a good site to play at? Right now I only play on Poker Stars and find it easy on my computer. I tried FC in its early days but the site kept dropping my connection and I would miss so many hands. It is rare to never for my connection to be dropped on PS.I would like to try some other sites though.
  8. DO any sites allow you to play your FPP points versus other players?I think the answer is no and I wonder why not. I think it could give a huge competitive advantage to the site that introduced such play and I would definitively post some money at that site to play.
  9. I don't know anyone who "thinks the right was to play big hands is slow play them EVERYTIME". It really depends on your table image.since my image is tight-aggressive I know if I bet most people respect it and lay down unless they really have something. If my image was a LAG then I would play it fast.
  10. thx. I had a great read on him and saw him as LAG bad player. He was the type of player who just put most people to decisions for all their chips and because of that hardly ever got called. Good players stalked him waiting for a strong hand and knowing what he would do. Often times his only saviour was to out draw them as the good players almost always had the better hand against him.Even knowing this I had no intention to go up against until I had hit the final table and was in the money. Hitting top pair against him and having him push ALL-In was not something I wanted so close to the f
  11. Thats kind of how I feel. I know that when people look back with hindsght they think they would have always made the right fold and always made the right push and they base "right" on outcome... not the situation. If he missed his gut shot and I went to the final table as the over whelming chip leader then my trap was obvious and brilliantly pulled off. He hits his gut shot so my trap was wrong. I don't look at it that way. When being asked to look at a hand and how it was played I try to ignore 'outcome' as that usually has little to do with how the hand should be played. An example of tha
  12. Well I wouldn't consider AA super dominant over flops like you suggested.Super dominant to me is if you put the guy on overcards and the flop comes 5-6-7 rainbow with you holding 8,9 and the nuts. Then the turn is an A (board still rainbow) and the river pairs the board giving him the boat and the win since he was slow playing AA perflop.Would you have been wrong to have trapped all through this situation. You flop the Nuts. You have the Nuts on the turn and the River costs you huge.Is this not the type of hand you want to trap with and if you lose you lose??
  13. The situation that spawned this situation happened in a 50 person tourney where only the top 6 get paid and I was third chip leader with only 12 people remaining.I was playing tight with an eye on the final table and had the second chip leader (LAG) sitting at my table. I am in the BB with A5 of hearts with about 45,000 and the blinds at 2000/4000.LAG calls the BB in position 4 and we end up heads up as everyone else folded and I check.Flop : 2h3h4cI check knowing LAG will bet.LAG bets 16,000I check my cards and CallTurn : JsI check expecting another big bet from LAGLAG pushes ALL-INI Call an
  14. This question results from a couple recent situations I have found myself in where I have been busted while trapping with truly monster hands that were super dominant versus my opponents. The question is...is there a certain percentage where your hand is so dominant that it is automatic to Trap and below that you should be betting out so that your opponent might fold?Do you only trap when you have the stone cold nuts and your opponent is drawing dead? Or should you protect against the perfect perfect suck out by trying to drive them out of the hand.I am referring to heads up play only as I kno
  15. Yes, I have heard this said often and quite frankly it makes no sense at all. Yes because of the higher dealt hand rate you will see the bad beats happening what seems more frequently but you should also be paid off more frequently as these donks don't hit.
  16. Heh...I am sure some are genuinely just regular players who have no interest in dialogue but I am also sure that on True Poker they use computer sym's in their free games. I am not sure about their money games but it is not a stretch to assume so.
  17. sorry stopped reading there...lol Why are you sorry?
  18. heh..that is funny. Well done! However anyone who plays on the True Poker free site will have no doubt the game is juiced to make you a huge winner so you log onto the cash site and pay to play. No doubt. Catching 4 out of every 5 flushes or straights or boats is not natural and if you ask other players they are just as hot and do not lose.If a site juices the play and adds in ringers to ensure you win on their free side...if they have paid for that functionality to skew the game so you can win... you would have to be a fool to believe they would not use it on their pay side so they could wi
  19. I have no doubt that certain on line sites are rigged but I do not have enough experience to comment on many of them as I just started playing on line (play 99% live). For instance I first played online with True Poker when I signed onto a free Tourney by a radio station that Daniel was associated with.I then played on their free site for a few weeks and had quickly won $1000 up to $15,000. You really cannot lose and playing smart poker is bad. Almost every straight or flush catches. Most pairs go to trips or boats. You get tons of action and there is always about 3 silent players per table
  20. I generally want 1-3 callers with AA but have no problem taking down a raised pot preflop by going ALL-IN if I think there is enough money in it.If I am in early position with AA I usually check hoping that someone else raises and then re-raising. Occassionally I do not get that raise and we get a family pot and I just generally throw the AA away depending on the flop.I had the perfect AA situation playing in a NL tourney yesterday.I had AA and was UTG and simply called. The blinds were $50/$100 and everyone else folded around to player number 6 who had been playing very aggressive preflop.
  21. In all my poker play (most live) I have only got quads twice. The first time was with AA and a flop of AAQ in which I could not get paid. The next was with 77 and two guys going ALL-In with me just calling and taking down a sizeable pot. I luv 77 and they seem to win more then their fair share of hands for me.
  22. Sssshhhhhh!!! LOL, you too smart :wink:Heh...he must be because it echoes what I said first.
  23. I think DN is messing with DC in every possible way. IF DC starts to change his game then DN can mock him for "finally starting to pay attention and learn some things from me." That would be the last thing DC would want to hear or have attributed to his win so he will stubbornly try to stick to his way and win with it. Even if DC sees DN is right he is unable to adapt because of his pride.
  24. DN is setting DC up and will knock him down. DC is starting to take things very personally. He is getting mad...steamed. He will play more then he should and be unwilling to change or adapt his game to prove DN wrong. That is exactly what DN wants. That is old school poker. As you rake your fish keep him coming back.
  25. Was this earlier this week as you might have seen the guy who busted me with 8/3 not suited.I am not getting a great intro into online game this week. I am playing online poker (play tons of ring games at Casino) for the first time and the bad beats and cold cards are completely disprotionate (so far) to what I find in live games.. I am dealt J/Q suited in a $1/$2NL ring game. I am before the button and raise it to $10 preflop and have about $50 more in front of me. I get 2 callers. The Flop is 9/10/rag. It is checked to me and I bet $10. I get one caller who I think is weak. The turn is
