Hey all. Long time since I played PLO and even longer live. Bit of back story. I had a date that didn't go great so I decided to cheer myself up with some poker, since my online roll is busto I took out £100 and went to sit in a game at the local casino which is usually £1/£1 NLHE, to my surprise they were playing PLO but I thought I'd roll with it. 6-handed (after I joined). I recognised 3 of the guys as regular HE players and the other 2 were unknown. I won a big hand with set over set but then went a little dead and lost a chunk when a draw missed. I have £80, others (in the hand) cover.

Hand:

Hero is button with: 5s.gif 7s.gif 8h.gif 9h.gif

UTG folds, UTG+1 raises to £3, CO folds, Hero calls, SB folds, BB calls.

Flop: 7c.gif 10c.gif jh.gif

BB leads out for £10, UTG+1 raises to £40, Hero folds.

Thoughts?

You're probably up against a set and a higher str8 draw and flush draw. Not bad to lay here as you are probably not favored even though you are ahead at the moment. I don't know if I could fold but I think its the right move over the long run in Omaha as you have no re-draws of any kind.

erm, checking your equities, you're not even "ahead" at this point if you're against the combination that you said above. Not to mention the very likely chance that you're getting freerolled by someone with the same straight already. Good fold.

By ahead I meant if opponent has a set or a flush draw or a higher straight draw then we are ahead correct. NOT FAVORED but ahead, which is why I said this was not a bad lay down because of the fact we have no re-draws. He asked for opinions so I gave mine and you basically said the same thing and added he could have the same straight and by also trying to make me appear to be a dumbass. Thanks

Not at all trying to make you seem like a dumbass, I was just expanding on what you said. Nothing wrong with your opinion. I added that there was a good chance we were up against the same straight already, and that we might be getting freerolled (in which case we're not even ahead in the pot, we're chopping at best). Take it easy bud.

My apologies bdc, just get negative or what seems like negative feedback on most anything I post around here these days. Didn't mean to get testy and I apologize and I see what your saying and I need to learn how to word things better. icon_doh.gif

Sometimes I re-raise with that hand pre-flop, sometimes I don't. I think you made the correct fold on the flop; you’re never going to be ahead by that much even though you have the current nuts in that spot.

nh this is a big mistake a lot of people make.
