Become a Canadian citizen and you won't have to worry about it.At most, 10 percent of poker players win. At most, a third of them pay any real taxes on those winnings. So, we are talking about 3 to 4 percent of poker players probably. I won't make enough to pay taxes on. If I clear 3-5k on the year, I obv won't ship a dime to Uncle Sam. -
Buy multiple monitors.I own a mac 15" laptop and like to play around four to six games at once. I would love to find out how you can adjust the size of the individual games so I can see all of them at once, without having to use the "all windows" option and then click which game I would like to play on. It gets annoying and I'm sure someone has figured out a way around this. I usually play on FT and have looked on their options menu but haven't seen anything that could help on their end either. What do you all do so that your multiple games are all visible? Thanks -
Thanks, as did you. Not to make excuses but I was playing two cash games at the same time and had a hard time focusing during heads up play. You took advantage of that very nicely, as you should have.It was a good game again tonight.felt bad for Goose, haha he just kinda played to try and make it more fair.mandlebrot played very well, p.s. POTY what?? -

Losing based on what time frame? Week? Month? Last night? And I assume you are defining losing as makes less money than puts in. And I assume you are referring to cash games or tournies also? And if Joe Hachem never wins another poker game in his life, that would still probably make him a winning player right? And I won't go into how you determined the 80%, though I have to say I think it's closer to 83.47%.

Luck is overwhelmingly the biggest factor compared to skill, but skill gives you an enormous edge. Here is a good exerpt from an article on gambling law and why - at least in a legal sense - poker is considered more of a game of chance than one of skill:
You can read the full article here. MandelbrotFor the time being, however, the law is such that poker is not a game in which the elements of skill predominate over chance. The time frame over which the elements that constitute skill in poker work to allow the more skilled player to “obtain more frequent rewards” is both uncertain and too lengthy.Consider that on any one hand of poker it cannot seriously be contended that skill outweighs chance. Also, the results of any given session of poker (one night, one tournament, etc.) are not likely to be determined based on the preponderant skill of any given player. Perhaps the result of playing many sessions for a whole year is indicative of skill predominating over chance. But, perhaps not. Poker "player of the year" awards have become popular over the past few years. No one has ever repeated as the winner from one year to the next. Indeed few repeat in the top ten of those lists from one year to the next. -
They all have diferent strengths / weaknesses depending on cash games vs tournaments, Limit vs NL vs PL HE, Hold'Em vs other games, etc... I think in the end though that Phil Ivey will beat them all - I see him all the time at Bellagio, TV, everywhere there is a game. He's a machine. He just needs to learn how to close a tournament rather than go out at the final table without the win.

Well the guy is nice but he's aloof. Bottom line was this:
Someone else should plan on playing tonight for our team I suppose, unless something happens in the next hour. Whomever is responsible for these tokens, please PM me so we can discuss.Regards, MandelbrotNeil - Full Contact Poker Support : Unfortunately, there is not much I can do at the moment, as I do not know the contact of who put together the tournament. -
On with them now via live chat, they're trying to help...

Nope. I dont see any "tickets" when I view my accnt and when I try to register I get the same "you cant buy a ticket" msg...

Tried to register in tonight's tournament and it tells me "A ticket for this tournament cannot be bought". So... how do I enroll? Sorry for the newb question but I usually play elsewhere online. As a side note, my user name on FCP is Mandelbrot but it appears as Mandelbrot0 when I access the client -- not sure if that matters. I disclaim any responsibility for the following advice: My recommendation to people who tell me they don't win online is to play higher stakes (within reason). This may sound counter-intuitive but usually it works (lots of reasons for this when you think about it). Course, this doesn't apply to people losing at already medium stakes -- e.g. the 10/20 tables. But if you're grinding it out at the .05/.10 tables, then I would highly encourage you to try your hand at 1/2.

I saw it on ESPN like 2 days ago. It's not all that funny - he just got pissed and started swearing at the floorperson while walking away.Much more entertaining was watching Hellmuth take a beat and tell a guy to his face that he can't even spell poker.

Really? Do you have any idea how much these poker celebrities make from endorsements, commercials, royalties, profit shares, and merchandising? They made several million per year per player over the past few years as the popularity of Poker has grown. Forget tournament money, these guys are making millions outside the poker rooms. I won't try to put numbers by these players because their incomes will depend a great deal on what they did with their earnings. However, I can guarantee you it is more than 50M combined. Not even 50 million.Maybe 25 if your lucky.
