Sitting at a good table IMO, lots of limpers, hardly any raises pre-flop, so I decide to play some medium connectors which I NEVER do unless I can help it(double suited though!)
Stage #171983829: Omaha Hi/Lo Normal $0.50/$1 [ 2005-08-17 12:32:31 ]
C - Post small blind $0.25
H - Post big blind $0.50
M - Post $0.50
ROCKETWAD - Pocket [Jd,Qd,8c,9c]
U - Calls $0.50
ROCKETWAD - Calls $0.50
B - Calls $0.50, J - Folds, G - Calls $0.50, M - Checks, V - Calls $0.50

B - Calls $0.50, G - Calls $0.50, M - Folds, V - Calls $0.50
6 to the flop...
*** FLOP [6d,3c,7c] ***
Good/bad flop for me. Lows will be jamming it me thinks, but I do have open ended straight draw and bad flush draw...

G - Calls $0.50, V - Calls $0.50

Terrible turn card, even though my flush is there. Bail to any action I figure...

What is up with those U, T, G, B, R....? How could "U" be changed to "R" preflop? Did "U" ask "R" to play this hand for him/her since it's raised and U got freaked out?
If I've won enough money from this table and knew the table was this loose, I would definitely play.
So preflop there was 13.5 SB if I was right.
On the flop you had 6 clean outs (except 5c & Tc) for straight (forget about the flush, it's weak). Knowing that since I am playing against a bunch of call stations, I will need to put 1 SB to win (13.5+6)/2 ~= 10 SBs so I will call.
I would fold the turn too.
Now think it backward from the beginning, it's not a good hand to start with. It takes a better hand to enter the pot in LO8.
I would still play this one at PLO8, but definitely fold it on the flop. Just my opinion.

In trying to clean it up, I may have messed up the names...
Based on my description of the table action, and looking at the end results, do you still think it is a bad starting hand and a good fold (I know your not supposed to care about the results, but they give you an idea of what these guys play like)? This hand was typical of almost every hand I played there today at lunch... :?

Here's what I think, since the table is that loose, doesn't it take a stronger hand to avoid getting run over by the buffalos?
Of course I by no mean am a limit poker specialist. But say in limit holdem, if you are up against a bunch of call stations, will you tighten up or loosen up your starting hand requirement? I think the same answer could go to LO8.
I don't know what's Aseem's or Smash's take on this.
Since I still haven't had a deeper understanding in LO8 than I have in PLO8, I will stick to stricter starting hand requirements. Just My opinion.

My opinion (and I said this just recently in another post a day or two ago...one of aseem's I think) is that these connectors should NEVER be played, even when they are double suited (such as the hand I have here).
Too often, you will be chasing only half the pot (like here), and may not get there. Or, when you do get there, it may not be the nut straight/flush that will be available by the end of the hand, and it will get mighty expensive in the long run.
Based on how loose/passive the table is th0ugh, this hand has to be considered better than average pre-flop, but can easily become crap after the flop. It may be worth one SB to see a flop with hands like these (if you know you can get away from it easily after the flop)...
