i think i know how to beat the 180 man sng's on star
theredpill99 replied to theredpill99's topic in Tournament Play
I will say that I've actually used this strategy to make final tables. This was last year when I didn't even understand the mathematics of it.Ok, it would be hard to play for 5 hours in a 3000 player tourney and lose it all but if you watch ZeeJustin, he does put all $200,000 chips on the line to advance to final table quite a few times. -

18000 is definitely enough to make the final table. Everyone starts with 1500. 1500* 180= 270,000 270000/10 players = 27000 per player average at final table . Ok, so you would be slightly short but you would make up on it with AA vs QQ hands and stuff like that. The less coinflips you have in making the final table, the greater your profit margin. 1/2 * 1/2 = 1/4 . If you can do it in 2 coinflips, obviously you will win 2 coinflips in a row 1 in 4 times. You said that a better strategy would be to get all your money in for 1/2 your stack? I can't see how that would be a -
Ok, hold on. Before you flame me, give me a chance. This won't be a revelation to Daniel Negreanu or probably most people on this site but I used to play tourneys last year all the time without any real consideration for the mathematics of tourneys. But I was thinking about the math when I saw ZeeJustin go on that crazy run to win the $500,000 tourney. He was constantly in coin flips and you may ask how that is a +EV game. Well, it happens to definitely be a +EV game to play like that. I've never read Harrington on Holdem so these ideas may be in it or they may not I have no idea

16th place. I think this was the first money finish I've had in about 6 months. SNG's or anything actually. I would have been a contender to win it had my QQ held up. If QQ held, I would have had 20,000 chips. I would have made top 10 at least. -

Would you call a short stacks all-in with Js 9s in BB when getting 2 to 1 on your money. I had 6700. He had 2500 and he pushed all-in on the button. I figured him for nearly anything so I called. He had KK. This is why I stopped playing tourneys. Idiots suck out on you. -

short lived. God damn. That sucked. JJ loses to AK.I mean jesus christ. THe one guy left to call in the BB and he has AK. Jesus christ. Worst luck. Of course my JJ loses. Her JJ flops a set and mine loses. -
Yeah so I was playing some tourneys today because I hadn't done that in a long time.I'm on Tournament 19218661 Table 10 NL holdem. Last 2 tables. I lost a lot of chips to QQ vs JJ. JJ flopped a set on me all-in preflop. sucks but I'm back. I'm in the money. Last 18red999 Later.

Yep, long game. I always get the tough opponents. All the easy ones have lost all their money. I think folding was right here also. Another bet would have pot committed me. It was basically all-in here or check/fold at this point. I think I only had 1600 after my flop bet of 400.

Only play that I saw that was horrible was Jwebb and maybe the guy drawing to the straight with T9. If you are getting 2 to 1 on your money, I don't see anything wrong with calling with KT right there and drawing to the nut straight. Am I wrong ? If a 3 falls on the turn, and a 9 falls on the river, do you still make this post?

Does Zeejustin really know what's he doing? Yeah, he won this tournament but some hands were questionable. I mean do you think he completely knows the theory behind the moves? It seems to me that he was constantly trying to get in 50/50 all-in hands. Is that they way to win these big tournies? Phil Hellmuth says to not go all-in with small pocket pairs but ZeeJustin was all-in with 22 vs AJ and 77 vs AQ and KQ vs 33. Countless hands like that. What do you think? Is he just figuring that:1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 = 1/256 So maybe he'll get enough chips t -

Best video player on the net. It doesn't use codecs. It will play anything. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ -
Is this a college? I'm guessing that your school is blocking those ports ? I'm not sure. If your school is blocking the ports that Party Poker needs then I don't see anyway around that. Party Poker is so picky with their software so you might be out of luck.

No, that's not my brother. Thanks man. That's only thing that makes me feel better right now. I've lost about $800 Net this week. I can't win anything right now. I'm going to have to step it up in some way or I will seriously be completely broke in about a few weeks.

Well, why someone would distribute that video over Bittorrent is beyond me. REally bad way to distribute a video. It's only 154 mb. They should of just put it on Rapidshare in 2 parts. The tracker kicked me off so I'm not seeding it anymore. That video makes me want to play tourneys again. I'm sure that is what it was designed to do. -
No wonder I can't win any money lately. People folding queens.
