Halloween, High Stakes Poker, and the FCP Charter Member Program

02 Nov 2005

So from my last blog, I'm assuming that many of you were able to figure out that I went to Todd Brunson's party as... Scotty Nguyen!

I’ll have pictures up in the photo gallery shortly, but until then I’ll give you a brief description of the get up:

Shoes: I had Travis go to Boot Land to find a pair of white snakeskin boots.

Pants: I also had him pick up a pair of white denim jeans. They fit pretty tight and I wore the boots underneath the pants.

Top: I wore a black undershirt with a with a white unbuttoned collared shirt.

Glasses: I wore a pair of light blue Oakleys.

Hair. I bought a rock star wig and cut it into a mullet. It was curly too which was perfect.

Accessories: I bought about 8 various gold chains with bling, bling, pendants. I also wore my 2003 SHOE WSOP Bracelet on my left wrist, and my Borgata bracelet on my right hand. Then, I put on three rings that I won at the Legends of Poker, plus the gaudy ring that Lori used to prank me at our wedding.

I could have stopped there, but the plan was to go all out! I headed by the drug store and bought a pack of Winston cigarettes and a case of Michelob, both of Scotty’s favorites.

When I pulled up to Todd’s I saw Bellagio poker room manager Doug Dalton getting out of his car and said, “Hey bro, what you doin’?”
Doug, then replied, “Hey Scotty, how are you doing?”

He totally thought it was Scotty, lol. He got a little closer and realized it was me. Before I walked into Todd’s house I wanted to add one more touch. I put a cigarette behind my ear and opened a bottle of the Michelob. When I walked in, Todd said something like, “I don’t remember inviting Scotty?”

The party was a lot of fun, and I had some competition for “best costume” for sure. Richard Belski, who you’ll remember did reporting at the WSOP for www.cardplayer.com was there with his buddy Mike Matusow.

Mike was dressed as a chicken with a thermometer in his mouth… “Bird Flu,” get it? It was Belski, though, that had me cracking up. He was dressed as an inmate with “Matusow” taped across his chest! LOL, too funny.

I stayed pretty late talking politics surprisingly enough.

Ok, now this is really exciting for me. Full Contact Poker has grown so much over the past year it totally blew my mind. I feel like I’ve become “buddies” with a lot of people in the forums at FCP. I had a chance to meet some of them at the FCP weekend, the likes of Governator, DCSports, jeffgen, Royal Tour, Jason Bo, and Chadwick.

There are other frequent posters in the forum too that I feel I’ve grow to know. I feel like I have to look out for “Marion Sauce” like a big brother since, “Smash” is apparently making a move!

I always feel like I have to keep Ron Mexico in line, no easy task! KDwagCometh, Nikki N, Akishore, dna4ever, Spademan, Suited_Up, digital monkey (my hockey maven), teneight, Iveyfan39, MissIdaho, SwiftPsycho, and so many more, have made reading the forums and being a part of the FCP community a lot of fun for me.
So on that note, I wanted to let everyone know that the re-launch of the Full Contact Poker website is just a month away. It will have a new look and a bunch of new exciting features you are all going to love.

Also, the FCP “Biz Team” is planning several unique contests and promotions with various prizes including trips to Las Vegas, and maybe hanging out with me and some other high profile poker “celebrities.” I hate that word, silly word. “Celebrity,” what is the deal with that? We are supposed to “Celebrate” their existence? Please.

Anyway, with the launch of the new site there are going to be a lot more FCP junkies around here. It’s important to me, though, that those of you who have been FCPers all along get special benefits when it comes to promotions and things of that nature.

I’m not just talking about the regular posters in the forum, I’m talking about the posters, lurkers, and even those that are regular readers of the blog.

So for the next month, from November 1st till the November 30th deadline you’ll have a chance to sign up as a charter member of FCP. Again, that will grant you special privileges related to promotions exclusive to the FCP charter members. After November 30th, no charter members will be accepted.

Signing up is about as easy as… well as easy as clicking on this link: FCP Charter Member Sign up and following the instructions.

So if you are a regular visitor to the site you’ll definitely want to be a charter member. What is that catchy phrase they use, “Membership has it’s privileges?” Something like that right? Anyway, do it right now, because as of November 30th it will be too late.

Tomorrow morning I’ll be headed over to the Golden Nugget to take part in a new television series called, “High Stakes Poker.” What is it? Well, it is a REAL high stakes cash game with a $100,000 minimum buy in. The game will be no limit hold’em with $300-$600 blinds and a $100 ante and we’ll be playing for three days.

Players like, Barry Greenstein, Doyle Brunson, Jennifer Harman, Jerry Buss, Sammy Farha, Erick Lindgren, Bob Stupak, Freddie Deeb, Todd Brunson, Ted Forrest, and a host of others will be in and out of the game over the next three days. Tomorrow, I’m going to play 8 hours along with Jennifer and Barry while other players will come and go. It’s all for REAL money and we are all putting up the money ourselves.

So with that, I’ve decided to buy in for… a million dollars. Not that I expect to need all that much money, but I feel that it’s important to let my opponents know that I mean business. Most players will probably buy in for the minimum, but as I start tomorrow with Barry Greenstein and Doyle Brunson, my guess is that there might be about $4 million on the table. It should be interesting.

Lastly, did you sign up yet? What are you waiting for! wassat
