Krup, I'd take Naismith's advice and take a few days off. Sometimes you just need to step back and put poker in perspective. The last couple months, I've felt like a degenerate, putting in hundreds of hands instead of hanging out with my friends, or chasing fish instead of chilling with my gf, because how could I pass up on a $100+ easy bucks? Recently, I've realized that it's a completely unhealthy mentality. I haven't played for a week and a half or so, maybe two weeks, and I feel great. Once the summer comes along, I'll start up again, but I won't play to the point where I'm starting to ne

Playing Down By The River (ub $200)
shinzilla replied to shinzilla's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
lol I took the bait with KK in that hand? I don't think you understand the thought process that went on in the first hand. -
Acid, my laptop died yesterday (permanently, I think... does anyone have any poker laptop recommendations?) while I was working on a cover letter, so I never got to see that graph of yours. Downswings suck. I just withdrew $500 to make myself drop down for a little bit and regain my confidence. I don't think you need to do that because I think you have better discipline than me, but it might be best to take a day off or something. BTW I played a fish that played like the one you were down 1K too and dropped 3 BI to him. Lame.

Playing Down By The River (ub $200)

You're right. It was a mistake. I've been on a downswing recently and often during these downswings, my preflop requirements slip up a little. -
200nl - Turn The Nuts, Bad River Card
shinzilla replied to Craigdog's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
This is an easy bet/fold, as you are so far ahead of his range. Even with that low aggression factor, is he not going to raise a set on the flop or turn?Edit: I just looked at the results. Guess he wouldn't raise a set, lol -
Villain is LrdofDarkness, a multitabling regular at UB $200. He's a very competent player that runs at 17/13/4. He's a big winner from what I can tell. One notable hand of history:Ultimate BetNo Limit Holdem Ring gameBlinds: $1./$2.4 playersConverterPre-flop: (4 players) Hero is SB with :D 2 folds, Hero raises to $8, BB raises to $24, Hero calls.Flop: ($48, 2 players)Hero checks, BB bets $29, Hero raises all-in $177, BB calls.Turn: ($402, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $402)River: ($402, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $402)Results:Final pot: $402He had AA and took it down. Here's the hand

haha it's actually been from 1/2 6-max. Since my br had reached the point where I could play it, I've been playing that instead of HU for the last five days or so. I-5.5 BI, but I feel like I'm playing pretty well.

Downswings suck. I know Acid's lost more than me, but losing 1/6 of your BR in two days feels horrible.

wtf losing 4.25 BI HU to a fish blows. I haven't gotten used to $400 swings yet. I feel like someone stole my lunch money... for the next month.

Is anyone else here a CR member? I joined today, since I've been on a major upswing. +$1600 for the last week! I might start playing 1/2 NL 6-max, but I'm going to stick to .5/1 NL HU for a while. After crushing it initially, I got ground up/pretty unlucky against some good LAG regulars. I don't feel quite comfortable with my HU game. My 6-max game is probably rusty too, since I've put in about 12000 hands of full ring and nothing else these last three or four days.I listen to whatever at the tables. I like all kinds of music, but prefer the more relaxing songs during sessions. Listening to ra

Losing $400 in one session makes me want to puke. Especially when $300+ was to a complete fish HU.

Oops. Meant to post this in the Bored at Work thread. I recently deleted my shortcut to the main forum page and a bunch of other poker sites just cause I think I'm addicted to reading them. But I had this thread as a shortcut cause I think it's one of the more instructive threads that's been in this forum.

Does anybody know if PT includes rake in its "amount won" column? Let's say my "amount won" for the week is $1000 and my "total rake" is $400. Does that mean my profit is $600 ($1000-$400) or $1000 ($1400-$400)?

I wish I could get Poker Grapher to work so I could brag about my last two weeks. Playing HU has treated me so well. I can't figure out how to record them as 1-on-1 in PT, so my HU and 6-max stats are all mixed up. Oh well. I guess I won't worry about it until PT3 comes out. But increasing the bankroll by a little more than 75% in two weeks? Niiiiiiice.

Biloxury Episode 1 (fr) (2/5)
shinzilla replied to CobaltBlue's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
A FD is definitely a possibility; I can't see JJ being played like this. I just think that if we shove here, we're going to be behind when we're called most of the time. -

Shoving here is terrible, considering the button's TAG style. I don't see him calling a 3-bet with hands worse than ours. -
Can one of you go back in time (say April 2007) and tell me to play HU on top of 6-max? I just started playing HU last week and wow... it's a money maker!

This up here is good advice. I can't believe this is one of those "I'm going to post just to prove a point that's actually wrong but I'm too stubborn to admit it and argue with everyone that's right" posts. People say "Oh, it's great for the metagame" as an excuse for bad plays. Which this is pretty much exemplifies.

Yeah, c-c turn is terrible; just shove.
