  1. Actually I got coolered by 66, but the point is the same. I was pretty sure everything was correct post-flop but there are always other thoughts to be heard. That said, the point about not playing this hand because there is a "short-stack" on my left is not a good one. The supposed short guy had an M of 7, not 2. I'm not going to wait for a top 10 hand due to my supposed fear that he'll shove over me. If he happens to show up with a quality hand right now, good for him. It's an easy fold for me at that point and I'm not out much at all.Passivity is not a desired attribute at this stage o
  2. Thank you. Let's please remember that we're five-handed here. Another thing to note (which I didn't initially) was that I had pitched for the previous two orbits. If we're sitting around waiting for an ace or a pair to open short-handed, we're just being blinded off. Is Q6 ideal? Of course not. But I'm obv folding to a sizable re-raise. The small raise was designed for that purpose. Opening bigger is worse, IMO.Yes, I could have pitched it pre-flop, but I really don't think the raise is that unreasonable.Anyway, thanks for the responses.
  3. 11 remaining at this point. Played quite a few hands with villain - solid player, was playing probably half the hands at this stage. Hadn't shown down any bluffs that I can recall. Is there any way for me to toss this hand at any stage?PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, 4.4 Tournament, 400/800 Blinds 75 Ante (5 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.comMP (t11121)Button (t45534)SB (t19794)BB (t38375)Hero (UTG) (t23278)Hero's M: 14.78Preflop: Hero is UTG with 6 , Q Hero bets t1800, 3 folds, BB calls t1000Flop: (t4375) Q , 6 , 10 (2 players)BB checks, Hero bets t2700, BB calls t270
  4. Your points are mostly valid. Here's a little more insight as to what I was thinking. I check/raised him for two reasons. One, because I flopped TP obv and two, because I thought he'd c-bet just about anything and if he was weak (AQ or worse, 22-77) I could take it down right there. In hindsight, the thing I would change now is to raise bigger on the flop. Maybe 2100. He snap called my flop raise which surprised me and threw me off a little. I'm either shipping on the turn then or checking. I elected to check because, basically, I couldn't put him on a hand at that point and didn't wan
  5. I guess I just feel like with a hand like this I can typically outplay my opponent post-flop at this level. I say typically because this hand shows that my feelings on that are probably a little misguided. I was pwned here.I'm so thrown off by an early min-raise. At the $10 and lower level, this has an equal probablilty of being a huge hand and being super weak. With a brand new player, you're right that I should not have taken my chances and just pitched it instead.
  6. Villain had just sat down two hands earlier and didn't play either of them. 7. No other way to play this hand, IMO. Lay down kings pre-flop one time out of 500. If that.
  8. Looking through the hand history, the last 10 times villain played a pot, he shoved. Otherwise he checked or folded. I'm still not sure that matters since he was short-stacked that entire time and now he's pretty deep. He's definitely not in push-fold mode now. Therefore his 3x raise could mean anything. I think we should discount his previous play rather than labeling him a maniac. When you're short in these steps and chips are relatively even, you are going to push often. It's the only play you have.I think my fold equity is solid, but my hand plays almost like a bluff. A9 isn't stan
  9. He shoved pre-flop with KQo on the previous hand. I'm not sure it matters though. I think fold is definitely the right play here. There is a chance he is just being a bully since he's on a big stack now, but given that he's in control and only needs to finish top two, I don't think he'd screw around without a hand that's ahead of me or a flip at best. I posted the hand because I didn't fold and thought at the time my push was right but the more I thought about it, the more incorrect it seemed.
  10. Background: Villain had just doubled-up the previous hand. Prior to this hand, he had open shoved any time he entered a hand, which was relatively frequently since we got to 3-handed. Obviously my decision is push or fold. Typically A9 would probably be enough to shove in this position, but his bet size after doubling the prior hand threw me off. Lots of times, it seems a smaller bet size would indicate strength in this spot but with the double-up, I'm not sure.Keep in mind that this is a step, so top two move on. Thanks for your comments.PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $75+$7 Tournament, 1
  11. Thanks for the input. I was leaning Circuit but apparently the Deep Stack is the better option. Deep Stack it is.
  12. I'll be in Vegas in April while both of these tournaments are running and only have time for one. They seem very similar in structure and have identical buy-ins ($340) on the day I can play. For those that have played in both, is there a reason to pick one over the other? Which would you choose?
  13. Forgive me if this has been discussed - I ran a quick search and found nothing. Does anyone use the results-logging site pokertracking.com? I logged a session Sunday night and everything was fine. Tried again today - the site is completely gone. My results database has totally vanished.Anyone have any info on this?
  14. And to think that I assumed we had heard the last of Dreamclown.
