Chris Ferguson turned $1 into $20k in about six months. He did this by only buying in for 10% of his bankroll in any one session. Remember, that meant that he started with penny tables. He grinded it out as an experiment to see if he could do it. When his roll grew big enough, 10% of his bankroll would be enough to buy into the next level. His goal in any one session was to double his buy in. You have the added pressure of making a living. Well, just think about that for a minute. What's your bankroll? What's your living expense each month? Now, if you have to retain ten times a single buy in

You said that you didn't have a read on him. But you must have put him on a hand. What were you thinking after the turn?Facinating topic BTW.

Ok, so I'm playing a lot of online tournaments. And I keep getting it in with the best. Here's some examples. One: I'm in the big blind with J5 and four people just call. The flop is J 5 10 with two hearts. I bet half the pot and somebody puts me all in early in the tournament. I call KNOWING he has the flush draw, but I have two pair. He actually hits runner/runner straight and I'm out. Two: I have 2 3 in the small blind and see the flop cheap. The flop is 4 5 6. I overbet the pot and somebody puts me all in with two pair (6's and 4's). He rivers the full house. I'm out. Three: I raise under t

I played my first live poker at 18 in a Minnesota casino at an Indian reservation. I was so scared that the first time I threw my chips in the pot my hand was shaking and the chips rolled all over the table and onto the floor. However, that was a million years ago. I left, got on my dinosaur and rode back to the cave. I'm sure much has changed. Do they still have phonographs at the bar?

I started reading Daniel’s blog before the FCP became THE FCP. Back then it was a plainer looking site with gold(ish) accents and it had some very basic information on DN. There was a trophy room that didn’t always work and some bio information. No forum. No online poker site. Just a basic web page. And a blog…I started reading it whenever a new post was made. There was no responding to it in forums. I don’t even know how many people even read it. But I did and I thought first and foremost that DN was a pretty darn good writer. I knew he could play some cards, but I was really taken with his a

Why are poker players good dates? Here's the top 10!10. Because two queens will always look up your big A9. Because poker players never mind when you bring home the pot8. Because you'll always get a raise from their 697. Because poker players hold their big stack until they see a big pair6. Because they always call after you go all in5. Because they believe in Jesus and won't go to Helmuth4. Because you always Nguyen when they plant the Seed3. Because they'll be your biggest Phan when you turn into Moneymaker2. Because they'll always take a Chip off the old Blochand the number one reason to da

I can't find any updates anywhere on the heads-up tourney at the Bike. Anyone know how DN is doing?
-
It's a million either way. But you could win one tournament in one month for a million. Or you could reach two final tables over two months and hit 2nd place and 3rd place and make a million. I think it's more of a challenge to make two final tables and almost hit twice. So yeah, 500k per month over four tournaments would be a better show of poker skill than hitting one tournament win and busting the other three. Consistency in the current poker world is the true sign of skill. You gotta give it to the guy. He went out with a mission and he hit it. So I say again, congrats DN!
-
Ok, so I made a stupid mistake. I was including the Five Diamond because I was thinking it was in early January. So he didn't make over a million in one month, he actually is averaging over 500k PER month. The second one actually sounds more impressive to me. Anyway, well done DN! You called it...you did it!

Daniel said in his blog today that:"With two cashes adding up to just a little over half a million, I'd say that the trip was well worth it"According to my math, it should be just over 1.1 million. What gives?Hey DN, did you sell half your action? Just curious.

Well I still find it interesting but then I'm easily amused Obviously if you have three callers in before you, the raise to 57k loses more punch relative to overall pot size. But does one caller make a difference? Is this approach specifically designed to only be used when there are no other callers in the pot yet? Just trying to understand more of the small ball approach that Daniel raves about. I don't plan to quit my day job.
-
Is it a pot sized bet? If one person before you calls the big blind, do you add that to the 57k and bet 81k? Or is it just tied to the BB+SB+7(ante)?If it's just what's in the pot, then I agree that it's just a pot sized bet. If not, it's a formula that is fixed. Does that make sense or am I just confused (I'm certainly willing to admit the latter) .Interesting topic!

You let it escalate too much on the flop. You have a good hand to be sure. But there is a flush draw and a straight possiblity. He could have those or could have the ace with a big kicker. Once you see that he's escalating the betting with you, stop it with a call and take a card off the turn. You can do that with the $15 bet. Then you can evaluate based on what he does. He may try to trap you and let you peel off a river card free. Or he may make it obvious that you'd better run for the hills. If the turn comes a diamond, he may act meek given the flush draw on board. You can then pounce and r -

You know, a guy just tries to have a little fun by rallying votes and I get all of this abuse? I like DN. I like the FCP he created and just wanted to see him win an award.Oh well, I guess you can't please everybody. No good deed goes unpunished, right? At least he won! -
Good job FCP! I posted, lobbied and generally annoyed anyone who would listen to vote on Cardplayer and I know a bunch of you did too.Congratulations to DN for winning the People's Choice award. The FCP community rallied and it paid off big time!
-
The Cardplayer awards were held last night. I worked liked crazy to get votes for DN to win the People's Choice award. And now the event has come and gone and I can NOT find the results anywhere.Does anybody know if DN won?
-
This is the last post. I've gotten over 2,000 people to review my posts. That should have resulted in a lot of votes. I've personally gotten dozens of votes from friends and co workers. My work here is done.I hope that people took the time to vote for DN after all he has done for the FCP community. I think it would be very cool for FCPers to rally and give the award to him. That's it for the posting. The awards are this week.Good luck, Daniel!
-
The weekend is the last chance. So make your last push for FCP and go vote for DN!
-
It's almost over.SO VOTE ALREADY!
-
If you ever need a creepy stalker guy he's probably up for the challenge as well. He's a double threat. You know, you try to do something nice and somebody calls you a stalker. Oh well, did you vote?
-
I just learned that I got two more votes. If DN wins by two votes, I can take the credit!Wouldn't YOU like to say the same thing?
