  1. No, not that I know of. That last one was a local Indiana legend as far as I know, but you can never be sure where in the exothermic hell it came from :-)
  2. Hope you got it right, that was a very famous answer done by a student at Harvard (or some ivy league school) several years ago. It was very clever. The one about his girlfriend etc.. etc..? If that's the one, Our teacher gave us his response right after we took the question, He said if our answers were less creative we wouldn't get an A.... I was in awe at that guy's balls to put that.Balls? That was pretty ballsey, yes, but I got a better one. A student at Purdue several years ago, came in to take a test in a Philosophy class. The test consisted of one question: What is courage? Most
  3. Here's that answer Jayweb. Enjoy. "First, we postulate that if souls exist, then they must have some mass. If they do, then a mole of souls can also have a mass. So, at what rate are souls moving into hell and at what rate are souls leaving? I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for souls entering hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to hell. Since there are more than one of these reli

  5. I had 4 wins last year all with the fields anywhere from 400-900. Final tables, I had around 14-16. I can't remember which. I stopped playing those ridiculous size fields though, they take forever and are quite the headache. You have to play great AND have the cards slap you in the face to do well.
  6. Yeah, that one. :-) We hadn't jumped in the time machine yet, so we're still in 2005. So far, all I can afford on the time machine is a one way trip, sitting coach. 9/11 really hiked up the prices, you know.
  7. Yeah probably best in the worldHmmm, someone get Doc Brown and we'll hop in the time machine to 1989 to where the above is true again.I'll bet you $50 that he gets 2 bracelets this year.think you guys have all missed the doc brown reference. if im reading this correctly, hes betting that phil will win two bracelets in 1989. in which case, hes won the bet. PAY UP!!!!!if if read you right, well done austin, caught them looking at the curveballUmmm, nope. I said we could hop in the time machine to where PHil is the best NLHE player in the world again. And he said I'll bet you 50 that he gets 2
  8. Yeah probably best in the worldHmmm, someone get Doc Brown and we'll hop in the time machine to 1989 to where the above is true again.I'll bet you $50 that he gets 2 bracelets this year.Yeah, I'd take that. 2 is gonna be a stretch for him. Hell, 1 is gonna be damn hard for Phil. Like DN has said, Phil just hasn't adjusted as well to the internet noobs. I still believe he's a top 50 tourney player, but not very close anymore to best in the world (if you consider top 50 not very close).
  9. WEll, I only played at GPP long enough to clear the bonus and the fish got the best of me in that short time. That was about the only site I played on PSO where I lost money (straight up lost, with the bonus, I was up 40). I guess that's probably why I didn't like it. I also struggled with Bodog, which is another really fishy site. So, I guess I just suck against fish is all. I seem to be doing better against players who are tighter and more selective in their hands. Don't know why. Probably just because of a small sample size.
  10. TGC (The Gaming Club) also has a nice mini-view option. Those are the only 2 I've discovered so far.

  12. There may be more to it, but Phil goes with tourneys (because that's all he's good at) and Huck sticks to the cash games for the most part. Hard to be friends when you're in different parts of the country or the world, for that matter.
  13. Really? I've done almost every PSO promo (I saved Party for the FFP, but that's no more) and I liked Pokerroom's 2/4 tables the most. It's easy to find a table at any time of the day (it's not so easy at 2/4 at most other sites) and I've been cleaning up at those tables for 2 months now. The flop percentages are usually around low to mid thirties, but for some reason, I've been crushing those games. It does help that I have notes on just about all the "regulars" at those tables. Absolute was one of the worst sites I did, but I hated GPP and Bodog a bit more than Absolute.
  14. Absolutely. I played today and I just shrug off the bad shots and move on. Several years ago, when I played on my high school team, my blowups were notorious. For example, I'd go par, birdie, bogey, bogey, and by then I'm pissed off and one time I put up a 12 on a par 4! I tried the same cut shot against the wind from a bad lie. Talk about a round killer! Now I just take my poker skills of calmness out there and although I'm still not great, the 12s haven't come back.
  15. Nice to read the perspective from a dealer, but good lord that's badly written. I had a hard time getting through it. I guess I'll just stick to DN's blog. It was kinda surprising to see how much the guys in the bigger games b itch and moan over the smallest little things. I thought it was only the idiot small-time amateurs who thought that "this table is unlucky."
  16. Not really sure why you're second guessing yourself here. You had the best hand in the first example and the money got all in. You can't ask for anything more than that. On the second example, you got your money in with kings and were up against it with a guy holding AA. NO, not really anything you can do. ONly Bill Fillmaff has the savvy, the wit to know when to fold that :-) Just unfortunate situations, you gotta learn to deal with them, or poker is not for you. IN the example where you had AA vs. KK, just simply call the guy a lucky idiot and move on like everyone else.
  17. OK, saw this one a while back. Not poker related, but definitely pokeHER related. MpYeBnIiGsIt may take a sec. to get it.
  18. I think the nature of the post is the fact that most pros don't respect internet players and know they overplay the hell out of many weaker holdings. Sooo, with that in mind, overpushing with premium holdings can be a good play if that's the stereotypical image. The only problem with pushing all in here and trying to catch an "image call" is that most people traveled all the way out to the WSOP and paid 10K (or won a satellite to get there), so they are probably not too thrilled at the prospect of busting on the first hand. This is true at most tables. People usually play tight when they f
  19. Looks good. C/Raising the flop was the correct play for the situation and for your reasoning. The King on the turn was a bit of a scare card, but you had the lead and it's hard to hit overcards, so leading was fine. I might not have bet the river, but in shorthanded play, you'll often get called down by ace high, so it's not too bad. BTW, I think the button plays this hand the same way with QK, so I don't know if you're beat or not by his river call. He could've been fearing trip 8s and just soft played his top pair..... I assume we'll get results
  20. Value raise? Good god. Yeah, that's a great strategy. Here's what you do from now on. When you're in a hand with a mid pair and a draw heavy board with a 1 card straight poss. and a flush poss. out there, raise it. That way he will call you with a WORST hand than your pair of fives as there are tons of hands that don't have you beat here. Let me see, a pair of 4s....3s....2s....and well, ace high. 4 hands you can beat! That should be enough for a raise, right? (major sw)Look, a raise on the river will only get calls from better hands and the worst hands will ALWAYS fold he
  21. I hate it when people post read-based hands on here. It always ends up with some guy saying that you should "play the percentages" followed by the OP saying, "but I read him for nothing." And then 3 pages of bickering follow. Here's my opinion:Preflop: I wouldn't complete with K5os, but not a big deal.Flop: Terrible call here and your logic was even worse. 'If only I could hit my 1 outer' is NEVER good thinking in poker. Turn: This is where your reads and past experience with this player kicked in and it paid off.River: Gutsy call, based on your read. The problem with the original post i
  22. See Bill Fillmaff for any help at www.billfillmaff.com :-)
  23. Wow, the rare triple post Chris. :-) Anyway, does the OP remind anyone else of Barry Greenstein? You know, in the sense that he seems to record only his winnings and never his losses? It's cool, I win every time I play too. (sw)
  24. yes, you are probably right. this has been helpful, thank you.No problem. For those of you into psychology, it's probably a good idea to have something to go back to when a bad beat occurs. For example, if a runner-runner boat beats your flush, think of a babbling brook or something lame like that. For me, I type in one word: GOOSFRABA. Most people at the table have no idea what the heck it means, but it helps me get centered AND it brings a smile to my face. It's from Anger Management (Sandler) and is a pretty funny relaxation technique they used in the movie. Anybody else have someth
