  1. Yes, you have to lay down KK here, but you never lay down 8 high.
  2. This sanctity of poker stuff is getting out of hand. Umm, it's a game, not a religion. Okay fine, Daniel, you didn't know the rules when you got there, but you did before you played. What's so grand about you deciding not to collude? You knew the rules beforehand and by not colluding...ie..playing AS A TEAM, you lost. There were no rules against it. Again, it's like playing in a euchre tournament and losing because you took tricks from your partner every time. It's just another way of playing the game. I think the pros all attacking Helmuth at the High Stakes poker game would be considerred a w
  3. Yeah, I think it was a suggestion for early on in a big tournament. Most people play pretty tight and do not want to risk all their chips. He figured that even with a call you're a coinflip..unless you run into the big two. Still don't like the play.
  4. record your next 500 hands with AK, then see how you're doing.Sklansky thinks it's not a bad play to just always move all in preflop. I don't see how it's +ev. He might have suggested that for new players though. Can't remember, I've read too many books. The second hand, I might have reraised there to see where you were. Tens might have reraised all in(who knows) and you could get away from the hand. I dunno. I don't think you played horribly...just three instances where AK didn't make it.
  5. Poker morality at it's best. My goal is to win everyone's money, regardless of whether it hurts their families or lives. Heck, I'll even take my own mothers money. But what I won't do is work with a friend to win the money, because that is absulutely wrong!!!I actually agree with you, but it's just funny how the thought process works sometimes.Poker should not be in the olympics!
  6. I hardly do this but I'm going to actually disagree with Daniel on this one. I guess I'm not actually disagreeing but maybe don't understand why Daniel is so offended by this format. This team concept to me is just another form or way of playing poker. If you are playing for your country and for a team win, why would you not collude? I mean collusion in this aspect is the same as teamwork, like passing the ball to an open player for a lay up instead of shooting the contested three. If I played euchre, I'm not going to trump a trick my partner is already going to take, because our goal is
  7. What you just wrote is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point, in your rambling, incoherent response, were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone here is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
  8. Yeah but these kind of calls are made all the time(people love protecting their big blinds). On the other hand the same guy folds if the button goes all in, in this situation. In which yes the button picks up the blinds. At this point of the tourney though the guy is all in or fold..even if he picks up the blinds on this hand, he's all in or fold. When I'm shortstacked, yeah, I just want to pick up blinds/limps with hands like weak Aces, two face cards or little pairs, but a strong hand(the strongest) I want to induce action by 1 or 2 players. I guess that's not as +ev as stealing the blinds..
  9. play me anytime, I play at the lowly $0.50/$1 $1/2 nl tables on pokerhost. screen name Fanatikk.Thx for the constructive critisism. Honestly, instead of smart comments, why not just tell me why this is such a bad play? I mean, yes of course with say a big stack and 5 limpers, doubling the blind is horrible...but in this situation where he's short stacked, the blinds are high, and there's only 2 other people in the hand...what makes this such a moronic play?
  10. Give that lady an M&M or something. She's a walking skeleton.I remember her saying something along the lines"If we are actually in this war for oil, what's so bad about that?"classic
  11. I hate the small blind. I would hardly ever raise with a small pocket pair in that position. There's a couple situations where I would. Say there's a buncha limping going on. If I think I can take the pot down there, I'll make the "Barry" play and raise enough to hopefully get everyone to fold(probably 3*BB+number of limpers*BB)... or I'll pull out the Gus Hansen Strategy. Raise and if I get a couple of callers that's fine. Gus says he likes to act first after the flop because he has the first opportunity to bluff. So I bluff bet postflop and hopefully take it down there. Even so, most of the
  12. How about the 16 million Ivey took off Andy Beal a couple weeks ago.
  13. Wow, just think what that guy must be going through. He's probably killing himself for not getting up when he was up $500. Was there much trashtalking going on during the match?PS damn I am bored... but what the hell else am I going to do at work?
  14. fmlycar? How did the guy with AA play this hand horribly?? He played it perfectly, in my opinion. He's looking down at AA on the button with 1400 in chips 300/150 blinds. Everyone has folded to him. All he has is the small and big blinds in the hand. His objective here is to keep these guys in the hand. He wants to triple up or at least double up. By doubling the big blind he'll probably enduce a call or even a raise since he has so few chips. Why would he just want to steal the blinds at this point? He's shortstacked and needs chips. If he gets unlucky, so be it.
