I folded, but I feel like I made a mistake because there were a few others in the pot that just called him. What do all you omaha-ers think?
(And for the record, I'm up about $200 at $25PLO since I made my first post)

yeah im curious about stuff like this, smash or someone s-mart reply to this please heh
ive been playing omaha for the last week and having good results (probably because ABSOLUTELY NOBODY on bodog knows what omaha even is)
for example, is calling the 75 cents for your boat a good play here or what
i realize calling 5 dollars shouldnt ever happen here, heh

I think that I fold this. It's been drilled into me that PL O/8 is a game of the nuts so assuming that he has the made straight with perhaps the nut flush draw. I have 7 outs on the turn to the boat and 10 outs on the river. Doesn't give me the odds to call this pot bet.
There is also a slight chance if two low cards fall on the turn/river that I'm only playing for 1/2 the pot.
Unless you know that he bluffs a lot with nothing in which case your set is leading, I would fold.

PLO, not PLO8
I have observed one person in the 4000 hands of PLO so far that has bluffed. Everybody else is value-betting what they believe to be the best hand. Whether or not that's actually the case.

Well, lesse. You have 9 outs to the presumed nuts (3 9s, 3 8s, 3 non diamond 10s) on the flop. If you miss the turn and its not diamond, you have 12. I would have called the .75, but getting potted back to me scares me. I'm an uberdonk sometimes, tho, so I might have peeled one off here. Would depend on the read (would he pot this with just a straight, wth no flush redraw? would he do this with an underset?)

I'm torn on this one.
You have top set, so you have 9 outs to get your full house (if you even need it). You have 3 pure outs to have the nut straight (the other ten may make a flush).
I might take one off here to see what comes up. Fold if UI though me thinks.

I'm pretty sure I will need a boat. There are quite a few cards that make this board even more undesirable on the turn. Just in my experience, someone re-potting it on a scary board like that is most likely a straight. It could be the sucker straight, but generally people try (futilely, I might add) to protect their hands.

Always with the winking.

I don't think taking a card off could be a mistake because of the implied odds. You're getting action if you fill up and somebody has a lower set. Whoever has the straight will probably pay off $3-4 on the end even when the board does pair.

ok you flop top set....there are about 5 people in the hand and 3 people limp for 75 cents...then some toolshed raises the pot...its on you... if there are 3 people behind you to call a big bet you should call the pot size bet. if even one of them call its in your favor. if both call you have a chance to scoop a large pot.. you may get some idiot trying to chase a low and some other toolshed with 2 pair...nut flush draw..or ass end of a straight...more then likely the tool rasing first has the nuts at the time..you have to take implied into effect on this hand...if you dont you will be a loser. you are calling a weak 4 dollar bet to catch a monster hand on the turn. if the board pairs on the turn you know where the scoop is at and you now get a chance to bet the pot which would be more like 15 or 20 which woudl mean you were calling 5 in order to win a huge pot. there might even be another player who has mid or bottom set... you should atleast see one card if there are more than 2 people in or if there are more people behind you waiting to act..

Wow, you must have used the word "tool" like six times, and I'm not sure if that's one sentence or one paragraph.
I should have called the bet. I wasn't taking into account that I had potentially 2 callers behind me. Thanks for the input. Toolshed.

With the cards you had working for you and the price you were getting, I think a call may have been in order here. Its tricky, because if he's drawing to the flush, all you have working for you is the boat; but at this point, you had a str8 and a boat opportunity and the outside chance at quads. That's what makes PLO such a crazy game. Your odds can shift dramatically in the blink of a bet.
My read on the people involved would have weighed into my decision to call or not. But more than likely yes, since it seems as if there were more callers behind you as well.

I recall an old Paul Samuel (Poker and Math) article where he discusses and analyses top set remaining the nuts after the flop. I found it and reread it with pleasure.
http://www.pokerpages.com/articles/archive...es/samuel02.htm
After you read it you will know exactly where your set of jacks exist on the food chain in Omaha. Paul Samuel states:
QUOTE
If you hold 22-JJ there is NO chance of retaining the nuts on the river!
(Perhaps another reason why QQ, KK, AA are the only premium pairs?)
I hope this helps any Omaha players and happy reading!
Good luck in your games!

Good Read. Could have done without the uncalled for American bashing, but nonetheless a good and intelligent read.
