i cant tell if they are being tricky with the nut flush or have a set and are drawing...

should i check the turn and then usually fold the river? but then wont sets get to draw and bad players will go "yippie my 5 high flush is good lemme bet" and then i fold the best hand?

I think you're good here enough to just keep the pedal down. If he had the nut flush he should either have just led out flop or at the very least checkraised you. When you get c/r on the turn it's an ugly spot, but meh - at these levels like I said I think you're good often enough to get it in.
