Sony Vaio, XP os.I use a dell D630, and I haven't had any problems, but once the life on my dell is done, I'm getting a vaio. I dislike macs, for a variety of reasons, one of which is that people view them as the second coming of Christ, and another that they just don't function the way I want them to, and a third is that there is no right click. So I suggest a sony vaio. I don't know about pricing though.
