  1. I know what you're sayin Whiskey. On Friday night, the UNC game was real close, and they kept it on the UAB/Kentucky game with 10 minutes left until the last possession of the UNC game.
You need to live in the south where UNC is ALWAYS on TV.thank god
  2. I don't wanna go open the HH and do all that, this one is fairly simple.Game is 3/6 and its 5 handed.I open one off the button with the 10 9 of spades. The SB and BB (both SL-A players) call. The flop comes 79J rainbow, one spadethey both check i bet, call callthe turn is the 3 of spadesSB check, BB bet, Hero raises, SB 3-bets, BB caps, Hero calls.River is a 9SB bets, BB raises, Hero ???EDIT: Originally I had a 10 on the river, it was supposed to be a 9, bringing me trips.

  3. QJ - 16 combosK3/T9 - 12 combosT3 - 9 combos93 - 6 combosAssuming he won't defend with trash, K3/T3/93 have to be discounted. When you discount those combos, he has a worse 2 pair just about as much as QJ. Adding in set combinations, KT, and something grossly overplayed, and QJ makes up about 1/3 of his range.
Loose passive players usually defend any two cards.
  4. Easy river raise, you won't get a lot of overcalls with worse hands with the 4-straight on board, but you will get a call from the villian and maybe a 3-bet if hes a donk with top two pair or a set.

  5. 6 handed home game, 0.25-0.50 blindseveryone playing pretty loose, aggressive (it's St. Paddy's Day and we've gone through more than a few Guinnesses), but the button is a good playerUTG+1 (~$40) raises to $2Button (~$80) re-raises to $4Hero (~170) calls on BB with :):) UTG+1 calls(pot = $12)Flop :club::D:D Hero checksUTG+1 checksButton bets $10Hero raises to $25UTG+1 foldsButton calls(pot = $62)Turn :D I don't like that card - what's the next move?
    Hero shouldn't be calling preflop
  6. I think you're wrong on this one.His hand range is pretty narrow when he 3-bets the turn. He either has a set, an overpair, or is running a bad semi-bluff with AK (unlikely).Because his hand is so transparent, it is much better for me to call the turn 3-bet so that I can see if the board pairs the river. I'll save a bet when the board pairs. He will almost always bet AA-QQ on the river. I can then c/r if the board doesn't pair, and the same bets go in.FWIW, I think the river is a check/call since I can't fold to a 3-bet. It's very close though, and it may well be a check/raise.
I think a C/R is easily the worst option.River check/raises are seldom correct, and especially incorrect here.I don't see how this is anything but a value bet on the river.
  7. not sure if your question is about the turn or riveri don't hate the turn play - without a read, 3-betting is tough, though possibly correct.the river - can't c/c this. I don't want to bet/raise, since if he caps, that's 4 bets he is winning. bet/call seems a bit weak though, since he could easily have a T here. if i have any respect for him, i bet/call, but if not, I CR/call. for a complete unknown at 5/10 SH on party, i probably bet/call.
Why would argue to call the turn but bet the river?
  8. Really? Why are you so certain we're going to get 3-bet here? There aren't too many players willing to 3-bet Ax OOP on this board.I like keeping the pressure on in these situations, especially since SB is capable of folding. I wouldn't be raising the flop for a free card. I'd raise to set up a fold later on. The only problem here is that any ace high is getting to the river. And once they get there, they will probably end up seeing showdown. Of course, his range is a lot wider than just Ax. It includes stuff like QJ and K9 that will peel the flop and fold the turn or river UI. I think this is a good spot to take control of the hand to set up a turn or river fold.If you did just call, I don't think you can possibly fold the turn UI. You have an average of around 8 outs, and your implied odds are very good if he happens to hold an ace and the straight hits.
Isn't that the best argument to not pump a pot with 8 high? You give us 8 clean outs?If we raise and get called on the flop, we would be getting 5 to 1 if he bets the turn, nowhere close enough to stay in the hand even with implied odds.
  9. i said thanks at the end ****tard.my buddy called me this morning to tell me what i did at the bar last night. Evidently there was a gorgeous girl that was all over me for some reason. She was kissing my neck at this point and I guess I looked at her, and said "I have to puke", then I walked away.
    "dude" isnt spelled "girl"
  10. Ok, I called (obviously, or this wouldn't be much of a play-along). I think screech is right, that position and equity likely make this a call (although I'd listen if someone finds a good argument otherwise).I think absolute is right though, about folding against a button steal (particularly with the SB only being 1/3). I think the rake needs to be considered as well when you are deciding whether cto defend (regardless of position), as it can turn an otherwise marginal call into a fold.----------------------------------------------------------Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (5 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cxPreflop: Hero is BB with [6d], [8c]. 3 folds, SB raises, Hero calls.Flop: (4 SB) [2c], [4d], [3d] (2 players)SB bets, Hero......Interesting flop, what's should my action and plan be?
this isn't a terrible situation for a free card raise, but you get three-bet too often i call and fold the turn UI
  11. I ran the monte carlo sim. I went to the pf part, and put it on 45% of the hands.Again, it makes no difference what the limit is. The only difference is that LAGs tend to play better postflop at higher limits, but this guy is a full blown maniac. He's bad.I don't agree with chris' comments. For 1, KT does have showdown value. You bet the flop, get called, bet the turn, get called, and check behind the river. You will beat a fair number of hands in this case.Secondly, if he doesnt slow down postflop, that's great for us. We can play fit or fold on the flop (peeling if we have odds), and get huge action from this clown when we hit. Having position on a guy who spews is great. If we fold because we miss and he keeps pushing, that's fine too. We've sent him the message that he can push us around, so he'll be more inclined to spew at us in the future. And it's not an ego thing either. Anyone who plays decently postflop is bound to make money against these players in position with roughly 50/50 equity. BTW, KTo is as low as I'd go. I wouldn't 3-bet it if other people at the table had adjusted and where now calling/capping light.
I think there is a misconception about how easy it is to play a maniac post-flop. Maniacs generally play better post-flop than other players at a shorthanded table.I just don't understand why we would put ourselves in a situation where our hand barely has any equity at all against a maniac who is going to put us on tough decisions unless we hit the board. The reason loose aggressive players run over tables is because people get sick of it and three-bet them with KTo.If I knew that my playing too many hands would cause this, I'd play like a "maniac" too.EDIT: I realize the precariousness of this topic. Obviously if the hero had KJo or K9o there would be no argument or discussion. It's obviously close. I am simply of the belief that good players avoid situations against maniacs where they will have to play almost perfectly in order for the play to be valuable. It's just too hard to read a maniac.
  12. I talked with wrto a bit about this hand. He agrees that this is a leak (and he plays this level). You are three-betting a hand that has zero showdown value against a player who is NOT going to slow down on any flop. You will be put to tough decisions on the flop when you do this. Everyone's ego wants to tell them that we can play so good post-flop that we will have value in situations like these.Even with a small equity edge and position (if there is one), its extremely doubtful that we are going to make enough right decisions to make this a profitable play.Chris(wrto)'s comments were"K high has no showdown value""AT would be a way better 3-bet because its actually ahead of A2"I agree with those sentiments. We just don't hit enough flops, get dominated too often when we get action, and don't make enough calldowns to justify making this play against a maniac.
