question regarding flipping over cards in nl
VegasDreams replied to corsonooga's topic in General Poker Forum
That would be incorrect, last time in Vegas played at the $500 min buy in N/L cash table at the Nugget. I am dealt KK UTG, raise it to $200 to go, folds around to the guy one off the button who goes all in. Folds to me, I turn to the dealer and tell him "My head is not being folded", I then flip them over to gauge the all in's reaction and ask him if he has them beat. Yes, a page from Doyle's SS book. The dealer said nothing, hand was not declared dead either. After a minute or so, the all in states "not folding as well" and flips over one of his, which is an A. I had a really good idea at thi -
I know your story is completely true, have seen quads beat quads three times in a week on PP, around two months ago. Have not played on the site much since, PP is getting to be a bit much after the last few upgrades.

The bad beat jackpot at a local casino is paid out when:- Aces full of 10s or better are beat by quads or better- Both players use both hole cards (kickers don't count)As I understand it, quads over quads is the most common scenario under which the jackpot is paid out, followed by high straight-flush over low straight-flush. Somebody hits the jackpot about once ever 3 weeks or so on average, and I think the last two (in late January and mid-February) were quads-over-quads scenarios. Ballpark it at something like once every 25000 hands or so - rare, but not unheard of.Actually the bad beat mini

I have played against you on PP at the 15/30 a few times. Wondered if you might be the fish in the tank on some of those occassions. Especially when you capped my flopped A high str8 bets all the way to the riv. Sadly though you sucked out the runner runner boat on me. Was it a tilt day for you, or just a moment of fish food, lol?

internet and live play are apples and oranges

Alright, alright............I was attempting to be ironic as well, to be a satirist if you will with the two previous post. I have been taken much too seriously on them obviously. Yes I know Phillips was being "tongue in cheek", lol. Having a bit of fun, guess I was a tad too convincing in my arguements. Ah well, I enjoyed the laugh it generated anyway. -

It is not all about number of hands versus live. Like I said 8 BM sessions and 1 online session. Forget people staying with crap more often and sucking out online. Take just the boards that come up online, the four flushes, four str8's, quad and boat boards, in comparison to live play. This eliminates the bad play aspect. If you have logged any sort of real time hours or in my case years of BM play you know what I am talking about. That is why I made the Paul Phillips reference, this is a very intelligent man, in reference to numbers, poker, internet. When that flop brought a flush as well as s -

You are correct, I have been playing live for many years, online for over two now. There is a vast difference between the two, and it is not something that can be explained away by the "seeing more hands theory".I think it all has to do with the mentality of it all. You see plays made online, that you never see live, or rarely at least. Completely ridiculous calls and raises that most will not make live. Much, much easier to be an imbecile behind a screen, than to call down huge bets live with a 3 out prayer. Let me preface the following with this, (I am not stating that the sites are rigged). -
I agree QJs is worth a flop for 1 maybe twice the BB pre flop raise. Flop is right you end up breaking some people. As stated though, if you are going to play it post flop hard when a J or Q flop, then you may want to not play it. This hand was meant to be played after flop for str8, flush, or FH reasons. The kicker either way is really not strong enough to play a top pair flop, strong and push with it. Too many come in with KJ, KQ, AQ, AJ, and break ya off then.

This is the truth, believe it or not, matters not to me. 45 hrs, left up $2,500 for the session.

The Golden Nugget downtown across from Binion's is the best. $125 buy in NL, no rebuy sng's all day long. Take about 90 mins to play, pays top three and no paper. Room is also next to pool and smoke free. Binions is smoke out city and they paper ya, which is total bs.

Yep. If you saw the WPT last night, Hoyt Corkins is a good example. He hit a set of sevens, bet right out just like he always does and won a huge pot.Been around poker a long time, must admit though have never heard of "FPS" Anyone care to elaborate? -
KQ...it's not that good of a hand...is it?

Actually the correct play here, would be to fold. One as many have already denoted, too many hands you are the dog, never want to double up the short with marginal cards. Secondly, and even more importantly, with four remaining and three paying, everyone is tighter. It is actually beneficial to you, as the big stack to keep the bubble bug alive. You give up one BB, so what. You have not already made a play at the pot. As the big stack, you then can continue to pick up blinds and ante's. Everyone thinks that it is damaging to your "image" if you don't defend your BB. Not correct, if I am there
