i pot the flop, try to take it down right then and there...if he plays back then it's time to gamble

checking the end with the nuts is a very interesting play, but i think you would have been better off to just lead out...all the possible drawing hands improved there, so if he has a made hand he will probably check behind, and he will pay off a lot of times if he did complete a draw to a second-best hand

I wouldn't check the nuts there

I like preflop and I would raise most of the time, but I know a lot of players that would advocate limping in early position. Your hand isn't quite as strong as it first seems.

If you aren't fully comfortable playing postflop I would suggest being more passive preflop for a while.

I would look to checkraise the flop against a LAG player. You say he had been raising preflop frequently - had he been betting most flops as well?

Potting the turn is standard.

The river play is awkward. Without a read I would probably bet ~$8 and hope he makes a loose call with a lower flush/AQ/KK/etc. If you think he is the sort to value bet a weaker flush or perhaps bluff the river with a random two pair then I like the check.

I don't like the check on river at all. At this level lots of hands are calling river. They call you more times than they try to bluff you on river. Also , turn pot adds a little deception.

I hope you checked flop with the intention of check/raising. Against a lag you probably have the best hand here and at worst against top set you have 10 outs to the nuts.

Turn is standard.

Me either. When you bet the turn and get called, then back in to the mortal nuts on the river, BET all day, every day. Hopefully the reason he called you on the turn was to draw to the same hand you just hit.

is Turn standard because he did not bet the flop and we probabl have the best hand and a bit of a draw?
What turn cards would we not pot ?

I was looking to c.r the flop. He bet anytime it was chekd and I had folded previously.

river, my thinking: "I hit my set on the turn, now I guess you just hit a flush..ah...dang it"

I limp and/or raise this preflop.
