  1. I must say that i havent really been reading up on your previous posts on this topic, because i never bothered. I actually bothered to sit down and read this one, and i must say it was very good. I really enjoyed it and i am planning on reading the others immediately. Keep up the good work!
  2. "I have played cash games in school, i won 540 in study hall once"Really? that's a lot. my study hall sucks, the kids are afraid to bet like 2 dollars
  3. schupick012cubs , believe it or not that 500-800 is all theirs, teens can have jobs. I myslef have a job and that is where most of my money comes from. Most of the kids that lose a lot are either rich and get money from their parents or some are just good, i know a kid, who graduated this past year that once won a tourney in which he receieved 4500 dollars for winning, which is a ton for money for any teenager. I will admit this, some kids i have met have stolen money to play poker and i agree that is a problem but some of the kids its all theirs, and again most kids only play from 5-30, so
  4. I totally disagree, i really dont think there is anything wrong with teens playing poker. I am 16, and i play poker almost three times a week, i play for about $10-20 everytime, yes i do see instances where i also think it gets out of hand. Sometimes i might see kids my age lose $500-$800 dollars in poker, which is way to much for somebody my age. On the other hand i also see kids using the $20 dollars that i would use on poker in order to purchase alcohol or drugs. With that being said, i think poker is a much better alternative for teens over drugs and alcohol. Where i live, losing $10 d
  5. sorry about that, i guess i thought i knew more than i did, but where was the article posted, i didnt catch it if it was.
  6. Andy Beal is a very wealthy businessman out of Dallas that regularly plays in the big game due to the fact that the money is not as big of an issue to him, he is still a very good player neverthess. I think there is actually a feud brewing between Andy and Doyle, check this out...http://www.cardplayer.com/poker_magazine/a...4293&m_id=65547
  7. This is the reason someone like you does not have alot of money. This of course is meant with no offense, just stating there are multiple views on what to do with $$$. I like to save and manage my money, while many of my friends are tryign to buy bigger sub woofers, more ghetto shoes, the newest clothes, and the best video games. I however, am very frugle when it comes to buying MYSELF things. I spend roughly 10 dollars or so per week. This said, I am very fortunate that my parents are in a comfortable financial situation and offer to pay for all my needs, such as a car, gas and insurance
  8. Here are my thoughts on the situation...why the hell are you mad about somebody else posting something you do not personally enjoy, this is a poker forum, they can talk about whatever poker they want to. Your ignorant in the fact that you called it stupid without really even knowing what it was about. The fact that you are sixteen and have a 50K bankroll can only mean a couple of things ( i am also sixteen)... you are spoiled as hell and your parents are retarded...you aren't spoiled and just used your own money and sucessfully built a rather nice bank roll, and if so good for you...and fina
  9. I have a hat that i bought when i lost my old hat when i was golfing and then i started to wear it at the tables and i have done good since, and i have a playlist on my iPod specially designed for poker.
  10. Just like you i am also sixteen, and somebody made a good point before saying that after the first split you felt obligated to split the next time, but in the future you should actually play him heads up at least one time just to see who is better, it would be fun. I know what it is like to be a pretty heavy poker player at sixteen and you want to take any money that is given to you, i feel that way all the time but i also know that if i split going into a heads up match i will never get better at playin heads up because not everybody is gonna say the wanna split.
  11. One time i laid down a royal flush... ...Seriously... ...Im kidding, had you fooled din't i  , but seriously i once laid down an ace high flush to a boat, i just got one of those feelings.
  12. Final two of a 87 person tourney and i am a 6-1 chip leader, i was dealt Q J and on the button, the guy calls i raise, he re-raises all in, i have to call so i do. He turns over A A . Flop comes A A 2 , so im dead, turn comes K and the river comes 10 , giivin me the runner-runner royal.
  13. IN Daniel's most recent journal he talks about he thinks that Tilt is going to give poker a very bad image, somebody asked about what the pro's think of Tilt ina previous post.
  14. The biggest and most obvious tell for inexperienced players is the old trying to act intimidaing when they are weak and they act like they do not care when they are strong. A lot of weak players will glance at their hole cards when there is a potential straight or flush on the board to see if they might have a draw. One time i actually saw i guy start counting to see if he had a straight.
  15. i am pretty sure that Daniel has a journal in which he talks about a guy smoking at the rail at the Bellagio and he asked him to leave, that would be funny if it was him.
  16. Best advice i can give is to just outplay them on the flopbecause most inexperienced players i know will just play their cards and won't play anubody else, so if they miss you will know anf if they hit you should know. Look for beginner poker tells, one that i see a lot in inexperienced players is when they stare at you during a bluff, it's hilarious how intimidating they try to make themselves.
  17. I can't believe that i said Led Zepplin did Smoke on the Water i feel like an idiot, i was just in the Led Zepplin train of thought and was not paying attention at all.
  18. I don't think that necessarily the lower limit games have more unobservant players i just the think the worse the players are the lower the stakes. I actually went to a 1-2 game just for fun and i thoight i would run an experiment. I would fold every hand except KK or AA preflop. Well i didn't pick up either of those hands for about 2 1/2 hours and during that time only one person left or busted. So i eventually picked up AA and raised on the button EVERYBODY CALLED that was six other people at the time flop came A 2 8 , the small checked and the big bet, allbut two people folded, having t

  20. I have a friend that went down to harrah's about three weeks ago and he said it was alright and i also had a friend that went to the trump one and he said it sucked but i personally have not been to either and i do not know if i want to considering it is located in the worst town in America.
  21. Luck is a big factor in poker, of course there are going to be times in which you just get terrible cards and there is nothing you can do about it. But what makes some players great is how well they prepare for those swings of luck and how they adapt to the given situation. The top teir players are ones who can make a good situation out of something bad. Anybody can win if they get pockets aces every hand but it won't happen it is how well you prepare for these opportunities that make you a good player.
  22. yea i don't see what the guy was so mad about and complaining, yea he got rivered but he started off with the worst hand.
  23. I was in a $150 buy in tourney with about 175 people(give or take a few) and i made it all the way to the final three and i was the chip leader. I felt like i was playing great poker on top of my game. So we are three handed and im on the button and i pick up AA so i raise 6x the BB, small folds and the big blind calls. Flop comes A33 and before i can get happy the Big moves all in so i immediately call and he turns over 63. Ithought...What?...i was still in the lead but seriously, 63? so the turn brings a blank and the river brings, yes a 3. I did, however, go on to win so it was alright.
  24. been playin for three years and just got mine about 3 weeks ago, me and my friends got together a little 9 man tourney $75 buy in winner take all. Anyways it came at the very best time, down to to me and 2 others. I am on the button and i pick up A K so i make a standard raise small blind calls and the big blind reraises so i called and so did the small blind. flop comes 10 2 Q small blind checks, big bets and i call and then the small calls too (by the way im the chip leader). Turn brings the J and i almost peed my pants, i didnt but almost, small bets, big raises, i call, small cal
