I am happy to report that I will not have to go through this grooling process. Thank God. I've already had to do it on my computer, I didn't really want to do it on someone elses.I think the defrag helped and also i did the REGCLEAN utility from Microsoft, took out a few more start-up programs and the system seems to be running a lot better... Thank you for the response.Is the backup/format/reinstall a difficult process? I know nothing about backing up, unless it's burning some data to a disk. And does this mean wiping the harddrive clean, formatting it and re-loading xp, drivers, programs, etc from scratch?

Thank you.I really am sorry about bringing up the chop. I guess I could have just played it out and given away the call, but it's just something I'm really not interested in (sorry DN), I'd rather play for an hour heads up and get to ask questions at a private table, then to talk on the phone.
