$5 buy-in Omaha Hi-Lo tournament. Blinds are 30-60. My stack is about average at $900.

In early position, I limp with A icon_suit_diamond.gif 3 icon_suit_diamond.gif J icon_suit_club.gif J icon_suit_spade.gif .
Two other players limp and blinds play along.

Flop come K icon_suit_heart.gif 8 icon_suit_diamond.gif 4 icon_suit_diamond.gif Giving me draws to the nut flush and second nut low. Blinds check, I bet, player right after me raises, third limper cold calls, so does small blind, big blind folds, and I call.

Turn brings gin with the J icon_suit_diamond.gif . I have the nut flush now, along with trips jacks for backup, and still the 2nd nut low draw.

Small blind bets out, now what do I do? A raise might get me heads-up against a probable lower flush with a worst low draw? I might lost action though to my big hand if the players fold behind? Calling also might let someone catch a better low with A2 without paying two big bets.

I ended up calling along with the other two players. Five hits river. Small blind bets, I raise, and all three call. I end up splitting with someone who had A2.

Was my call correct?

Easy raise, very easy.

See why? A2 won't fold, weak flush won't fold.... you put a knife on their heads and they still won't fold. Just build the pot.

Good luck.

IMO you should raise this every time, at that stage of the tourney for sure. Ace 2's won't fold regardless, and many a bad flush, two pair, and trips will come anyhow. 8)
