I'm only one off the button and limped just following so many others. I have top set against basically the table and a very draw heavy board. Would a good play here be to check and hope to fill up or bet and try to thin the field?

Check is standard here. Good chance someone already has a straight anyways. You're not going to "thin the field" at all, and the worst thing ever would be to reopen the betting for the 5 people who've already checked and see the pot get check/raised.

Raising preflop would be ok.

Flop check is standard.
